China Trade Deal (and more) in advanced stages. Relationship between our two Countries is very strong. I have therefore agreed to delay U.S. tariff hikes. Let’s see what happens?

daddy

Just watched your Richard Jewell video, Momto2. Sickening, and this bit posted at 21:42 is truly anger inducing:

After 15 years of litigation, the AtlantaJournal-Constitution prevailed in Court. Jewell was ruled a public figure and therefore not afforded the same protections as private citizens.

People like AOC will insist that we will have the technology to colonize the Moon and Mars in 10 years but the Earth will be unlivable.

Narciso79

It sounds exactly like the set up in Nicaragua in the 80s, which of course the usual suspects ignored.

PDinDetroit

Yeah, TM, we bought a new snow blower this year. So the lack of snow can be directly attributed to our Entitlement-minded Capitalistic-pigheaded Cis-gendered White-privileged Climate-denier-ism. Or some such nonsense.

We finally got a wheel-driven model, so tough to hook the dog up to pull the previous one (although our Border Collie "Jake The Dog" is ready to try again). I got the 16 year-old previous one working well enough to give to a neighbor, have enjoyed seeing him get out there and using it.

Mrs. PDinDetroit uses it as much as I have, she went and cleared the neighbor's driveway as they just had a baby. The man of that house got a talking-to, mom went out to the store while he was supposed to be inside taking care of the little one. We got it straightened out, but he was out toot-sweet at the next snowfall.

We had about 100,000 people without power in Metro Detroit last night with a peak wind gust at 61 mph at City Airport in Detroit. What really sucked was the air pressure changes that occurred with the storm: Fri PM at 30.51 inHg, Sun AM at 29.19 inHg, Mon PM at 30.41 inHg. Even with the RFA in play since Thurs AM and the Medicine routine, no way to stop a migraine from occurring. They are few and far between now, Thank God.

--After 15 years of litigation, the AtlantaJournal-Constitution prevailed in Court. Jewell was ruled a public figure and therefore not afforded the same protections as private citizens.--

That's the risk Sandman runs. The courts in their "wisdom" decide that the act of defaming a private citizen makes them a public figure, thereby affording protection to those who defame a private citizen into public figurehood.
Neat trick. It's like a court actually extending leniency to an orphan who got that way by shooting his parents.

I may be alone in this but I think the US star registry is one of the most ridiculous wastes of money and logic ever. God already named the stars. All of them.

I need to find this book I have which discusses astrology and it's origins from a Christian perspective. The stars and constellations already had Earthly names thousands of years before the Babylonians.

Neo,

Your 11:01 link to Don Lemon interviewing an opposing voice, John McWhorter, was excellent. Amazing that Lemon let him speak unhindered and did not constantly interrupt him. It was a better interview than Hannity would have given McWhoirter, simply due to the lack of interruptions.

I would be surprised if Nick Sandman would be ruled a public figure like Richard Jewell was. As far as I know Nick S has never been involved in any public discourse and certainly not as an adult.

A Richard Jewel standard could probably be applied to most of use here commenting at JOM, unfairly or not. One reason why in this social media age the public figure standard is invalid.

Good thing they moved on to Yvonne, Dave. (I admit it, I loved Lily Munster.)

On hysterical Liz's FOX Business show Deirdre just stepped in to report that MicroSoft Employees have issued a joint letter demanding MicroSoft stop some business arrangement they have with the US Army since they don't want to be a part of an outfit that kills people:

FOX Ticker Headline: Microsoft Workers Letter Demands Company Drop Army Hololens Contract

My transcript:

Liz: ...In the meantime some Microsoft workers are rising up against the US Military. Deirdre...

Deirdre Bolton:...They certainly are Liz. MicroSoft in November signed a contract with the US Army and it's basically providing some (garbled) but Microsoft employees put in an open letter to the CEO saying that they don't want the equipment that they have been working on to be used to help kill people. Those are part of the words in the open letter. We reached out to MicroSoft, we got this response: "We always appreciate feedback from our Employees. We provide many avenues for their voices to be heard...We are also committed to providing technology to the US Dept of Defense, which includes the US Army under this contract." As you know Liz, we have seen a lot of heightened activism, MicroSoft is not alone. We have seen the same from Amazon and Google. Worth noting that MicroSoft is up on the day. Back to you Liz.

On the extreme idiocy of John Kerry: On October 9, 2008, he said to Jim Lehrer on TV: "Well, let me just say quickly that I've had an extraordinary experience of watching up close and personal that transition in Russia, because I was there right after the transformation. And I was probably one of the first senators...to go down into the KGB underneath Treblinka Square and see reams of files with names on them. It sort of brought home the transition to democracy that Russia was trying to make."
This nitwit does not read Russian. He learned nothing from being trotted around to see files with "names" on them. Treblinka was a Nazi death camp. He means Lubyanka. Where he was taken but saw and understood nothing. And there's that word "transformation" again. Like magical fairy dust.

"In Connecticut Track Meets Bronze is the new Gold."

That's actually probably how it will shake out, if this crap isn't stopped. The women/girls in the sport will give top credit to the biological female who placed highest. It won't be official, but it will be understood among competitors.

daddy

daddy, take Catsmeat up on her pdf.

Thanks, SBW. E-mail sent.

Porchlight

Wait, let me amend my 4:20. The non-altered biological female who places highest.

In Texas, where there is a law saying competitors must compete with their own biological sex, normal girls are getting beaten by girls who are "transitioning" to male and therefore are biologically female but roided up on whatever (since no one is drug testing them).

Microsoft workers’ letter demands company drop Army HoloLens contract

Letter sent to CEO Satya Nadella

PD,

I recall posting here how about 3 years back my seatmate in First Class on an Alaska Air flight from Seattle to Oakland was Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. I had no idea who he was but everybody else on board did know who he was. He was heading to Berkeley to give some speech to Computer Sci guys, so I jabbered about my daughter in CalTech which he said was a great school. I recall some Korean guy walked done the aisle during boarding (we were in Row 4, me in the aisle, Satya the window) leaned over me and asked if him if he was the CEO of Microsoft, but I had already been swilling red wine copiously on the leg from Anchorage to Seattle, so I thought the Korean guy was an idiot. Satya blew him off, and then when the guy asked me if I was the VP of Microsoft I was certain the Korean was nuts:)

A bit later, when the Stew came by for drink orders (He drank Canadian Club on the rocks) I had figured out he was Indian, so I casually said to him my one phrase I know in Hindi "Toomarra Nom Kee-Ya-Hay?" What is your name? He laughed and replied Satya, and I replied "Meer-ew Nom Robert." I am Robert. We chuckled a bit and I apologized but said I spend a lot of time in Bangalore, and he said he was from Mangalore, so we shot the breeze about that for a few minutes, mentioned crickett but not Bollywood starlets, then back to my book and he passed out.

It was only after we landed in Oakland and he was gone that my co-pilot, in 3C, who recognized him, started quizing me about him and I said "Yeah I heard what that idiot Korean guy asked," so my co-pilot pulled out his cellphone and showed me Satya's pic and that at the time he was worth just over $80 Million.

Ha!

Select quotes from From Miss M's 01:11

When the home of Nikki Joly burned down in 2017, killing five pets, the FBI investigated it as a hate crime.

After all, the transgender man and gay rights activist had received threats after having a banner year in this conservative town...

In the prior six months, he helped open the city’s first gay community center, organized the first gay festival and, after 18 years of failed attempts, helped lead a bruising battle for an ordinance that prohibits discrimination against gays.

For his efforts, a local paper named him the Citizen of the Year.

And of course the very predictable finish:

Authorities later determined the fire was intentionally set, but the person they arrested came as a shock to both supporters and opponents of the gay rights movement. It was the citizen of the year — Nikki Joly.

Yawn.
