The NY Times swallows hard and front-pages on ode to the Pemian oil fields Low gasoline prices, the US as an oil exporter, Venezuela and Iran reeling, jobs, jobs, jobs - all they do is forget to credit Obama.
Wait, what? Credit Mr. "We Can't Drill Our Way Out Of This"? That would be crazy and they didn't try but... if I were an Earnest Obamaphile I would claim that although Obama paid lip service to the Green Agenda he never go behind the sort of federal fracking ban that, for example, Cuomo eventually backed in New York.
Sometimes doing nothing is a real cool hand.

Posted by: Narciso79 | February 04, 2019 at 01:39 PM
The U.S. is now the largest oil & gas producer in the world and they just keep discovering more reserves. We are now a net exporter as well, which will help with the trade deficit.
All of this has been talked down by Obama and the Democrats, who actually want to ban conventional energy sources despite the U.S. being the leading country in reducing carbon emissions.
Top down edicts don't work. Statist solutions don't work. They stifle creativity and innovation in favor of the rent seekers.
Now they want a total ban. The Luddites have been exposed.

It's true about stifling creativity and innovation, but... top down edicts and statist solutions work very well for statists and rent seekers. The problem is the growing number of voters who fall for it when the statists and the rent seekers say, "It's for the children." Maybe they mean their own children.

Not just fracked oil but also fracked natural gas. Not only do American engineering-construction companies build the export terminals but are leading the world in building the import terminals. We control the technology which has a lot of redundant safety systems.
A win-win-win, the last one is the NG export numbers. When you can control the full cost spectrum, you are in the proverbial world-wide energy driver's seat.

The weapon fires a beam similar to a strobe light that affects the target's eyesight, making it more difficult for them to aim at night. During testing, volunteers reportedly used rifles and guns to shoot targets that were protected by the weapon. The volunteers reported having trouble aiming because they couldn't see.
I suppose this is a great weapon if the Russians expect to conduct naval combat operations against enemy ships within firing distance of handheld rifles and guns.

Crawling out from under my rock after a week.
First, Momto2, heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Feb 2 has a special place in my heart. My youngest sis just had her 78th BD and my best bud from grade school turned 74. I think you hubs may have decided that leaving on his BD was a nice gesture to wrap things up.
Out here in the great NW, we've finally had a taste of winter. We saw some snow (not sticking) and got down to (gasp!) 22F last night. Yeah, go ahead and laugh. The good news is that I got a really good -3 sigma calibration on my heating system. I designed it to hit the high 20s before having to cut over to a propane boiler, but this morning with fairly high winds and 22F all night, the floors were just at 70F leaving the rooms more like mid-60s and the Garage-mahal and Jane's guesthouse at their usual 60 setpoint. Not that I mind using the boiler, except that it is a pain to cut over and propane is pretty expensive on the island compared to about $0.02/KWH after allowing for the gain from the heatpump system.
