Yeah, OL, it seems logical, but how could anyone, even a saint, not want revenge on these people?

Holy Moly, I am caught up and it ain't even noon out here yet. On a day of big news that makes no sense at all.

Douche-bag Chris Wallace speaking to Dana P is now dumping on Jim Jordan for his opening comments on the convicted liar Cohen, by saying that Congress brought out convicted murderer Joseph Valachi to testify, plus a couple of Nixon's convicted staff, so Wallace say he is explaining "the argument against Jim Jordan's case."

I’m sorry, but Trump’s decision to hire this lying shitbag Cohen as one of his personal lawyers and “fixers” just simply does not reflect well on Trump’s judgment of character or his own personal code of ethics.

Yes, this shit show is a manufactured circus by the Dems and Cohen’s desire to save his own sorry ass from many more years in prison .... but good God Almighty! Trump shares a great deal of blame for putting the country through this by hiring this friggin’ sleazeball in the first place.

What a nightmare for everyone.

Try to remember that the pool of applicants willing to put their necks on the line for Trump, politically, financially and physically, is extremely restricted in comparison to - well, any other president.

That's not Trump's fault, as everyone here knows.

Colorado Gov Signing Away State’s Electoral College Vote in Favor of National Popular Vote – Eric Holder Cheers

Colorado governor will sign bill aimed at bypassing Electoral College

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) will sign a measure to award his state’s electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, moving a countrywide coalition one step closer to circumventing the Electoral College.

In an interview Sunday, Polis called the Electoral College an “undemocratic relic” of the nation’s past, one he wants to see relegated to the dustbin of history.

“I’ve long supported electing the president by who gets the most votes,” Polis told The Hill. “It’s a way to move towards direct election of the president.”

Colorado will become the 12th state to join the national popular vote interstate compact. Those 12 states and the District of Columbia, which has also passed a popular-vote bill, account for 181 electoral votes, just under 90 shy of the 270 votes a presidential candidate needs to win the White House.

The compact will not go into effect until the coalition includes states that add up to 270 electoral votes or more. Once it does go into effect, states that are part of the coalition would award their electoral votes en masse to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.

D

Are they going after Gaetz because of his tweet dissing Cohen?

Yeah, Pin. In the pic it is the blue building behind the one that says Shagri-La on its roof.

But they aren’t hiding anymore.

The Democratic Party is now firmly in the grasp of the hard left-- the same people who promote “Shout my abortion!” all over social media.

Which is why they support abortion in all 9 months, without hesitation.

And now they won’t even offer medical care to newborn babies born alive.

A recent poll from the SBA List found that 77% of Americans support protecting babies who survive abortion. And yet, only 3 of the 47 Democrats in the Senate stood up to protect these babies. In fact, a recent Marist poll showed that the wave of abortion extremism is now turning off even Democrats!

These politicians cannot hide!

OUR JOB: Catholics must lead the charge to hold politicians that support infanticide accountable. No doubt they are hoping this issue will disappear. But we will not let them -- or the voters -- forget.

P.S. Even the rules of war treat prisoners better than innocent vulnerable children in America. For example, Article II, Section 12 of the Geneva Convention requires that:
“Members of the armed forces and other persons... who are wounded or sick, shall be respected and protected in all circumstances. They shall be treated humanely and cared for by the Party to the conflict in whose power they may be, without any adverse distinction founded on sex, race, nationality, religion, political opinions, or any other similar criteria.

“Any attempts upon their lives, or violence to their persons, shall be strictly prohibited; in particular, they shall not be murdered or exterminated, subjected to torture or to biological experiments; they shall not willfully be left without medical assistance and care...”

fdcol, I was responding to both you and maryrose re: personnel hires.

Cohen was hired before Trump was even running for president. A New York hire, as others have pointed out. Different skill sets for different jobs.

Since Trump became president, very few people are willing to take the risk of pre-dawn raids, death threats, probing of entire life since infancy, etc. that Trump's hires and nominations are subject to. Look at Kavanaugh for goodness sake, and he's a RINO, not even a hardcore Trump guy.

BREAKING: Cohen testifies that he has no proof -- no emails, texts or recordings -- that could show that Trump intended the $35,000 personal check to Cohen, his personal attorney, as reimbursement for mistress hush money

It is appalling beyond words that 23% of Americans DO NOT support that.

States cannot execute prisoners who are incapable of rationally understanding the reasons for their punishment, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday, siding with an Alabama man who has suffered strokes and dementia that wiped out his memory of murdering a police officer in 1985.

In a 5-3 decision with conservative Chief Justice John Roberts joining the court's four liberals, the justices threw out an Alabama state court ruling that Vernon Madison, 68, was legally eligible to be executed, directing the lower court to reconsider the case.

CH and Porch, I understand your points.

For me, though, the ease with which Cohen switched political parties several times over the years, when it was expedient for him to do so, would have been a red flag to me.

Old Lurker

Ext at 4:18 ... regarding CO joining the group of states which agree to award all of their Electoral Votes to the candidate who wins the popular vote nationwide. From what Ext's post said, the pact will become effective when enough states join to add up to the 270 needed to elect the POTUS...and they only need 90 more.

Question: How can that be constitutional? It blatantly allows a few really big states to lock up all future elections, forever defeating the small state protections intended in the Constitution.

What if a few states join in before 2020?

Is it going to have to become effective, then swing and election before SCOTUS gets involved, long after an election has been cooked?

This is scary crap.

JiB,

I know some people liken attorneys to prostitutes, so in that regard their allegiances can be “malleable”.

But I think many do try to adhere to the principles of doing what they can to adequately provide good representation to their clients, and to respect the doctrine of attorney-client privilege, almost to the sacrosanct point of clergy-lay or doctor-patient privilege and confidentiality.

RattlerGator

I don't see how that electoral college bypass scam could hold up in court.

Posted by: Extraneus | February 27, 2019 at 04:28 PM

Neither do I. It has something of a Cafeteria Catholic mindset to it (if you know what I mean) and that won't fly in a constitutional republic with a set process for amendments.

These upside down non-thinking people are acting (it seems to me) as if the electoral college is a statutory scheme. I highly doubt if a sovereign state can subvert the effect of an individuals vote by giving more credence to voters in all the *other* eligible locales *outside* of said state.

daddy

In Cummings closing remarks he says "We are better than thus."

I agree. So why the hell did you allow this partisan dog and pony show to take place on your watch, Congressman Cummings?

fdcol, Trump didn't hire Cohen to be or do anything political. People switch parties all the time for business reasons, depending on the environment. Trump himself did it.

You can blame Trump for doing it if you want, but I'm not that page at all because Trump as billionaire businessman entering politics late in life has no political counterpart.

Old Lurker

I agree with all of you that the pooling scheme has to be unconstitutional.

But what if they do it anyway at the 2020 Electoral College and just cast their votes per their pact? We know from previous elections that each state has different "rules" for its Electors and just recently Hillary tried to draw strays into throwing her their votes.

So pretend 2020 works like 2016, and these states throw their 270 to the Hillary of the day. Who gets sworn in and who then goes to court to get it thrown out and how's that all get sorted out?

Last week we were discussing something or another and we wished for a judicial mechanism to declare something unconstitutional before it happens and we descend into turmoil.

School shooting prompts Baltimore school board to reverse initial vote banning cops from carrying guns in school

Baltimore City Public Schools will now permit police officers to carry guns inside schools just a month after voting the armed officer proposal down.

The move also comes two weeks after a shooting that took place at Frederick Douglass High School, a school in the district.

...

In January, the Baltimore City school board voted 10-0 to express disapproval of a bill in the state Legislature that would have allowed school resource officers to carry firearms inside school property.

As it stands, officers are allowed to carry service weapons while guarding the schools' exteriors, but are forced to lock up their weapons at the beginning of each school day.

Cohen is putting on his best face today; in reality, he intimidates and threatens people for a living. That is exactly the business attorney that Trump wanted; it's just the way the cookie crumbles that sometimes associates turn against you.

It's possible that it's a Trump character fault (associating with less than stellar humans), but Trump is a sucker for loyalty - he really wants associates who would take a bullet for him (not just say it, like Cohen did).

daddy

AOC's performance in asking questions will do her no harm today and will do her benefit among her supporters---she said nothing that I recall that came across as egregiously stupid as her usual blather.

It was basically a litany of questions about Trump devaluing his property's in order to save on having to pay taxes on his property's real value. That'll play well with the people in this country who want to get their hands on the wealth of others, and also will instill anger in those that think that the wealthy got their wealth by stealing from the Government's Taxpayer funded coffers.

hrtshpdbox

In Cummings closing remarks he says "We are better than thus."

Jordan also said that to Cummings in his opening remarks.

Old Lurker

Jack "My knee replacement was $64+K. I paid a $200 co-pay. Think about that."

And when thinking about it, be aware that the bills sent to Medicare or Jack's insurance company "claimed" they were owed $64,000, but when the dust settled, the billing docs and hospitals etc received but a fraction of the face amount billed.

Right A-mom?

So having as system built upon Monopoly Money as the medium of exchange which only well manned players can "play", and then when the patient pays but a token share of the cost for an elective procedure adds twilight dimensions on top of twilight dimensions such that 18% or our entire economy is as far from "market disciplines" as one can get.
