Covington HS student Nick Sandmann and his high-powered legal team have begun filing defamation lawsuits.
Highlights of the claim:
The lawsuit claims The Post "ignored the truth" about the incident and says the paper "falsely accused Nicholas of ... 'accost[ing]' Phillips by 'suddenly swarm[ing]' him in a 'threaten[ing]' and 'physically intimidat[ing]' manner ... 'block[ing]' Phillips path, refusing to allow Phillips 'to retreat,' 'taunting the dispersing indigenous crowd,' [and] chanting, 'Build that wall,' 'Trump2020,' or 'Go back to Africa,' and otherwise engaging in racist and improper conduct. ..."Sandmann's attorneys accuse The Post of publishing seven "false and defamatory" articles about the incident between Jan. 19 and 21 and claim the paper "knew and intended that its false and defamatory accusations would be republished by others, including media outlets and others on social media."
Just comparing the initial WaPo account (ignore the Jan 22 dateline; the URL has a Jan 20 date) with the "It's More Complicated" walkback, one can see some problems for the defense.
AllahPundit is less optimistic that the WaPo is in trouble. DO let me add: I am a big fan of AllahP but I think he is misunderestimating the plaintiffs chances here. These are high-powered law firms that don't need the publicity and are clearly on a contingency fee. It won't be $250 million but they expect a payday. From the WaPo and others.
I LOVE A MYSTERY: The WaPo reports on the lawsuit but doesn't bother to link to any of the stories in question because democracy dies in darkness and they are all about transparency. Or something.
I hope they don't settle out of court - I may have to reconnect the cable if the trial is televised. Go Lin Go!

They are not just reluctant - it's a political hot potato. The EU doesn't want its' people back. It wants somebody else - like the US - to hold on to them or kill them.
They'll then accuse us of barbarous acts.
What they should do is arrange for a swap in custody from the SDF forces to Syria and pay the Syrians a few dozen million Euros to feed , house, try them, find them all guilty and shoot them with EU supplied bullets.

This is now Gov. Murphy's default response now.
Ever since last November, when they didn't give a warning of, or even have a cogent plan for dealing with a mild snowstorm this is what he does.
Yeah the storm was worse than expected, but the response was the killer. Municipalities dealt with the local snow, the state couldn't keep the state highways open.

Tucker's FOX reporter on his Show tonight adds this: (My transcript)
Matt Finn(sp): ...Tonight we are learning that Jussie Smollett was convicted of a DUI and lying to Police in 2007, according to Court Documents obtained by FOX News. This arrest was confirmed by an LA County Clerk who tells us that the birthdate that we have for 36 year old Jussie Smollett matches the birthdate of the Jussie Smollett who was arrested for the DUI and giving false information to Police. We have reached out to Smollett's Legal Team who did not deny this arrest. We have not been able yet to pinpoint exactly what Smollett lied to Police about but it's related to a Vehicular Charge. Smollett was sentenced to 36 months of Probation.
Also new tonight, Chicago Police tell FOX News that the two brothers that CBS reports confessed to carrying out a hoax met with Prosecutors and Detectives late this afternoon. Tonight Chicago Police are still waiting for Smollett to respond to their very important request for a follow up interview...Smollett was very cooperative with Police before this whole story dramatically altered, and is apparently no longer responding to Police phone-calls requesting more information. Tonight Police are no longer insisting Smollett is the Victim. They are now referring to him as "the person who filed the Police Report."...

OANN: Jussie Smollett identified himself as his brother in 2007 when an officer pulled him over on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was charged with false impersonation, DUI, and driving without a license.

Also, did Sandmann and his lawyers have a choice between filing in DC and KY? I assume they did. I imagine the jury pool is more favorable in KY.
How does a lawyer's legal strategies differ when they represent a minor? Parental consent? Oh My!

What all of these sources suggest is that in the rabbinic mindset giving societal
recognition to same-sex marriage is among the most egregious violations that human
beings can commit. Only non-Israelites might be suspected of sanctioning such
relationships; there is no suggestion that Israelites would ever consider such a thing.
Indeed, Israelites are to avoid this in no small measure precisely because it is the
(imagined) practiced of the Other. Homosexual contact, especially between men, is
already highly stigmatized in rabbinic literature and is often associated with non-Jews
(see, as just one example, Sifra Acharei Mot, perek 13:86
). Marriage between members of
the same gender, however, goes beyond forbidden sexual acts between individuals to the
level of societal approval of this sin. When sin is no longer recognized as sin by a society,
the rabbis would assert, that society loses its right to existence – like the generation of the
Flood, or the defeated Egyptians and Canaanites, such a society deserves to be swept
away.

Irritated is a polite word for his views. The Russian Carrier isn't as good as our oldest Carrier. The Russian navy is no match for Nato sea forces.
I don;t want a military confrontation with Russia, but I'm sure we, maybe with a little help, could take out the Russian fleet in one day.
I don't know what the Russian response would be, but I'm sure somebody, somewhere has war-gamed this out and has a plan to take out the Russian fleet in one strike.

I did not read it but it doesn't surprise me. We have a population of about 270,000 and I think off the top we had 28 homicides in 2018. I'll let somebody else do the math but unfortunately it is violent and getting more violent in a particular area of town that I stay out of.
On the plus side we caught one of our murderers today in Marlene's Maine but we might have to use a heavy-jet to transport him here for trial: Maine man charged in Alaska cold-case killing contests extradition
Alaska police zeroed in on Downs after DNA submitted by his aunt on a genealogical website was linked to DNA from the crime scene.

Continuing with lower Manhattan, I bet most of you have never heard of the battle of Anneke Jansz's descendants against Trinity Church.
At the age of 18 she married Roelof Janszen. They had several children before he died.
She married, second, Domine Everardus Bogardus, the first Lutheran minister in the new colony, and lived on a 62 acre farm, or bouwerie, in Manhattan, with her second husband, which had been left to her by her first husband.
Title to the land came to Trinity Church, but was contested many times by her heirs.

The East 13th Street squatter’s apartment building has become a battleground between the Dawson clan and other residents who accuse the family of bullying their way into taking over more units.
Rosario Dawson, who is said to be dating New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, a champion of affordable housing, moved into the dilapidated and abandoned building with her family in 1986. The “Rent” star once said the abode was “a place with a huge, gaping hole in the ground and plastic for windows.”

Daddy,
There is next to nothing left to see of the Early Dutch colony, other than the street layouts. But the history of lower Manhattan is just below the surface.
New Amsterdam, or lower Manhattan was an incredibly small community. Wall Street was the defensive perimeter, but there were farms, or bouweries, north of the wall.
The majority of the population lived well north of New Amsterdam (Beverwyck, Ft. Orange, later called Albany) where they traded with the Indians.
New Amsterdam was more of a trading post. Furs came south and supplies went north.
The real growth of NYC came after they set the city grid. The haphazard streets of Lower Manhattan and the east village were organic and reflected the earlier growth.
That I can propose a walking trip that takes in the financial district and city hall a short walk away gives you a sense of how NYC developed in lower Manhattan. That the marvel of the Brooklyn Bridge connects to lower Manhattan is another.
Central Park wasn't conceived until many years later.

This is Rich Lowry, who I guess has finally decided he'd better back the President.
I'd like a groveling apology first. Something along these lines:

The Press has never been more dishonest than it is today. Stories are written that have absolutely no basis in fact. The writers don’t even call asking for verification. They are totally out of control. Sadly, I kept many of them in business. In six years, they all go BUST!

Sidney Powell has a few questions fofr Andrew McCabe.
The most interesting to me is whether they opened a counterintelligence investigation on Dianne Feinstein after they discovered she had had a Chinese spy on her staff for 20 years.

Obama's surprise appearance at the Grammy awards this month promoted some speculation about a possible 2020 bid. In December, the former first lady said that she had "never" considered a political career and that she had no intention of running for office.
Michelle is afraid someone will give her the "Crocodile Dundee" test:)

daddy, are you still up? Can we get your permission to disseminate that inspired piece of lyrical talent?? I have friend who gets to post on Lucianne--I am certain that audience would appreciate it.
It so deserves a wider audience!
And Tony Kornheiser has a daily "drivetime" type podcast that has "Jingles" as a regular feature--AND Chris Cilliza is a "friend of the show," so if one of our talented musicians--?GUS?-- were to set it to music, I think they'd feature it as well.
Or do we need TM and clarice to decline republishing first? Do they have first right refusal?

“The Washington Post ignored basic journalistic standards because it wanted to advance its well-known and easily documented biased agenda against President Donald J. Trump.” Covington student suing WAPO. Go get them Nick. Fake News!

anonamom,
What good ideas! All I could think of was sending it to Rush, but I don't even know how one would do that.
I agree! It needs a wider audience!

from a FB friend -
Read his tweet thread👇
@MrEarpLA
1 👉
*Harris is VERY close to Foxx
* Smollett is tight with Kamala Harris.
* Smollett was with her at several rally's(Time's up)
* Harris had a lynching bill in the making.
* Smollett gets lynching threat letters. Gains no traction.
* Smollett pays 3.5k to create a lynching incident.
2👉
* Kamala Harris immediately jumps at the fake incident in the wake of her lynching bill being voted on.
* She was totally rattled when she was asked about Smollett!
* Time's up CEO Lisa Borders resigned yesterday. Smollet(and Harris) are very tight with that org.
3👉
The plan was to have Smollett's create the incident(in Cook County), have it on cam and then use it for weeks and months to slander Trump and his supporters? Harris and her friend Kim Foxx(State attorney) would keep this alive while Smollett's plays the victim all
4😁
Too bad that Smollett is a dumbarse and botched directing this hoax movie.
Smells like collusion up in here. They got his phone records I would think. Doubt it, but I hope we get to say hi to all the co-conspirators.

I ran across a tweet from "Out" magazine this morning, saying this is a typical action of racists. Honestly, I am not making that up!
