It's just about a foregone conclusion - the House can certainly say Cohen's word is good enough for them and impeach Trump on the high crime of meeting a stripper's extortion demands, then the Senate will fall about 20 votes short of removing Trump from office, then Trump can go on to get easily reelected with "surprising" strength from Hispanics and blacks. So the cherry on top is that saner policies, and judicial picks, will be the order of the day until at least 2024.

NYC actually had an election yesterday, for just one position: The entirely useless Public Advocate. To show how useless it is, DeBlasio was Public Advocate before getting elected Mayor.

There were 17 candidates: 16 Ds, one R. The NYT chose to endorse Jumaane Williams. Turns out Williams was arrested 10 years ago for "harassment and criminal mischief" after an argument with his girlfriend. From the NY story:

In an interview on Monday, Mr. Williams said the events leading up to the 2009 arrest began as an argument, but he did not recall what it was about. During the argument, Mr. Williams said that he threw his girlfriend’s purse on the floor and left the apartment to get food for both.

“I went to turn to leave and I tripped over a chair, the chair hit the wall and a snow globe fell from a half shelf,” he added. Mr. Williams said he did not intentionally damage the chair or the snow globe. He denied throwing anything at the woman.

I guess the geniuses at the NYT found this believable. Anyway, Jumaane won with 33%. The lone R got 19%.
