Here we go again.
I gave up on my Thunder when they were flat on their backs and playing no defense in the third. Don't stop believing!
On a more serious topic, polling from Virginia on whether Governor Northam should moonwalk down shows that voters aren't nearly as woke as the posturing politicians. And the obvious partisan divides (Democrats, African-Americans favor him staying, Republicans say "out") does not reassure us that this is first and foremost a moral issue.

I knew that Northam was staying after last Saturdsy’s Presser.
He has plausible deniability wrt the photo in the yearbook.
That was all he needed.
He lied during the campaign.
He won’t leave voluntarily.
The Richmond newspaper sees the handwriting on the wall.
What do these Virginia pols care about the Dem national ticket in 2020.
Fairfax’s fate is less certain.
Of course Herring stays because Northam remains.

So the whole Northam crisis revolves around his blackface rather than his call for the mass murder of infants. This guy is worse than Herod and the press snoozes.
That the Church (all of us of faith) as a whole has not called for his and Cuomo's excommunications and shunning is indicative of the moral weakness at the top.
These people are monsters. The NY Post reported that a man who brutally murdered his pregnant girlfriend, repeatedly stabbing the infant, had the charges dropped for the infants homicide because of Cuomo's new law.
Infants are now unpersons. Under the new rules soon enough it will be the elderly, the halt and the lame as well. Margaret Sanger's vision will be achieved. Only right thinking drones and their overlords will remain. This is what it means now to be a Democrat.

Regarding Hate's beer reference in the early pre-dawn hours on the previous thread, "Evil Twin Brewing" has listed as its address an apartment on the 14th floor of a high rise near the old Brooklyn Navy Yard. Are they really brewing in an apartment?
Lastly, is anyone else bothered by the redundancy of "Don't stop believing?" Wouldn't it be more concise to just state, "Believe?"
Also, how did the Duke basketball team shoot 61% from beyond the three, when all season they averaged 29% from that distance?

One thing that has struck me is how President Trump has citizen investigators and citizen reporters, who seem to have sprung up out of nowhere, and are willing to devote countless hours to helping him and defending him from attack.
We never saw that before, even when Bush 43 was wildly popular and we were reeling from the 9/11 attacks.
It's really quite inspiring to see all of these people from widely different backgrounds come together.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | February 10, 2019 at 10:29 AM
I agree. I think Trump won his legion of defenders because he was willing to defend himself. That was something neither Bush 43 nor Bush 41 were willing to do, and Trump learned from their experiences.
Remember how quickly the Democrats turned from voting to invade Iraq to unanimously opposing the War. Whiplash. But the Dems had a plan. They ignored all other points in that resolution, and said their vote was on the danger from Iraq's WMD. In retrospect I wonder if the Dems had CIA help in formulating their argument. Then with lots of media help it was all about Bush lying about WMD. Bush did a lousy job pushing back on that.
Trump learned from Bush, but he already knew he had to fight the Dems. And he did by pushing back on Dems PC narrative in the most obnoxious way possible. Early on it seemed he always picked the most insulting, in your face way to retaliate against an attack. Since then he's moderated a bit.
But he fights, he knows how to win, and he knows what stance is most likely to help him win. I also think he knows he has to win, and we know he has to win. And that's why he gets the help that Bush didn't get or the help that Bush wouldn't take. You don't hear much about the Army of Davids that Glenn Reynolds used to talk about, but they, we, were there. Still are.
Hmmm. Another tangent.

--The NY Post reported that a man who brutally murdered his pregnant girlfriend, repeatedly stabbing the infant, had the charges dropped for the infants homicide because of Cuomo's new law.--
Stop and think about that for a minute.
Now not only does the mother have control of "her own body", but apparently a boyfriend, or some violent stranger, can come along, stab a woman and kill the baby presumably even on the way to the delivery room and the mother who wanted her new little son or daughter apparently will receive no legal relief for having her child murdered. Nor will her husband or family and, most importantly, the child himself.
Is there some way for NY Dems to correct this obviously insane consequence? Does the baby magically become a human being with rights if it is a third party killing it rather than mom? They can never admit that, because even a toadstool, or Joe Biden, can recognize the irrationality of that. If it is magically a human being when a stranger kills it, clearly it is a human being when mom does too, and so as pro lifers have always maintained abortion is simply a legalized form of slavery and ownership of another human being.

Sad to say violent boyfriends or "baby daddies" are not that uncommon. A friend who was a DA out here in Los Angeles County prosecuted several cases where a "boyfriend" beat and stomped a pregnant woman carrying a child.
Now if I were Joe Biden ("in high school we'd take a guy like that out behind the gym and beat the tar out of him") I'd try to do that, i.e. beat the tar out of him. But Joe, being Joe, couldn't get the job done. Now if I were a high school version of Trump, the fellow would be left a bloody pulp. Trump gets the job done.

"No president in my lifetime has defended the Christian faith like Donald Trump."
------Franklin Graham
I would like to point something out that is my personal belief. President Trump is from a generation who doesn't share deep personal beliefs in public. He did go to Norman Vincent Peale's church, however.
I think he is sincere in his faith, and I think it has deepened since his campaign and election. People like Mike and Karen Pence have to have influenced him, as well as the black pastors who supported him.
Yes, he sometimes cusses. Yes, he has two marriages and dated Playboy Bunnies. However, the great Defender of the Faith, Emperor Constantine, also had a pretty checkered background.
I am fascinated with this aspect of his presidency, because I think we are seeing God's hand influencing events.

Sorry if already posted. Destruction of ballots in a challenged election does not rise to the level needed for prosecution?
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/02/why_didnt_doj_prosecute_fl_election_official_for_destroying_ballots_in_2016.html
Why didn't DoJ prosecute FL election official for destroying ballots in 2016?
By Rick Moran
Broward County, FL election head Brenda Snipes is back in the news, as a former candidate who ran against Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the 2016 Democratic primary wondered aloud in a tweet why the Department of Justice never prosecuted her for illegally destroying paper ballots from the race.
Tim Canova got only 43% of the vote in that primary, but he challenged the results in court. While the case was being decided, Canova requested that Broward County hand over the thousands of paper ballots that had been cast. When Brenda Snipes' office refused, he sued - only to find out later that Snipes.
---------------
It doesn't matter if the destruction of the ballots were intentional or not. But both the county and the feds refused to prosecute. Why?
Assistant United States Attorney for the US Attorney's Office is none other than Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's brother, Steven. And Canova found out from the local district attorney, who was considering prosecuting Snipes, who was involved in the decision not to prosecute Snipes:
I’ve been told it was Rod Rosenstein, the Deputy AG, along with his assistant Steven Wasserman no doubt, who stopped a Federal investigation into Broward’s illegal destruction of all ballots cast in our 2016 primary against Debbie What’sHerRig Schultz.

Then there's this wonderful country which our do-gooders helped put the current idiots in charge:
South African rescuers said Friday that they had been forced to halt an operation to rescue about 20 people trapped in a disused mine, blaming disruption from workers who had not been paid. Six people died after trespassing into the Gloria coal mine near the town of Middelburg in the eastern province of Mpumalanga, police told AFP, updating the earlier death toll of five.
The group went underground between Sunday and Wednesday to allegedly steal copper cables in the mine, which had been closed for several months.
“We have been prevented from continuing with the recovery operations by a disgruntled group of people who have not been paid their salaries,” Mike Elliot, who represents the administrators of the mine, told local media.
“They refuse to allow us to continue with the recovery operations and that includes repairing the power to the mine, restoring the power to the fans so that we can put fresh air underground.” He said some locals had attempted their own rescue operations.

Captain Hate,
My nurse sister has a friend whose father is a doctor from Venezuela. They saw the handwriting on the wall when Chavez got elected and moved up here almost immediately.
Monica has nothing but contempt for the Chavez/Maduro crowd. She calls them thieves and gangsters.
Roberts would probably be praising Trump's policy if Romney were enacting it. I would bet cash money on it.

I believe English indentured servants arrived before the African slaves. The title "Ancient Planter" applies only to those who didn't have someone else pay their way here before 1619, and you know there was no free ride, though there were small land grants to people who paid for others. There's an org like the DAR for their descendants, but they do less.

This is the Washington Examiner reporter who is down on the border at Eagle Pass, Texas. Lots of good information on police, Border Patrol, and military presence as well as actions by Mexican authorities.

There are good reasons to believe that but if Carter had remained as President it would've been more helicopters crashing in the desert.

RalphL,
The first African slaves arrived in New York in 1626 when it was New Amsterdam. We had slaves in New York until 1827. In fact, over 44% of households/manors in New York had slaves. The highest amount next to Charleston, SC.
Our local ex-slave hero, Pyrrhus Concer, was the first African-American to enter Japan's waters at Edo (Tokyo) in 1845 on my great-great-grand uncle, Mercator Cooper's whaling ship Manhattan. They were a whaling ship out of Sag Harbor that rescued a bunch of japanese fisherman who got stranded around the Bonin Islands.
Old Mercator, without Pyrrhus, also was the first to navigate into Antarctica.

Miracle on Ice was to me the greatest single sporting event I have ever watched. There may be some Olympic heroics, World Series games, Super Bowls, etc. But nothing that brought a country together like the 1980 semi-final Olympic hockey game agains the Soviet empire. They were considered unbeatable and invincible by every hockey pundit in the world.
Were they wrong.

Ralph L, you'd think all that arcane bell-ringing info would have something to do with the murder and the solution, but it doesn't--just ordinary physics. Won't spoil it for those who have yet to read it!
