Exactly, TK; that is the lesson that should be learned from that. She got elected because the incumbent was a worthless pile of shit who didn't do a fucking thing for the district and AOC, to her credit, flat out out worked him. That lesson is lost on Failure Theater, full of expense account padders like Rick Wilson and Rove, who excuse the lack of effort by quoting some dumbass comic strip as if they're reading Immanuel Kant.

CH and others got to this above, but Pappas was unopposed in the Republican primary and is an economics professor. 1. i was able to find with about a five minute search his very ugly divorce (at least one) and 2. he didn't even have an operational website (that may have changed during the general, but remember writing about it at the time).
CH had it right-AOC just outworked her Dem opponent who was bitten with the Eric Cantor bug and the GOP wasn't going to compete in that district.
why we spend so much time on essentially a backbencher? idk.
I think AOC reflects worse on the Dems than the Repubs, so I don't mind "smart conservative websites" shining a light on her idiocies. As to her R opponent: I always think Rs should run strong conservative candidates even in a losing battle, but I don't think this is a district where Rs had a snowball's chance in hell of winning. Still a good opponent would have made the case against her, and paved the way for possibly unseating her in 2020.
If Rs were smart (ha), they'd be grooming some Hispanic conservative to run against her. Maybe if I did like Beto and called myself Jaime, I could do it. I even can speak a smidgen of Espanol.

a lot of Blotto's "popularity" is just as much a reflection of the intangibles making Ted Cruz unappealing to a lot of voters.
If so, maybe it would be a good strategy to get Cruz a spot in the Trump administration, and appoint an appealing conservative in his spot (or to run in a special election, however they do it there)--preferably in 2020 while Beto is preoccupied with his quixotic run for president.
On Sunday's edition of Russia's weekly TV news show "Vesti Nedeli," host Dmitry Kiselyov showed a computer-generated map of the United States with several targets marked. These targets included the Pentagon, Camp David, the Jim Creek Navy communications base in Washington state, as well as a military training center in Maryland and a U.S. Air Force base in California that have both been closed for years. Kiselyov said that these targets were military or presidential command centers.
He then demonstrated the speed at which a Russian hypersonic missile could reach each of these targets if a nuclear war broke out between the U.S. and Russia.
"For now, we're not threatening anyone, but if such a deployment takes place, our response will be instant," Kiselyov said, according to a translation provided by Reuters. Reuters also said that Kiselyov is "close to the Kremlin."
Good Morning.
Here's a column on Winston Churchill making "Bad Optics" in WW2.
The article includes 2 images produced by the Nazi's to show how they used the image to portray Churchill as a War Criminal to the Germans.
Nazi propaganda minister Goebbels saw the image as a god send and used it extensively domestically, with the other Axis countries, and even in air drops over the Britain during the Battle of Britain with the text in English “WANTED,,” and at the bottom: “for incitement to MURDER.” The reverse of the leaflet is all text: This gangster, who you see in his element in the picture, incites you by his example to participate in a form of warfare in which women, children and ordinary citizens shall take the leading parts. This absolutely criminal form of warfare which is forbidden by the Hague Convention will be punished according to military law. Save at least your own families from the horrors of war!
So Joseph Goebbels and Admiral Kirby share the same world view as to what is "Bad Optics"---It must be a day ending in "Y."

That team drafted a climate change policy and formally submitted it to the governor’s office in September. The plan has not been implemented. The governor’s office sent letters to the climate change team on Friday saying their work for the task force “has ended.” The state website for the team, including the draft strategy it created, has been removed...

My sister and I should have bet on Brexit, because we were NOT surprised when they voted to leave the EU.
Now, it's been years since the vote andMay's government has dragged its heels, doing nothing, and obviously ignoring the will of the people. I think if they try for another vote, the Brits will be infuriated.

>>>Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought AOC beat a democrat incumbent during the primaries, and that she had no opponent in the general.

CH and others got to this above, but Pappas was unopposed in the Republican primary and is an economics professor. 1. i was able to find with about a five minute search his very ugly divorce (at least one) and 2. he didn't even have an operational website (that may have changed during the general, but remember writing about it at the time).
CH had it right-AOC just outworked her Dem opponent who was bitten with the Eric Cantor bug and the GOP wasn't going to compete in that district.
why we spend so much time on essentially a backbencher? idk.

Web surfing on an iPhone SE is about as bad as it can get.
Damn screen is so small barely can see it.
Just renewed my driver's license and passed the vision test without glasses by skin of my teeth.
Course I charmed the gal at the BMV bigtime.
She said I flubbed last two digits on right side but she was going to let me slide:)

I hate to admit this because he's a good conservative but I think a lot of Blotto's "popularity" is just as much a reflection of the intangibles making Ted Cruz unappealing to a lot of voters.

If so, maybe it would be a good strategy to get Cruz a spot in the Trump administration, and appoint an appealing conservative in his spot (or to run in a special election, however they do it there)--preferably in 2020 while Beto is preoccupied with his quixotic run for president.

It is my honor today to announce that Danny Burch, a United States citizen who has been held hostage in Yemen for 18 months, has been recovered and reunited with his wife and children. I appreciate the support of the United Arab Emirates in bringing Danny home...
...Danny’s recovery reflects the best of what the United States & its partners can accomplish. We work every day to bring Americans home. We maintain constant and intensive diplomatic, intelligence, and law enforcement cooperation within the United States Government and with...
...our foreign partners. Recovering American hostages is a priority of my Admin, and with Danny’s release, we have now secured freedom for 20 American captives since my election victory. We will not rest as we continue our work to bring the remaining American hostages back home!

Our brave new Governor just entered the hornets nets:
Dunleavy abolishes Alaska climate-change commission, removes roadblock for Knik Arm bridge
JUNEAU — Gov. Mike Dunleavy has abolished Alaska’s climate change strategy commission and has removed a procedural roadblock for several major construction projects, including the Knik Arm Crossing. Administrative Order No. 309, issued Friday, rescinds seven orders issued by former Gov. Bill Walker, including one from Oct. 31, 2017, that established the state’s climate change strategy and the Climate Action for Alaska Leadership Team. That team drafted a climate change policy and formally submitted it to the governor’s office in September. The plan has not been implemented. The governor’s office sent letters to the climate change team on Friday saying their work for the task force “has ended.” The state website for the team, including the draft strategy it created, has been removed...

Special for Gentlejim;
Finally got enough of a break in the weather to fire off the Smith and Wesson hand cannon 500 Magnum.
What an anti climax. My old 44 mags seemed more punishing than the 500. Extremely effective compensator and ergonomic frame.
It did however crack the wood grips I had installed so it is not without serious recoil.

Regarding Charlie Sykes and the rest of the Bulwark gang:
Does anyone remember them going so hot and hard after Obama? Clinton? (Insert sound of crickets here.)
They are acting hysterical and desperate. Why would that be?
I can only draw the conclusion that they are afraid of President Trump. Why would that be? Other than an occasional snipe at Kristol when he attacks, the President pretty much ignores them
I think those guys have been getting cash from libs for years, as well as certain lobbying groups (like those who profit from military expenditures). I wonder if they have been up to something illegal.
Just a thought, but they seem pretty desperate to me, as do those tech guys who are trying to silence conservatives on social media.

According to hysterical Liz on FOX she is reporting that Corbyn and the Labour Party have decided to support May's push to have another Referendum Vote in the UK to vote to not leave the EU.

It was a "binding referendum" in the same sense as in Massachusetts... It's binding so long as it goes the way the powers that be want it to go.

daddy,
My sister and I were over there for the Queen's Jubilee before the Brexit vote. Almost every sales clerk, tour guide, cab driver, etc. was fed up with the EU and had snarky comments about it.
