Per Jacob Sullum of Reason, New Zealand has actually focused on function over form and essentially banned semiautomatic guns which can accept a detachable magazine above five bullets. They decided to abuse the language a bit by describing these as "military style" weapons, even though plenty of hunting rifles not tricked up to look like a prop in a Schwarzenegger film are on the market. The Ruger Mini-14 is the classic of the genre. In the US the hunting version is NOT SCARY but the Tactical version is a DEADLY WEAPON OF WAR.
Or off to war!
So NZ is showing a bit of logic. The gun culture there is much less prevalent and the legal rights are non-existent. This ban might even be somewhat enforceable on a small, remote island nation. OTOH, when they are already averaging around ten gun homicides a year (IIRC) its unlikely that statistically meaningful results will emerge.
Good morning, JM Hanes and all who follow!
I am listening to Tucker Carlson's show from last night and it is excellent!

I think POTUS is going to have to address the attempted coup, in that as big a segment of his base (The Flight 93 voters) is NeverHRC/ Never Dem as the BuildThat Wall base, no?
The Deep State needs to be exposed via declassifying materials that reveal the coup.

No week in pictures yet, and this has already posted, but just in case anybody missed it---
some truly gifted human spliced bits of Steve Carrell as Michael Scott in The Office and labelled it with all the D declared candidates who s/he feels it characterizes.
Definitely worth your time if you watched The Office.
Maybe even if you didn't--let me know.

Replying to @GovMikeHuckabee @realDonaldTrump
I want to remind people, especially the ones obviously upset with Fox news and are looking for other programs to watch, that Huckabee has one of the best conservative shows on TV. It's on TBN on Saturday nights, shown again Sunday night. (TBN is a Christian-based Network)
=================================
I had forgotten about his show. I will look it up on YouTube.

Jane: please help me understand how these two comments of yours can coexist...
You said this Thursday night, re: McCain - one of the coup co-conspirators:
'As much as McCain pisses me off. I don’t think damning a dead man, no matter how well deserved gains Trump anything.'
And then last night you said:
'This is not the time to sit back. That is why we always lose. It’s time to go after them. And BIG !'
Going BIG certainly means going after that piece of shit McCain and his allies, and exposing all of their bad deeds...

Good Morning! anonamon @6:24,funny!
Well,I think the MSM and Democrats are going to continue the insanity. They live in their own alternate universe. They are bitterly clinging to the collusion narrative. :)

THE DOCTOR'S AND THE CHIEF'S WIFE!
The Navy Chief's wife had been after him for several weeks to paint the seat on their toilet.
Finally, the Chief got around to doing it while the wife was out.
After finishing, the Chief left to take care of another matter, hoping to get back before the wife returned.
But wouldn‘t you know it, before the Chief could get back, the wife came in and undressed to take a shower.
Before getting in the shower, though, the wife sat on the toilet.
As she tried to stand up, she realized that the not-quite-dry epoxy paint had glued her to the toilet seat.
About that time, the Chief got home and realized her predicament.
The Chief was warned not to laugh or she wouldn’t visit him in the hospital - where the Chief was sure to end up if he so much as smiled.
So to break her free they both pushed and pulled without any success whatsoever.
Finally, in desperation, the Chief undid the toilet seat bolts.
The wife wrapped a sheet around herself and the Chief drove her to the hospital emergency room on base.
The ER Doctor got her into a position where he could study how to free her.
The Chief's wife, being the trooper she was after 17 years of marriage, tried to lighten the embarrassment of it all by saying,.......
"Well, Doctor, I'll bet you've never seen anything like this before."
The Doctor replied,........
"Actually, I've seen lots of them. I just never saw one mounted and framed."
The doctor is now a patient in the hospital.

Exactly right, Marlene! Even my news feed this morning shows a quote from Bill Maher that he doesn't need a report from Mueller to know that Trump is a 'traitor'... 😳

Beasts,
My car collector BIL is thinking about buying a 2009 Aston Martin Vantage.
Know anyone who has experience with one of these?
Will it be a headache?

My neurosurgeon buddy owned two of them, Buckeye, and he now drives a 6-Series, if you catch my drift... :)

It was so bad that his wife threatened to buy a condo in Buckhead just to save on hotel bills while they were in Atlanta having the damned things serviced!! Gorgeous vehicles - but probably not worth the trouble. Ferrari of Atlanta gave up their AM franchise because they got tired of dealing with angry customers...

My theory is this entire Russian collusion thing, as well as all the other BS the left has been up to, is all an attempt, so far successful, to divert attention for how the entire government has been weaponized by the left.
We know about tons of corruption at the FBI, DOJ, State Dept and nothing has been done because we are so busy with Russia. And my guess is most of elected dems are also part of it.
So the scramble is on. Dems must keep everyone busy so we have no time to reveal how they are successfully stealing our country.

Beasts,
Seems to me it is a much smarter plan to go after the people still alive, since they continue to try and destroy this country. YMMV

If we should ever wonder how we got to where half the country sincerely believes Trump should be impeached for being Russian agent, Freidrich Hayek explained in a chapter "Why the worst get on top" in "The Road to Serfdom."
The "group which is... to impose by force upon the rest of the people" includes Democrats, journalists, bent FBI agents, leftover Obama DOJ appointees, and other SJWs. "The good of the whole" demands that extraordinary measures be taken, which puts a premium on the type of people who are willing to take them. Intelligence and honesty are useless qualities when the goal is Social Justice, since Social Justice must eventually be imposed.
So, there's a market. Buyers in the market are players like Soros, Steyer, and Hillary with her Clinton Foundation. When the buyers contribute to their causes they are not buying integrity -- at least, not integrity in the traditional sense. The integrity they hope to attract is a sense of loyalty to Social Justice causes.
By the time any of them figure out that Social Justice issues are contrived, meaningless issues, it's too late. They've grown comfortable. There's too much to lose. They are unwilling to give up the luxurious lifestyle, and Social Justice becomes only the pretense with the real goal being just to hang in there.
We're there. In the newsrooms and in the corridors of power, they know that Social Justice is horse shit. But they have no choice but to soldier on in the name of Social Justice. Their livelihoods, maybe even their very lives, depend on it.
We're fortunate that America is still a country of markets. In countries where there are no markets to speak of, resorting to force to establish Social Justice happens early on in the process in the form of a military coup. Here in market oriented America, a military takeover is out of the question. Instead, you might say that we've reached the bursting point of a Social Justice market bubble.
The question is whether or not we will ever be back here again in a future market swing. Unless the Social Justice players pay a heavy price for the criminality that arose from their misplaced loyalties, we might be back here sooner than you think.
Whew, pretty windy today!
