I don't think I am alone in having lost the plot on Brexit. Exit day is slated for March 29, which hits the Regional Weekend of March Madness and is right after Opening Day in baseball. Then April is big: baseball settles in, the NBA Playoffs, Avengers: Endgame, Game of Thrones... who has time for Brexit? Pushing it back a few months (or years!) is a great idea.

I'm just a humble amateur painter and sculptor but the biggest difference between the two pictures, and one which renders them largely impossible to compare, is the distortion in one or the other of width and height. No plastic surgeon stretched her head vertically and squeezed it on the horizontal plane or vice versa. Moreover, we don't know the ages of those shots so we don't know if she was even done maturing in the left hand photo.

those who favor unrestricted abortion at any time and are now dabbling their toes in the infanticide waters are intellectually and morally more coherent than those like Paglia
That may be so, if being 100% immoral qualifies as "morally more consistent" than someone who splits the difference between the two poles of good and evil. I think I might prefer the latter as being someone I could reason with and possibly persuade. And I'd prefer the morally inconsistent end result of, say, abortion allowed only in the first trimester to where we seem to be heading now, which is some sort of optional infanticide in the first week after birth.

My point, which I didn't make too clearly is, the incoherent argument usually loses to the coherent one.
Slippery slopes aren't so much a matter of gravity as they are a slide the incoherent/thoughtless step on and are then thrust down by the ghouls operating the ride.

I really hadn't given abortion much thought in recent years. I didn't know how many were done, so just sort of assumed that it was done out of health reasons or desperation, early in pregnancy. No one I knew had had abortions, no one would have thought of doing so, and that was pretty much where I was.
Then I found out about how many had been done, about the sale of baby parts, and then this late-term infanticide thing showed up.
THOSE got my attention, and I have been paying attention and concerned about it ever since. (About 4 years ago.)
I think those cheers in the New York Assembly got a lot of peoples' attention, too.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | February 26, 2019 at 12:12 PM
As to MM's point earlier, I actually don't think abortion is primarily about the Benjamins (as Ilhan Omar would put it). There is plenty of money from prenatal care, obstetrics, neonatal care, pediatrics, etc. Yes, there may be some vested financial interests in abortion mills, but I think it's unfortunately ideology-driven. Culture of death and selfishness.

Reporters in Hanoi, much like Jorge Ramos, are learning what living under a REAL dictator is like.
I am trying to gin up some sympathy for them, but it's a bit difficult. They will probably lodge a complaint with the White House and try to blame President Trump, who was still in the air when this happened.
It also occurs to me that the Norks know that a good portion of these reporters are about scuttling the talks by creating a controversy, and they are not interested in that.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | February 26, 2019 at 12:22 PM
jimmyk, ignatz,
I think there is more money involved in this than you guys realize. PP makes a lot of money out of selling fetal tissue for research, umbilical cords for stem cell purposes, and (this is currently rumor but I would not be surprised) organs for transplant purposes.
I would like to point out that although selfishness is a motive, why in the heck isn't there a mechanism to put these late-term babies out for adoption with a fee? Why are they so interested in DEAD babies?
Birth control is readily available. Abortions in the first trimester are easily procured. Why wait until the 7th month (or later) to decide? Why not deliver the child by Caesarean and let it live? There are people all over the country willing to adopt.
Why the killing? Are the democrats moving towards child sacrifice?

Years ago I was sorta the same, MM.
PP trying to destroy Komen opened my eyes too.
All pro-choice people should read pro-life sites, at least sometimes, so they can know what is really going on & what they are supporting. They have no idea.
Restaurants that had health code violations got listed in the local paper...but not abortion clinics.
It was "extremist" groups like Operation Rescue that let the public know what was going on. Dead babies in dumpsters, women dying from botched abortions, unlicensed workers, health code violations in the clinics, plumbing clogged up with dead baby parts,...
Anyway, I don't think most regular "normals" realize the awfulness of that Big business.
