Jeff Stein and Journolister David Weigel of the WaPo deliver a hard-hitting apologia for the botched roll-out of the New Green Deal and the accompanying FAQs from Team AOC. All that's missing is "Republican's pounced!" [Thanks to the NY Times, its no longer missing.]
Real journalists might have explored the ideological divergences on the left that led to obvious compromises on topics such as nuclear power and carbon capture (presumably views on farting cows are widely shared). Maybe even get quotes frim lefties ranging from moderate to Fully Delusional on those issues. Or don't bother. Better to pretend the Dems are on the same page.
Jordan Weissmann of Slate took the exploratory route with interesting results:
And a careful read [of the actual resolution] revealed that, for all its ambition, the resolution actually represented a compromise of sorts between the new wave of socialism-embracing enviro-warriors, represented by Ocasio-Cortez, and establishment climate hawks like Markey, who co-authored a cap-and-trade bill that passed the House but died in the Senate during 2010. Far-left environmental groups such as the Sunrise Movement, which staged sit-ins in Spaker Nancy Pelosi’s office over the Green New Deal, have threatened to oppose climate legislation that relies on nuclear power, carbon-capture technology, or “market-based mechanisms” to limit carbon, such as cap-and-trade or a carbon tax. This absolutist stance has startled and frightened some more-moderate climate activists and scientists, who believe that power sources like nuclear will be necessary to prevent the planet from frying and are worried that the left might be stumbling into an environmental agenda that will inadvertently doom us by rejecting necessary tools. It’s OK, in their view, to be overly ambitious about taming capitalism; it is not OK to rule out technologies we might need to save ourselves.
The Green New Deal resolution avoided these messy fights simply by staying mum on them. Instead of saying yes or no on nuclear, for instance, it set out the goal of “Meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources.” The words carbon tax aren’t in the resolution, which means the idea isn’t being ruled out. The compromise worked. Even if every Democrat wasn’t quite on board, the resolution netted 60 house members and nine Senators, including a bunch of 2020 hopefuls, as co-sponsors.
But then there was the unofficial version...
Ahh, well.
Early in the day, Ocasio-Cortez’s office sent out a FAQ to reporters that read a bit like the Green New Deal Uncensored—as if the resolution had gotten drunk at an office party decided to tell its co-workers exactly what it thought of them. Nuclear? On its way out. “It’s unclear if we will be able to decommission every nuclear plant within 10 years, but the plan is to transition off of nuclear and all fossil fuels as soon as possible.” Carbon capture tech? Not a priority. “We believe the right way to capture carbon is to plant trees and restore our natural ecosystems. CCUS technology to date has not proven effective.” The document even seemed to set its sights on air travel and beef. “We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.” To top everything off, the FAQ suggested Washington could pay for the plan essentially by printing money, thereby going full Modern Monetary Theory.
So why muddy the resolution by releasing this? Two ideas:
One obvious read is that the FAQ simply represents Ocasio-Cortez’s unfiltered views, and she will continue a push a version of climate policy along the lines it lays out.
Or, the Keep Hope Alive scenario:
Another way to look at the situation, though, is that the FAQ is essentially just a list of points that Ocasio-Cortez and her office lost on while negotiating the resolution with Markey. Most of the things that raised an uproar on Twitter—like wiping out America’s flatulent steer population—were not included in the resolution, after all. If you keep that in mind, the side-documents look more like an attempt to save face with left-wing activists, a promise that Ocasio-Cortez will keep fighting for their priorities even if the vast majority of Democrats won’t ever embrace them. As Markey suggested, the resolution is canon; the FAQs are fanfic.
The folks worried that democracy dies in darkness won't be shedding light on this.

Mongol Genes and the Drinking Habit There is a tendency to blame the Russians or “big brothers”, the terminology that was in circulation during the Soviet era in Mongolia, for transmitting the drinking habit to modern Mongols; however, the Russians take the opposite view. Vladimir Nuzhny from the National Narcological Research Centre of Russia states that almost half of the Russian population has inherited a Mon-gol gene having the effect of causing more alcohol to be absorbed by the blood.

As I expected TK failed to quote my post where I explicitly agreed with him that he had a legit point about allegiances. As I expected he once again failed to provide any kind of citation in the Constitution, the US legal code, or a SCOTUS ruling that bars someone with dual citizenship from being POTUS. The allegiance issue is a legit concern but until it is officially banned in some Constitutional manner its a moot point.
I think TK is just mad at me for applying his Birther logic to Trump's kids (minus Tiffany). Should they be ineligible to be POTUS because they have dual citizenship thanks to their mother not being a US citizen when they were born?

Ted Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship years ago. I don't know the status of Kamala Harris, who was born here, but raised in Canada.
Cruz's mother was a US citizen, so going by precedent, he is too.
I think the oath of office precludes any foreign allegiance.

Ted Cruz didn't renounce his Canadian citizenship until he ran for president.

Jack, I think what you are saying is that, all other things staying the same, we could use our system to deal with Infanticide and even Race. But if the border is wide open and flooding in a tidal wave of new voters by the millions from non-complementary political environments which a) swamps the pool of original voters, and b) adds Billions/Trillions in new costs for that incoming flood, then the System is just not able to handle all those moving parts.
Add to that the maleducation of a majority of the starting point voting pool which creates half the population lacking in Cause:Effect logic, and BAM, we have the mess we are in.
My mind goes back to the early Obama days when nobody could figure out why he was sprinkling thousands of illegals into otherwise stable communities all over the country. They said it was to spread the impacts but I think it was to spread the agents of our demise (In Obama Speak = "Transform this Country") far and wide throughout the land.
Thing is, there is no middle ground and another five or ten years of open borders will seal the deed.

On the subject of eggs in the microwave:
A coworker (about 30 years ago) decided that he would like a warm hard boiled egg for breakfast. He took a cold (peeled) boiled egg and put it in the microwave. He did 30 seconds at a time, until it was nice and warm to the touch. Then, he took a bite of it. When he came to work, he had blisters above and below his mouth, as well as in and on it. It seems that egg whites are nearly transparent, but the yolk soaks them right up. The egg exploded in his hand and mouth when he bit it.
So, be careful heating boiled eggs in your microwave.

Does anyone know why Gutierrez is getting arrested?
Why have we had such lousy criminal people representing us in Congress and the White House?
I am talking about the Clintons and the Obamas.
Next president will not be African American.
Been there, Done that.

Will Gutierrez get the Roger Stone treatment, with a D-Day level ambush of his residence in the middle of the night?

Some old ladies we knew in a trailer in Pomona had an early microwave in the late 60's. They kept a glass of water in it always. Must have leaked more than they did.

Considering that keto was originally developed to treat epilepsy, it seems logical to assume that it could affect brain functions you might not want to affect, at least temporarily.

Hopefully not. Two wrongs don't make a right plus Trump and the GOP can demonstrate the difference in how a Democrat gets treated compared to a Trump supporter.

Those RSBN kids are fantastic. Talk about dedication to conservative values.
They don't work for free but are always there when DJT comes to town. I gave them a big donation. I recommend we all do a little something.

Jane, I've been on Keto for abut 2 weeks. You're right, you are never hungry on it. My creatine-reactive scores keep rising and I'm hoping to reduce the inflammation (whatever the heck is causing it) mainly because I'm afraid it is the start of arthritis and I've seen how it crippled my mom. The only downside seems to be a certain amount of brain fog which I hope to heaven wears off soon. (It doesn't help that we're having work done at home with a ton of interruptions and noise, a cat which hates that and is going nuts, a husband who just retired and snowstorms which kept us all cooped up together.)

Screw that!
The ONLY way the Democrats/Deep Staters/etc will EVER stop using any tactic is when they see it turned on them, and they understand that our side is willing to be as ruthless as they are.
Deterrence works.

Keto isn't for everyone but I just go sensible. No bread, no potatos, no carbs at all. Lots of fruits, veggies, salads, beef, chicken and fish. No snacks, no in between eating, lots of water durhing the day. No deserts, a little cheese, some hard boiled eggs, maybe a celery stick with some peanut butter.
Keep at it. Walk or work out. Breathe silently for 5 minutes. Take hot showers. Go to bed early. Wake up and walk the dogs. Make a big time smoothie of fruits, yoghurt, and protein powder. It works, believe me.
