Not everyone is surprised by this slow trainwreck coming:
Police sources: New evidence suggests Jussie Smollett orchestrated attack
Unless I've missed an update we are still in the "Sources Say" phase, but it's hard to see how Smollett explains this away.
Now, a Frequently Unasked Question: Smollett had received a threatening letter a week earlier, which the FBI was investigating. Also a hoax? {Rick Moran has more at PJ Media.]
And when did the alleged attackers become white? Neither the initial NY Times nor Ebony accounts mention that, nor is it brought up in Smollett's initial statement. IIRC, in some statement Smollett said he didn't know their race since they were bundled up against the cold.
MORE: TMZ said the attackers were white in their initial coverage and recently claimed they had that confirmed twice.
A preview of preprinted signs for the latest "no borders" paid protests.

I liked the comment last night about how, should Barr attempt to triangulate with Trump this week over these coup tweets, Trump should do what he did not do to Sessions the day he recused: fire his ass.
And I do not think for one second that if Barr quits in a huff that it will hurt Trump one bit, it would just confirm he was the wrong person for this POTUS in the first place.

Chris Wallace is a idiot, IMO. The only true National Emergency in the USA is the border crisis,IMO.
How can one claim "April 12, 2010 (still in effect): Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Conflict in Somalia, continued in 2018;" is a National Emergency for the USA and the infiltration of terrorists across our Southern border is not? Chris Wallace is totally unqualified to be on local news, let along on national news, IMO.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., a 2020 candidate for president, on Sunday endorsed the idea of President Trump's team invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office if the circumstances call for it.
"My point here is that if they believe that Donald Trump cannot fulfill the obligations of his office, then they have a constitutional responsibility to invoke the 25th Amendment," Warren said during a press conference following a campaign rally in Las Vegas. "Their loyalty under law is not to him personally. It is to the Constitution of the United States and to the people of United States."
Would a psychosis that had you believing you were Native-American be a reason to use the 25th ?

I do not think for one second that if Barr quits in a huff that it will hurt Trump one bit
Depends on what he'd accuse Trump of on the way out.
I have high hopes for Barr, and I still think the whining tweets are counterproductive. If Barr is the right man for the job, he should be allowed to quietly strike fear into the hearts of the Obama/Hillary cabal as he slits their throats one by one.
With Barr finally in place, Trump's twitter bloviating doesn't achieve anything useful, imo, and may in fact provide defense attorneys with justification to claim that he unfairly tainted the jury pool. I can easily imagine a judge accepting that argument, for example in McCabe's case.

Posted by: Jack is Back (Again)! | February 18, 2019 at 09:38 AM
Yet McCabe said in the interview, "Rod raised the [25th Amendment] issue and discussed it with me in the context of thinking about how many other Cabinet officials might support such an effort.” He added that he believed Rosenstein was "counting votes or possible votes" to remove Trump from office.
This is all transparent ass covering by McCabe. Rosenstein would have no greater insight into how many votes there would be than any of us here. Of course it never occurred to a brainless tool like Pelley to question one fucking bit of this in his fawning fellatio fest.
RG still won't admit how wrong he was by insisting that Sessions was this really great guy who was another key part of the structure DJT put in place. There's nothing wrong with admitting fallibility about what was glorified guesswork about someone; in fact refusing to adjust to subsequent events looks a lot worse.

AURORA, Ill. -- An initial background check failed to detect a felony conviction that should have barred the man who killed five co-workers and wounded six others at a suburban Chicago manufacturing plant from buying the gun.
Months later, a second background check of Gary Martin found his 1995 aggravated assault conviction in Mississippi involving the stabbing of an ex-girlfriend. But it prompted only a letter stating his gun permit had been revoked and ordering him to turn over his firearm to police - raising questions about the state's enforcement to ensure those who lose their permits also turn over their weapons.

I am going OT here with a "lost phone" story that has devoured over 4 hours of my time both online, and on the phone.
On 1/26 Frederick, and his wrestling team headed up to Salisbury school on their bus for matches against Salisbury and Marvelwood. His iPhone died on the bus. When he back on the bus after the matches he couldn't find it. He asked me to call the Salisbury school to see if he may have left it the locker room. So, I did, and the school said no one had turned it in.
We tried to ping it but since it was out power we couldn't find it. I called AT&T to see if they had technology to locate a lost iPhone without power. No they didn't. So, I filed a claim with Asurion, and they sent me a replacement phone for $200+. 2 days after receiving the new phone, they found his lost phone on the bus he took to Salisbury. So, I call both AT&T and Asurion to report it was found, and I sent the replacement phone back.
That should be the end of the story, right? Not so fast.......
He was able to use his found phone for over 10 days until all of a sudden, out of the blue, without any warning, on February 15, Asurion initiated a "block or black list" on his phone. So, I then for 3 straight days spent over 4 hours with AT&T and Asurion to get the suspension lifted.
Finally, today, I called again, and a sweet young lady in Austin, Texas, was able to finally lift the blockage and reactivate his phone for me.
The lesson here is never lose your phone, and if you do make sure you have the time and patience to deal with a bureaucracy that replicates the TSA/IRS/Post Office.

MM,
Same reason, the little town in Florida to the west of us, has a huge population of Portuguese-American's re-settled from Rhode Island. It started with one guy, from their circle, who was a real estate investor. Started buying property here, building affordable homes, publicizing the area, the weather, etc. They started coming down in singles, then in 10's, and eventually in the thousands.
He has the biggest home on one of the canals, a huge rec facility that he uses for parties. He also built their community club which is almost right next door to his place.
So, it wouldn't surprise me that some Somali war-lord was resettled in Minneapolis, and his followers followed.

Pagar, I knew a family of nine Muslims who sought political asylum to the United States because of oppression in Pakistan; there are (according to them) 53 sects of Islam in Pakistan, and this family's sect apparently suffers all sorts of harassment from the biggest groups (Shia, whatever). They escaped Pakistan and lived in Sri Lanka for two years waiting for asylum. Now, they live here in Pennsylvania; I've met four members of the family, each one of whom is either employed or going to school. The four I've met are extremely intelligent and hard-working, they don't hate America (they love it), and they don't hate Jews - it seems that it's only people from India that they look sideways at. I wouldn't have any problem with one of them in government. I don't think it's her religion that is Omar's problem.

How did this happen?
15 years ago I don’t think it was true.
I am sorry to hear it.

No one should be allowed to run for political office of any kind unless they have lived here for 25 years and they can’t marry their brother to gain asylum.

Buckeye,
I lived in the southside "wannabe Carmel" area before I moved.
My son started out mowing lawns and graduated to lifeguarding and then working at a small retail chain. Daughter started out babysitting and then went to lifeguarding, then a retail store.
One of the reasons I encouraged this was for them to learn the value of money. Both enjoyed having their own money. It also taught them promptness and responsibility, as well as working with the public.
I think parents make a big mistake in not encouraging part-time jobs, at least in the summers.

no "reputable" media reported the MAGA claim.
Good point.

Back when I was a kid, a minimum-wage job could support a family of three. Today, a full-time minimum-wage job in America won’t keep a mama and a baby out of poverty. Our movement is about making real, fundamental change to fix this.

She is just a little bit younger than I am. When I was a junior in high school I worked for Woolworth's at the shopping center on our side of town. I distinctly remember I started at $1.20 an hour and got a raise to $1.30 after 6 months.
There is no way in hell that type of wage, even full-time at 40 hours per week, would have supported a family of 3. That would have been $62 per week, before taxes were deducted.
She is just spouting BS in the hopes that most of her voters are either young or stupid.

hrtshpdbox, IMO, there are people who come here of that religion that could take the oath of Office and mean it. I'm glad you have met some. I just don't think she is one of them.

Here's where she got that statistic:

That Warren quote raised my eyebrows as well. When I was in high school, minimum wage in New York was $1.50 an hour and then went up to $1.65. That was $3,432 a year if you didn't take vacation. That was not enough to support a family in New York in 1970. The average income for a family was closer to three times that.

Anyone else besides me think Trump’s tweet that Rocco linked at 10:00 was 100% kabuki?
Like everyone here Trump knows McCabe is a known liar. Why then if Trump knows McCabe is a liar would he believe McCabe’s account of Rosenstein’s alleged membership in the coup attempt? Besides, Trump has known about McCabe’s accusations against McCabe for a couple of months now and he didn’t fire Rosenstein.
Sorry Rocco but this is classic misdirection/deception IMO.
BTW today is first day of high school baseball so I likely will be out of the loop for most of the day.
Happy Presidents Day to everyone.

Somali resettlement started thirty years ago or more. It was already happening in Minneapolis (in much tinier numbers) when I arrived on campus as a freshman in the fall of 1987.
MN was chosen because of its generous welfare benefits for immigrants. The Lutheran church got the Somali concession. On it went, again not in huge numbers, until Obama ramped it up bigtime.

The Catholics have the Somali concession in Maine. Not sure about Columbus.

This probably was posted this morning while I was sleeping in, but if not, here's Victor Davis Hanson outlining what we have been through so far:

You beat me to it, peter.
Making $1.65/hour in greater NYC area is a lot different than making $1.65 in Indianapolis, or New Orleans, or Omaha due to cost of living. EPI needs to balance out those difference since Warren's fact is misleading.
