Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris admitted to marijuana use in college and then messed up her timeline, saying she toked up while listening to rappers who made the scene while she was a Deputy District Attorney in Oakland. Oops!
Most of the reporting came from the right but there was some possibility that lefties would take up the charge since there are already progressives who are skeptical of prosecutors. They are probably even more skeptical of hypocritical prosecutors. What, lock 'em up by day, light 'em up at night?
In any case, Team Harris's spokesperson is backpedaling to Newsweek, saying she was responding to a different question about which music she listens to. Eventually she may be asked by the progressive media whether she smoked marijuana after college and we may see more waltzing and tap-dancing.
Roll the tape! The "marijuana in college" is at about 34:10; The 'What music did you listen to, with a quick interruption to ask, what did you listen to while high' moment is at 38:00.
This incident is an interesting straw in the wind. Obviously the legacy media focuses on protecting the Democratic brand (When they write "Republicans pounce" I read "Lib media circle the wagons"). But this huge Democratic Presidential primary is going to be a festival of Blue-on-Blue. There will be times (this might have been one of them) where the media instinct to cover for their side can't work because some factions on their side want to discredit other factions. Fun, fun, fun!
MM will never accept it, but if Trump signs that bill and does not simultaneously make other moves to build the wall, then pretend all you want, but that will be Trump getting his ass kicked by Pelosi & Schumer with GOP help.
The big picture is half of the country does not want any more uncontrolled increases in our population from other countries and the other half actively wants exactly that.
Nothing in the bill serves the first half one bit, and since it does not, it serves the other half just fine.

🇺🇸State of Texas Considers Building Its Own Border Wall
🔗 https://www.breitbart.com/border/2019/02/12/state-of-texas-considers-building-its-own-border-wall/ …
Texas House of Representatives are preparing a bill that would provide $2.5 billion to fund a border wall. The proposal would take the money from Texas’ “Rainy Day Fund.”

Build a giant Wall along ALL 2000 miles.

Old Lurker,
Because I follow stuff on Twitter, I KNOW that as Jane says, the wall is already under construction. A great many of his supporters know this as well.
In addition, Mulvaney was on one of the Sunday shows explaining the funds he could use BESIDES the ones in this deal. I believe they found a LOT.
Why is it that you set up parameters that ONLY if he does things the way you would do it, he succeeds? Otherwise, you are willing to call him a failure,
Why aren't you pointing out that Pelosi has ALREADY caved by agreeing to the $1,37 billion? Remember, she said not one dime.
As Jack said, besides Mulvaney (and maybe Pompeo) there is NO ONE he can count on in DC. Therefore, he doesn't telegraph his strategy because he needs to avoid sabotage.
He is going to build the wall. Period. I would like to see El Chapo's money used in addition to what Mulvaney found, because then the dems would have to vote against it and that would REALLY put them on the side of the drug cartels, which is where I think they are, anyway.
Trump has not let me down, yet. We have the tax cuts, the regulations chopped, the new trade deals, the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital, the end of the Iran deal, etc. etc.
So, lighten up, Francis! :-)

I hear you, MM. Just calling it as it seems to me and a few of my friends who tell me I am not crazy (I no longer communicate with the others... :-) )
As to this from your post "He is going to build the wall. Period."
I am sure there will be more wall built before Nov 2020 by hook or by crook, but by any and all estimates, we will end 2020 with only a small fraction of the wall that is needed, even if you score the existing 650 miles of "old fence" the same as the new super-dooper style. Then if Trump loses in 2020, that will be the high water mark of wall building.
If Trump wins in 2020 but does not get a different Congress, then further extensions of the wall will be by dribs and drabs like Pelosi just gave him (forget not that the total cost estimate was >$25B, not $5.7B, and not $1.4B), plus whatever he can direct from other budgets before Congress steps in to slam that redirection door, which they can do if they like easy as pie.
The country has a clear cut choice to make about our future, and the Left wins either by forcing that choice and winning it, or by maintaining the Status Quo in which event the Uniparty will deliver what the Left wants anyway.

I think it's wishful thinking on the part of the Coup Brigade to think that Trump will lose his support over this budget deal. Trump will find other money, which will cause the matter to end up in federal court. I don't think Trump will lose support when the inevitable injunction comes down from some federal district court judge, and the case winds its way through a federal appeals court and SCOTUS.
Re GOP not dealing with this earlier when GOP controlled both sides of Congress: Duke and Duke GOPers take for granted the tax and regulatory initiatives successfully pursued by the Trump Administration, and would prefer to take those to the bank and ignore border security and immigration reform. Duke and Dukers still doesn't understand that no Trump, no tax and regulatory reform progress.

Why does Bozell want to push the idea of Trump as a failure? Was he a Never Trumper?
Maybe Bozell is paying attention to the callers on Mike Gallagher 's and Rush Limbaugh's shows. They are full of ultimatums.
Since 2016 every Trump concert has a groupie base of MAGA gear buying fans that scream for two encores that are never played. "Lock Her Up!"(drain the swamp) and "Build The Wall!"(fight the progressives),
Fickle fan bases don't like handing their life savings for a concert ticket that plays the elevator music version of their favorite tune. And that is what they perceive because they don't dive deep into politics like the average JOMer. Thinking they think about the long game is a mistake. They want results now. That is why they finally voted for Trump after years of sitting out the previous "best candidate that can win" long game.
Right now we are in the third year of Led Zepplin promising that they will play Stairway to Heaven. Groupies normally only wait 2 hours after the concert starts.

I took a whole lot of grief when I said that after Walker dropped out I was backing Trump. (And now we see that Walker wasn't all he was cracked up to be.) I was told I was chasing a celebrity, that he would be a terrible president, that he couldn't win the primary, that he couldn't win the general election. Once he won, I was told he would have a terrible cabinet, that he wouldn't keep his promises, etc. etc.
Well, I spent a LOT of time studying him, reading his books and watching how he behaved and actually listening to him.
I. Was. Right.
So, Eeyores and Ann Coulters and Never Trumpers can go pound sand. I am sticking with the best president I have seen in my 70 years.
Now I am heading to Kroger.

With the conviction of El Chapo there have been multiple articles calling for using his $14 billion in assets to pay for the border wall. The articles mention Ted Cruz' "EL CHAPO" bill.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ted-cruz-wants-el-chapo-and-drug-lords-to-pay-for-border-wall
What I can't find anywhere is confirmation that the US has actually seized and has control of these $14 billion in assets. Is it 100% certain that the US Treasury already has control of El Chapo's assets?
Lets assume Cruz's bill never gets passed by Congress. Does anyone know what the current federal law is that dictates what the federal government can legally spend the $14 billion in seized assets on?

The wall is the nearest thing to Ace's MacGuffin ever. The people will never desert the hero as long as he keeps after it.
Seems pretty simple for Trump to say, "Unfortunately, the Congress is unwilling to secure the border, so I will have to do it on my own authority."
I think declaring a national emergency is a far better approach than to play budgetary games.

Henry,
Here is a better accounting for how the money was spent.
https://www.justice.gov/afp/file/5-yr_forfeiture_trends.pdf/download
https://www.justice.gov/afp/page/file/1126581/download
https://www.justice.gov/afp/fy2018-asset-forfeiture-fund-reports-congress
Placing property into official use must support a law enforcement purpose, to include support for undercover operations. Attorney General policies require that
any property placed into official use must be supported by a written justification,
detailing the reason why the forfeited property was placed into official use and
these justifications must be retained for three (3) years.
Do you agree/disagree with the idea that a border wall that reduces the flow of illegal drugs into the US as well as reduces the number of non-citizens who violate US immigration laws constitutes a "law enforcement purpose"?
