It's a 3 day Race with 23 contestants, and surprisingly they are happy we didn't get too much snow:
Clarke said trail conditions are “beautiful.”
“There were some places on the trail that were a little iffy or bumpier than we’d like, but these last few little snowfalls filled those in,” she said.
A snowstorm predicted to dump several inches Wednesday and Thursday failed to deliver much more than one or two inches, which was a relief for Alaskan Sled Dog & Racing Association race organizers.
“There’s no way we wanted to be working with eight inches of new snow,” Clarke said.
This is a speed race of 25 miles per day, starting on 4th Ave, our main downtown drag, and the winner get $65,000.
The much more famous 1000 mile Iditarod starts in early March.
Federal regulators on Thursday broke an impasse over approving new projects to export natural gas from the United States, potentially easing the way for a flurry of applications to build the multi-billion dollar facilities.
In doing so, the regulators approved a liquefied natural gas export terminal for the first time in two years, pushing through a disagreement over how they should assess the facilities' contribution to climate change.
It's generally accepted that the Iditarod is a 1,000-mile race; however, the actual GPS measurements of the route show it's slightly shorter. The southern route measures about 998 miles. I did not know they were rentals either, Jane. I know my buddy's wife who ran the Iditarod had her dogs boarded at some place that is designed/set up to train and care for Iditarod dogs, but I did not think that counted as renting. Maybe it does.

Any odds on if the Brit Tabloids beat our domestic Press in publicizing the first pics on-line of this latest Government criminal?

Loved, loved, loved Charles Barkley mocking Smollett to Shaq's great delight, and also worth noticing how the tall White guy tries hard to get Chuck off the topic unsuccessfully. My question is why is he so concerned about trying to stop Barkley's mockery? For the last decade these sports shows have been mocking political figures on the Conservative side 24/7, so why try to shut Chuck up, especially when he was on such a humorous and honest roll?

I pray that that might come to be true, but it sure as hell is not in the bag today. I like Sebastian Gorka, but don't do the happy dance until you cross the goal line and the official scores your touchdown.
BREAKING: Jussie Smollett has been cut from the final two episodes of Empire still in production, due to his arrest for felony disorderly conduct
I'm so cynical nowadays that I bet there's a push on amongst the Show's writers to see if they can have his character beaten up by some homophobic White Racists in MAGA Hats, and have his character's absence explained by being in the hospital indefinitely, either recovering or dying, depending on how Jussie's Court Case in real life plays out. If I was a Lefty writer of TV scripts that's how I'd fight for the cause.
Howie Carr: ...There are new developments. He was fired this morning from the rotten TV Show that he was on, and that of course is "Empire." There are now reports too that uhh yesterday they were saying that perhaps he was making $65,000 per episode. They shoot 18 episodes...and so do the math. 18 x $65,000 works out to just under $1.2 Million per year. So now, today there are stories he may have ben receiving up to $125,000 per episode, which basically doubles it, so $2.4 Million. So did he really do this preposterously stupid and hateful exercise to get a raise from $2.4 Million?...
I think the real problem is the news/commentary we hear is never heard by the left. They have no idea that there is no Russian collusion, they don't have any understanding of Trump's accomplishments and they are completely sure that "socialism" is great.
How we change that with the media, the education system or the prejudice of social media is beyond me.
Yes theh were planning that law for automatic registration, there was some official who was in favor of that but its gone nowhere, maybe the green deal was the beginning.
Hoyden, maybe not Big Foot. But we can compare it to that report Horowitz was going to issue that would end the Left for the crimes he was going to reveal.
ho hum.
Jane, it is beyond me too but you are right on the target.
How we change that with the media, the education system or the prejudice of social media is beyond me.
Jane,
That is the exact question Bill Ayers asked himself in about 1970 after he got off from that bombing incident that killed his girlfriend and for which he ought to have been hung.
If Klobuchar stays in the campaign, the R's top priority should be to find a way to provoke Amy into an explosion, preferably on camera. She's obviously an accident waiting to happen.
"Mr. Smollett is a young man of impeccable character and integrity who fiercely and solemnly maintains his innocence betrayed by a system that apparently wants to skip due process and proceed directly to sentencing.”
What did we as a Society do to make this good young man feel he had to resort to such a sad episode to highlight the pain he felt for Gay Black men in Trump's America? We must turn the microscope from Mr Smollett and instead focus it upon ourselves in order to understand the reasons for this anguished and long overdue 'cri de coeur' from Jussie's broken heart for this nation:(
This is from a crime reporter for a Florida TV station. Link goes to the list. (I don't recognize any of the names except Kraft, but I am not big on celebrities or sports people):
“I’m actually getting a very final briefing and a very complete briefing in about two hours,” Trump said in response to a question about the incident. “I think it’s a shame. I think it’s a very sad thing when a thing like that happens.”
“Do you think you bear any responsibility for moderating your language when it comes to that?” NBC’s Hallie Jackson asked the president.
“No,” he replied. “I think my language is very nice.”
What I am most pleased at is that the Washington Post is not reporting on this salacious episode of Pat's owner and Trump friend Bob Kraft. They are treating him in almost exactly the same way that they refused to engage in any coverage of the sordid affair of Jeff Bezos, owner of the WaPo. I am so glad they are not hypocrites.

Why would Schiff be panicking, and what does he think is coming that he should worry about?
Posted by: Old Lurker | February 22, 2019 at 04:10 PM
My transcript.
I hope Jussie's broken ribs are healing.

OL,
I think the real problem is the news/commentary we hear is never heard by the left. They have no idea that there is no Russian collusion, they don't have any understanding of Trump's accomplishments and they are completely sure that "socialism" is great.
How we change that with the media, the education system or the prejudice of social media is beyond me.

Hoyden, maybe not Big Foot. But we can compare it to that report Horowitz was going to issue that would end the Left for the crimes he was going to reveal.
ho hum.
Jane, it is beyond me too but you are right on the target.

Jane,
That is the exact question Bill Ayers asked himself in about 1970 after he got off from that bombing incident that killed his girlfriend and for which he ought to have been hung.
Posted by: daddy | February 22, 2019 at 04:39 PM
Tru dat, Daddy, but Ayers had the benefit of knowing that it is so so much easier to tear something down than to build something up.
Posted by: Old Lurker | February 22, 2019 at 04:42 PM

Republicans can all come out and speak in front of cameras all the live long day pushing back on all of this and playing up the accomplishments - getting the MSM to air it???? Not likely.
They could be shouting from the rooftops now. How would we know if they are or aren't? If they are, do they just assume it is getting coverage on the networks/cable?
