Yeah, Jack. It's the feed for France24 live. I figure the "Yellow Vest" reports will pop up every 30 minutes, and more often as it gets more heated up.
Funny that the manicure/pedicure nail salons are all Chinese or Vietnamese owned.
Never go to a Massage Parlor run by the Vietnamese, since it's been 45 years since they "practiced" on our Troops. Either go to a Massage Parlor run by the Fillipino's, since English is pretty much their Primary language, or Hong Kong Chinese as your second choice. I am amazed how so often these Americans with lots of money don't know the fundamentals that any sailor in our fleet learns quick on his first West Pac cruise.
As a young Officer brand new in Cubi Point, Philippines, I do not joke when I mention that almost every new high school aged kid with a GED who showed up as a new recruit to the Squadron, within about 48 hours was knocking on my door asking for written permission for him to get married to the love of his life he had just met out the main gate at one of the hundred bars on Magsaysay street in Olongapo. Boys will be boys will be boys.
Oh, I know:) The Filipino girls at Clark outside the gate were what my copilot called marriable and bring home to grandma brides:)
After Leyte, my dad (Navy) was ashore on the Philippines. Don't know where or for how long, but when I was about 12 I discovered a treasure trove of pictures in a sea trunk he kept his Navy stuff in.
Picture of a row a pup tents, with sailors and Marines just hanging out. Bunch of local gals naked from the waist up. Same with all the guys so must have been hot out.
Yep, as I recall many of those gals definitely looked someone you wanted to take home:)
My dad would have been 20 at the time.
Also remember my mom wasn't to happy I found those pictures.
Speaking of the Navy I was watching The Caine Muriny last night and it seems to me anti-flash cream looks a lot like White Face. Only the stewards and cabin boys were black so they got away with it.
They ate more strawberries per capital, it should be noted.
What the hell is wrong withn Oregon? Especially, Portland. We designed and built their Light Rail system (reading, Janet?) back in the 90's. Perfectly normal left leaning city then but now?
Dr Jones' theory is that the proletariat traded the promise of revolution for sexual liberation. They will go to their drudge factory jobs provided you give them free sex and abortion. AOC is messing with that's armicist.
But TMZ reported Saturday that "sources connected to the case" say the money Smollett paid the Osundairo brothers was not for the alleged fake attack. Instead, Smollett paid the brothers to help train him in the gym.
From TMZ:
Our sources say the brothers made a deal with Jussie to train him for 5 weeks so he could get in shape for an upcoming music video. Jussie had said to Ola that he wanted abs like his. Both Abel and Ola agreed to train Jussie, and also give him a 5-week nutrition plan.
Our sources say Jussie told the brothers he would pay them for their services, but no specific amount was discussed.
According to TMZ, even the check's memo line read, "5 weeks training nutrition plan."
Ben Hur was written by the Civil War General Lew Wallace, who was from Indiana.
Since I see that Miss M has brought up Lew Wallace and Ben Hur, let me link to a Book chat by the wonderful Victor Davis Hanson from 2003, just as he was releasing his terrific book "Ripples of Battle" which covered 3 Battles in a marvelous manner, not so much their tactical strategies, but their effects on society. The Battle he discusses most in this marvelous video I will link, is the Battle of Shiloh, and between minute 29:30 and about 39:00 he focuses on Lew Wallace. I have to insist you consider watching every minute of it up to that point since VDH's passion and brilliance is so bloody marvelous, but regardless, really worth a listen if you have the time. His passion is contagious. We learn from the video that VDH was named after his Uncle who died at Okinawa, Victor Hanson.
Ext:
The defense tries a do over with Smollett.
How about the 100 dollars to buy the noose rope and the hats and the bleach?
No way he ever gets abs like the one brother.
How about the buying drugs?
Any charges on that?
Mueller really doesn’t like Manafort.
Jealous of his rich lifestyle.
Sitting in our office library under renovotion, I looked up into the bookcase and saw a volume of "Ben Hur, A tale Of The Christ" by Lew Wallace, a first edition of 1897, for my great-aunt Charlotte. I have a few more interesting titles here and in Southapton.
It really is a great listen Jack, and the last of the 4 characters he concentrates on, from minute 39 to minute 49 is Nathan Bedford Forest, founding figure as we all know of the KKK. Again, VDH's explanation of the man and the times is invaluable.
Here's the peanut gallery with their initial comments on the Atlas 767 that just went down in Texas. Simply posting it for interest. Take it all with big grains of salt, but at least some of the commenters will be 767 drivers and it's caught the attention of aviators:
Appearing as a guest on Saturday's AM Joy, MSNBC contributor Jonathan Capehart blamed President Donald Trump for liberals believing Jussie Smollett's hoax claims of being attacked by Trump supporters as the liberal Washington Post columnist charged that the President "stokes" feelings of "menace" in minorities. He also complained that conservative reaction to the hoax has been "despicable."
As the group suggested that there was a double standard in conservatives criticizing prominent liberals for believing the Smollett hoax when Trump had also seemed to believe it early on, the group ignored the fact that many liberals spoke out and tweeted (sometimes melodramatically) about the story without even being asked about it whereas the President was responding to a question.
Capehart then blamed the President for liberal gullibility:
The reason why so many people were so quick to believe Jussie Smollett and what he said and his version of events before they all unraveled was because that man (Trump) who you just played feeds into and actually stokes the atmosphere of menace and insecurity that millions of Americans feel across this country, whether they are people of color, LGBTQ, trans people, immigrants, Dreamers. You just go down the list.
He then added:
There are people in this country who every day feel that their very existence -- their own security is at stake. And so, you know, the President's superpac, right-wingers, far right, conservatives who are using the Jussie Smollett situation to rhetorically bash people who are afraid for their own existence and their own lives, you know, is really despicable.
STEVE KRAKAUER: I want to talk about another issue, just sort of the campaign and covering Barack Obama. You know, you were on the campaign trail covering the President, interviewed him several times before he was elected, and since have sort of gone back on this trail of sorts as he tries to sell the stimulus plan around the country. And interviewed him as well last week. What do you see as the difference in coverage that he's getting since he's been in office?
TERRY MORAN: Well, now he's got the job. I like to say that, in some ways, Barack Obama is the first President since George Washington to be taking a step down into the Oval Office. I mean, from visionary leader of a giant movement, now he's got an executive position that he has to perform in, in a way. And I think that the coverage reflects that. How does he do? Uh, how does he do navigating the shoals of politics in Washington and Congress? How does he do formulating actual policy, as opposed to articulating ideals? And do we like that policy? Will it work? So he's getting more regular scrutiny, as is necessary. I also think that there's something in the White House Press Corps, which is healthy, where you're judged by your peers, to some extent, on how tough you can be. How sharp your questions are, how aggressive your coverage is, that's the standard for success among White House reporters. And I think he's essentially learning, for many White House reporters, they wake up every morning thinking 'How do I take a pound of flesh out of the President today?' And all that is healthy.
Cape heart is a real drama queen.
No one is afraid for their lives.
That is just liberal BS.

But his was a tainted 2nd term and they knew that about him when they nominated him.

Nebraska State Sen. Ernie Chambers (I-Omaha) referred to the American flag as “a rag” and compared it to a swastika during a Tuesday speech on the floor of the state legislative chamber.
Chambers made the comments during a floor speech where he was criticizing a bill, LB 399, which would update civics requirements in the state’s schools to improve student literacy “in civics, history, economics, financial literacy, and geography.”
“I don’t come here for this rag every day, and it’s a rag. That’s all it is to me,” Chambers said, referring to the American flag. “When you show a way to persuade Jews to sanctify and worship the swastika, when you show me that I’ll come up here and stand while you all hypocritically pretend that rag is something that it definitely is not.”
Capehart then blamed the President for liberal gullibility:
The WaPo's Capehart was the guy that Dennis Prager focused on on his program this week that I wish I could have transcribed. Prager very pointedly said that every word that comes out of the mouth of Capehart is an intentional lie, and I agree with Dennis.
Rgar video with Hanson is quite good. I was expecially struck (of course) by the section on Lew Wallace. I didn't know anything about his history from Shiloh, nor his nursed grudge for the next 50 years.
Also didn't realize how really successful Ben-Hur was. Quite a tale!
My great x I can't remember grandpa of an Iowa regiment was captured at Shiloh. If you have a day off in Memphis again I'd take you there.
Thanks for the offer, Pin. Momma and I trod that Battlefield pretty thoroughly a couple times back when we lived in Memphis in 1990. VDH makes it come alive all over again.
That is a Semester's worth of brilliance in a simple 1 hour chat from the Prof. Just having it on in the background with the TV muted makes me smarter, even as my Tarheel's pummeled Florida State. If this were Japan, VDH would be termed a living National Treasure, someone of astonishing and unique skill, almost irreplaceable in modern society, since what he has absorbed and mulled over in his lifetime he regurgitates with such passion, wisdom, and skill.
I really did enjoy it, even the part about Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Klan. Knowing the backgrounds of all of those generals made the Civil War more personal and relatable.
My big accomplishment today was cleaning the utility room. Loaded stuff to go to Goodwill, threw out a bunch of stuff, and reorganized the rest. I think I am going to take a small section of the house every day and do the same.
We didn't have enough time when we moved here to really sort and declutter. It's high time I took this on. I don't even know what is in the storage shed. I took some stuff out there today and looked around and realized I will have to tackle that as soon as the weather gets warmer.
Saw him in Poughkeepsie in the 80s, and thought of his song while crossing the Bridge of Sighs in Venice in the same decade. I like that slow soulful blues-rock stuff. Used to play a few from that album in my rock star days. Had the audience in the proverbial palm of my hand for Too Rolling Stoned one fateful night. :-)
Murkowski sucks, Miss M. Nothing new about that. We all know who she gets her marching orders from:
My concern is for our other Senator, former Active Duty Marine and current Marine Reservist Dan Sullivan, tho' I think he'll vote proper when it gets down to it:
Sherman's desire to avoid casualties and instead defeat the South through destroying their infrastructure sort of reminds me of Trump's economic battle with China, the sanctions on Iran, Eussia, and Venezuela, etc.
Very cool. A paraglider with a big fan on his back just went sailing past our windows that overlook the Turnagain Fiord and the Kenai Peninsula beyond. He was probably about 700 feet high or so, just abeam the view from my couch, but was off maybe 300 yards out so that if his fan quit he could just float down to the marsh at the bottom of our hill. Wish I could post the pic I took from my living room.

But of course I'm biased:)

daddy,
I really did enjoy it, even the part about Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Klan.

Anyone else like Robin Trower? He's 73 now and is releasing a new album in March. (Spoiler alert: He can still play.)

Pin,
Too bad that POS survived his sentence. I’m sure he’ll be a productive member of society.

“He's gonna have a hard time explaining that.”
Nah, just the usual “they didn’t do it right.”
That Nebraska dude reminds me of Grady, Fred’s dim friend on Sanford and Son. In more ways than one.

I probably haven't heard Robin Trower since the 80s. Oh yes, I'm sure he can play.

Ext
Saw him for free spring of 72 or 73 on campus, outdoor nighttime concert at the stadium.
He music was ethereal, and the odor of "herb" was in the air as I recall.
Yes I enjoyed the concert.

Too bad he didn't play for the New York Giants in 2019.

Incredible that Rae Carruth isn't behind bars. Maybe Mueller should look at him for collusion.

Actually with all this rain you Yankees should probably stay home for now.
I think my captain may crack up in this typhoon.

Alaska senators Murkowski and Sullivan consider resolution on national emergency declaration

daddy,
I forgot to mention this about Hanson's video:
Sherman's desire to avoid casualties and instead defeat the South through destroying their infrastructure sort of reminds me of Trump's economic battle with China, the sanctions on Iran, Eussia, and Venezuela, etc.
War by another means.
