Border Patrol and Law Enforcement has apprehended (captured) large numbers of illegal immigrants at the Border. They won’t be coming into the U.S. The Wall is being built and will greatly help us in the future, and now!

Momto2, were the surgical masks related to air pollution also?

“Voter vetting for my dad. He died 18 years ago.”

I think I posted at the time, 2016 maybe, about the lady ahead of me checking in at the voting station in Manhattan, patiently explaining to the poll worker that her husband, still listed next to her in the rolls as registered, had died 8 years earlier. He’s probably still on the rolls.

Amom, I think my flight on Sunday isn’t till 2:30 or 3, so I’ll try to be online.

I think the surgical masks were related to both fear of germs and pollution.

Also a bit of an urban fashion statement, not something you would see out in the sticks.

Of course in the sticks, no place to buy them anyway.

Most of their electricity comes from coal, but they're starting quotas of electric cars for the city smog, do more coal must burn. I don't think they have much natural natural gas.

anonamom, I haven't noticed an artificial taste so delighted I can enjoy something I would otherwise pass up. An equivalent portion of real cake and frosting would have sent my blood sugar way up.

I'm always on the lookout for Keto and gluten free recipes; lemon ricotta is a winner.

I enjoy bread and grain based foods but gluten is a deal breaker for me because it makes my joints ache like arthritis. I had joint issues throughout my life until in the late 80's when a chiropractor diagnosed me as allergic to gluten. The joint pain mostly cleared up after a couple of weeks without bread.

That's a good point, Buckeye. We traveled to an orphanage "out in the sticks" and didn't see the masks there.

I could not imagine wearing those day after day. They give me claustrophobia. My dad had a grain dust level mask he used when cutting grass. I could not wear it. I also wonder how effective the little paper ones are for pollution.

thanks clarice!

I was beyond thrilled when you came around to "carbs kill"---you so vehemently had defended bread in the past, I had no hope for that (and there was no way I was going to deny it either--I do eat bread, just rarely--but I knew there would some really great recipes to follow.

I also wonder how effective the little paper ones are for pollution.

Same here. I've wondered about their efficacy for any use although I figure surgeons employ them for good reasons.

This worry about legal immigration sort of stumps me.

If you need engineers, it isn't like unemployed women's studies majors are going to fill the slots.

And if you need more landscaping people in Florida, it's not like unemployed people in Harlem are going to be able to pack up and move south.

Enjoyed the article on the new bird species, Mr Pin.

I'm both impressed and, well, suspicious of the detailed list of who mated with who. Can you really get all that recorded accurately?

clarice

Re Keto, you have to search for baked goods that have some taste. The ubiquitous keto rolls are ok if you toast them. LC puts out a "boiled bagel" which is very pricey but not a bad sub and there are recipes like that I haven't tried. A good bet oddly enough is to be found in traditional Spanish and Italian recipes. (white flour was pricey and old recipes regularly called for nut flours.)
