Mongol Genes and the Drinking Habit There is a tendency to blame the Russians or “big brothers”, the terminology that was in circulation during the Soviet era in Mongolia, for transmitting the drinking habit to modern Mongols; however, the Russians take the opposite view. Vladimir Nuzhny from the National Narcological Research Centre of Russia states that almost half of the Russian population has inherited a Mon-gol gene having the effect of causing more alcohol to be absorbed by the blood.

I figured it was blatantly obvious that Harris does not meet the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution since neither one of her parents were American citizens at the time of her birth. I suppose at some point there will be a lawsuit that says anchor babies like Harris should be eligible to be President but AFAIK that case has never been filed before.

Are you going to file a case in California to keep her name off of the CA ballot?
Posted by: Tom R | January 29, 2019 at 04:53 PM

*****

Tom, you position seems to be that Harris's allegiance based of her birth alone isn't enough to satisfy the requirement. In other words she has too many allegiances.

Correct?

Posted by: Threadkiller | January 29, 2019 at 05:19 PM

*****

TK,

I haven't said anything about allegiances because AFAIK the Constitution makes no mention of that when it comes to POTUS eligibility. The only requirement that matters is the "natural born citizen" part. Your attempt to add your own personal eligibility requirements in addition to what the Constitution clearly spells out isn't going to win me and likely no one else here over to your side.

Posted by: Tom R | January 29, 2019 at 05:29 PM

If you agree about the relationship of citizenship and allegiances, as you claimed today, why did you bifurcate the terms back then? Convenience?

As far as your demanding that I find your quote where you correctly understand allegiance, none exist until today.

As I expected TK failed to quote my post where I explicitly agreed with him that he had a legit point about allegiances. As I expected he once again failed to provide any kind of citation in the Constitution, the US legal code, or a SCOTUS ruling that bars someone with dual citizenship from being POTUS. The allegiance issue is a legit concern but until it is officially banned in some Constitutional manner its a moot point.

I think TK is just mad at me for applying his Birther logic to Trump's kids (minus Tiffany). Should they be ineligible to be POTUS because they have dual citizenship thanks to their mother not being a US citizen when they were born?

I don’t want to even think this but it seems we are starting to enter dangerous territory of policy, and political separation that engenders violence on one side or the other. I see this immigration debate to be the real tipping point, not infantacide, or race relations.

I still am hopeful for an immigration deal.
I think some Dems are waking up to the fact that they could get some good credit from the voters if they can find a compromise.
Beto’s Stunt today is to try and get some mojo back before his run for the presidency.

Manuel Transmission

Clarice,

The guy I mentioned yesterday who went to work at Motorola in the mid-60s was very proud to demonstrate how to use his brand new microwave (~1970) by putting one egg in a small Pyrex bowl with a little water. Blam! Fortunately, it didn’t blow the door off, but still made a heck of a mess inside.

I wanted to soften up a little piece of butternut squash for my parrot, so I put about a 1"x1" cube on a plate and gave it 1 minute. About halfway through, it caught fire. The smell lasted for a couple of days.

Old Lurker

Jack, I think what you are saying is that, all other things staying the same, we could use our system to deal with Infanticide and even Race. But if the border is wide open and flooding in a tidal wave of new voters by the millions from non-complementary political environments which a) swamps the pool of original voters, and b) adds Billions/Trillions in new costs for that incoming flood, then the System is just not able to handle all those moving parts.

Add to that the maleducation of a majority of the starting point voting pool which creates half the population lacking in Cause:Effect logic, and BAM, we have the mess we are in.

My mind goes back to the early Obama days when nobody could figure out why he was sprinkling thousands of illegals into otherwise stable communities all over the country. They said it was to spread the impacts but I think it was to spread the agents of our demise (In Obama Speak = "Transform this Country") far and wide throughout the land.

Thing is, there is no middle ground and another five or ten years of open borders will seal the deed.

lyle

On the subject of eggs in the microwave:
A coworker (about 30 years ago) decided that he would like a warm hard boiled egg for breakfast. He took a cold (peeled) boiled egg and put it in the microwave. He did 30 seconds at a time, until it was nice and warm to the touch. Then, he took a bite of it. When he came to work, he had blisters above and below his mouth, as well as in and on it. It seems that egg whites are nearly transparent, but the yolk soaks them right up. The egg exploded in his hand and mouth when he bit it.
So, be careful heating boiled eggs in your microwave.

Dave (in MA)

I abhor the birther debate, but cathyf's point about other countries' ability to disqualify US candidates seems unassailable.

Maybe the loyalty concept was valid in a bygone era of general patriotism, but most US-born Dems are now disloyal to the Constitution, as opposed to many foreigners who would be willing to defend it if they could.

I'd take Viktor Orban or Matteo Salvini over any of the current or prospective crop of Dem candidates, for example.

Jane, I've been on Keto for abut 2 weeks. You're right, you are never hungry on it. My creatine-reactive scores keep rising and I'm hoping to reduce the inflammation (whatever the heck is causing it) mainly because I'm afraid it is the start of arthritis and I've seen how it crippled my mom. The only downside seems to be a certain amount of brain fog which I hope to heaven wears off soon. (It doesn't help that we're having work done at home with a ton of interruptions and noise, a cat which hates that and is going nuts, a husband who just retired and snowstorms which kept us all cooped up together.)

James D.

Two wrongs don't make a right plus Trump and the GOP can demonstrate the difference in how a Democrat gets treated compared to a Trump supporter.

Screw that!

The ONLY way the Democrats/Deep Staters/etc will EVER stop using any tactic is when they see it turned on them, and they understand that our side is willing to be as ruthless as they are.

Deterrence works.

Jim Eagle

Keto isn't for everyone but I just go sensible. No bread, no potatos, no carbs at all. Lots of fruits, veggies, salads, beef, chicken and fish. No snacks, no in between eating, lots of water durhing the day. No deserts, a little cheese, some hard boiled eggs, maybe a celery stick with some peanut butter.

Keep at it. Walk or work out. Breathe silently for 5 minutes. Take hot showers. Go to bed early. Wake up and walk the dogs. Make a big time smoothie of fruits, yoghurt, and protein powder. It works, believe me.
