If Washington is really committed to becoming a full time Snooki & Company DC Shore reality show, let's dial it up!
Obviously progressive It-girl Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is too young to be Constitutionally eligible for the Presidency in 2020. So what?!? And some hidebound traditionalist states may have ballot rules for the Democratic primaries that require a primary candidate to be eligible for the office they seek - change the rules!
Democratic strategists should make a real push to get her on the primary ballots and give her a chance to accumulate delegates prior to the Democratic convention. That will let her be a formal power-player and ought to energize Democratic efforts to register and rally the youth vote, the way Barack and Bernie did and Hillary did not.
If the DC governing class doesn't want or expect to be taken seriously, then embrace the new reality. If they're just going to give us a show, give us a good one. Run AOC!
Ha! First again! What fools these mortals be

A FRIEND AND VETERAN PASSED THIS ALONG, QUITE A STORY!
What a great piece of history! The Little Drummer Boy.
Did you know about this brave little fellow?
In May of 1861, 9-year-old John Lincoln "Johnny" Clem ran away from his home in Newark, Ohio, to join the Union Army, but found the Army was not interested in signing on a 9-year-old boy when the commander of the 3rd Ohio Regiment told him he "wasn't enlisting infants," and turned him down. Clem tried the 22nd Michigan Regiment next, and its commander told him the same thing. Determined, Clem tagged after the regiment, acted out the role of a drummer boy, and was allowed to remain. Though still not regularly enrolled, he performed camp duties and received a soldier's pay of $13 a month, a sum collected and donated by the regiment's officers.
The next April, at Shiloh, Clem's drum was smashed by an artillery round and he became a minor news item as "Johnny Shiloh, The Smallest Drummer." A year later, at the Battle Of Chickamauga, he rode an artillery caisson to the front and wielded a musket trimmed to his size. In one of the Union retreats, a Confederate officer ran after the cannon Clem rode with, and yelled, "Surrender you damned little Yankee!" Johnny shot him dead.
This pluck won for Clem national attention and the name "Drummer Boy of Chickamauga."
Clem stayed with the Army through the war, served as a courier, and was wounded twice. Between Shiloh and Chickamauga, he was regularly enrolled in the service, began receiving his own pay, and was soon after promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He was only 12 years old. After the Civil War, he tried to enter West Point, but was turned down because of his slim education. A personal appeal to President Ulysses S. Grant, his commanding general at Shiloh, won him a 2nd Lieutenant's appointment in the Regular Army on 18 December 1871, and in 1903 he attained the rank of Colonel and served as Assistant Quartermaster General. He retired from the Army as a Major General in 1916, having served an astounding 55 years.
General Clem died in San Antonio, Texas, on 13 May 1937, exactly 3 months shy of his 86th birthday, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

I’ve concluded that Trump is more politically-constrained than he anticipated. I’ve hoped that stance would let the 4D crowd down gently, but seems not to have worked.
It also seems clear that Trump has faced unprecedented levels of hostility and attacks from the opposing party, media and bureaucracy.
I’m not sold on the concept that the “rough and tumble” of the NYC real estate market is sufficient training to overcome the issues encountered in the presidency.
This doesn’t exclude the possibility that Trump is a snake in the grass, but am choosing to give him the benefit of that doubt for the time being.

Me neither, and I think it's a good point. In RE, everyone's motive is to make money. It's possible to make win-win deals when both parties make money. Domestic politics is more of a zero-sum game, and motives are not as clear. Probably just as many scumbags in RE, but they're more up front about it.
I do think it helps him in foreign relations, though, especially with trade and even NK. Those things are more like contracts, which he probably understands better than any previous president.

Bringing this over from the last thread.
TomR, yes, if this third theory is the correct one, then you are exactly right what that means.
The only reason we think he is none of those things is because we want to think that.
OL,
A couple weeks back when we were discussing Trump using the DOD budget to fund construction for the wall weren't you taking the position that Trump wasn't Constitutionally allowed to use appropriated funds for a purpose for which Congress did not appropriate them for? That was how I remember your position.
If your position is that Trump can't use the DOD budget to pay for the border wall, why do you accuse him of lying to his supporters when you know that Congress has to authorize the border wall funding?
Same question applies to the Obamacare repeal. How exactly did Trump lie to us about that when it was McCain who thwarted that effort?

FTR, OL never said Trump lied, anymore than Paul Ryan "lied" when he passed an O'care repeal that he knew would die in the Senate, or George Bush did when he signed McCain Feingold when he KNEW it would not survive SCOTUS. Ooops. If we want to use the word "lie" about any politician who "discovers" that he cannot do what he said, then of course they are all liars.
TomR just made that up so he could pick a fight.

What a load of crock. I didn't make anything up. In response to your theory I wrote this:
You are more than entitled to your opinion, which, if true, indicates that Trump is no different than any other Swamp politician and will blatantly lie to his supporters if that is what it takes to get elected.
You then said:
TomR, yes, if this third theory is the correct one, then you are exactly right what that means.
You flat out admitted I interpreted your point correctly and that your theory asserts Trump lied to his supporters just to win their vote.
PS You dodged answering my last question.

LOL OL doesn't like it whenever anyone questions him.
OL theorizes Trump was intentionally lying to his supporters just to get their vote knowing that he couldn't fulfill the border wall campaign promise without approval from Congress.
OL also criticizes Trump for trying to fulfill the border wall campaign promise by paying for it with the DOD budget. This would be unconstitutional on his part and comparable to what Obama did when he was in office.

Buckeye, is your sciatica disc related or pelvis?
CH, the symptoms suggest disc issue that has been nagging me for a good 15 years.
The scary thing is that over the last 60 days have lost a lot of strength (right side) around my pelvis, gluts, piriformis, and hamstring. So bad I can't stand and balance on my right leg, no way, no how.
I now have an appointment with a Sports Med doc who focuses on this exact kind of problem. Jr. told me he is top notch, one of the football team docs, so hopefully will get to the bottom of it.
The crappy thing is there is a pretty strict protocol, so nothing is going to happen overnight.
In the meantime, I'm pretty much a cripple.

The CNBC Muellergasm, as explained by CNBC:

CODELS are a huge SCAM on the taxpayer. Don’t fall for this nonsense. They’re glorified vacations, using government assets, where the “business” being done could easily be done from DC. Embassy staff have told me how much they hate them. It’s a scheme.

At $3/cartridge, they lost about $100/yr from me. Hope it was worth it.
I got my new high-end Japanese razor today, btw. Closest shave I can remember, perhaps ever, and hardly any blood! (Can't go over the same spot too many times with a "safety" razor, apparently.)

The CNBC Muellergasm in two sentences.
Q: How does Mueller use his power to get evidence?
A: Using the same exact methods as every other prosecuting attorney in the country.
The writer of that article must be relying on the ignorance of leftwing readers that don't realize she isn't pointing out anything that isn't already common knowledge to anyone who has seen at least one episode of Law and Order.

To anyone who watched the Barr hearings, did the subject of a special counsel to investigate the FBI & DoJ activities regarding the Trump investigation come up? Did he make any statements about Huber or Horowitz and getting to the bottom of that?

Tom R, you left out the good part: CNBC thinks Trump is in trouble because of Cohen paying to get a website about how sexy Cohen is. Plenty of popcorn, dig in and enjoy. ;)

Poops: skipped the good part myself... “Cohen paying” should be “Cohen billing Trump for”. The lying to Congress was in the same memo it seems.

A serious problem the nation faces [besides all the roving, cantankerous school marms mucking about and whacking select, supposed miscreants on the knuckles while ignoring others] is that both parties have taken the wrong lesson from the abuse and disruption of the free market brought about by government intervention and overregulation. It has brought terrible distortions, growing income inequality and booms and busts.
But what it has bred on the left is AOC-level socialist insanity.
What it has bred on the right is a similar distrust of markets but in a populist direction.
Combine the two and the goose that lays the golden egg has its neck on the chopping block with scant few defenders.

Frederick and buddies are going down to the Yale hockey game against St. Lawrence on the 19th. Told him to wear all his Yale gear he picked up this summer.

JiB, Ingalls is a great rink to watch hockey. Coach Alain is a friend from my New Haven days. Frederick should have a fun time!

Trump has a lot of power as POTUS. He can snip the use of military assets for alcohol-transporting a-holes from Congress.
Get right with the Constitution delegation of powers, Congress (that means you Felosi).
Executive Orders:
Use of military aircraft for CODEL is suspended until further notice. (Stay home and get to work you whores.)
Terminated permanently: CODEL inclusion of family members, especially minor children, flying on military aircraft. (sorry. we aren't insured against accidental death and dismemberment, and other mishaps. fly commersh and buy travel insurance if you don't like it.)
CODEL overseas delegations on matters of foreign policy must be coordinated through SOS Pompeo's executive staff DIRECTLY with final signatory by SECSTAT Pompeo himself. Bypass SOS, your resources will be affected accordingly. We are on the American Team--- not the Speaker's team or the AOC Team.
Congress must pay for its own overseas security, no exceptions. Coordination with SOS Pompeo, SECDEF, and Mick Mulvaney will ensure that legitimate delegation activities get support.
Also, you drunks, alcohol consumption is a security risk when traveling abroad.
NEXT. (mthrfckr)

ya think AOC isn't going to travel the world to "familiarize herself with the banking and insurance practices overseas(code for commie socialist countries)." ??
who is our go to watchdog group on matters of money, credit, and banking regulation. AOC and Mad Max are going to be rebuilding the Dem war chest.
nail their asses in the crib.
