Politico provides a nice puff piece for Presidential aspirant Gov. Inslee of Washington:
‘Climate warrior’ jolts 2020 presidential field
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is about to take climate change politics to the next level.
No one has ever won a major statewide race, let alone a presidential nomination, with a single-issue, climate-focused candidacy. But Jay Inslee is about to try.
The Washington state governor launched a White House bid Friday that stands to have a significant effect on the electoral politics surrounding climate change.
Yeah, yeah and good for him. Incredibly, the article makes no mention of the failed, Inslee-backed Nov 2018 Washington State referendum on a carbon tax.
So what's the campaign bumper sticker? "Inslee 2020 - He's Learned From His Mistakes"? Or is this a sly stealth strategy, figuring no one will take seriously a guy who can't get it done?
Baffling. [Not baffling - brand promotion, obvi.]
MORE INTERESTING: The Times writes about the changing climate on climate change within the Republican Party. There are bothTrump v. Science and Trump v. Establishment angles; here we go:
With Climate Science on the March, an Isolated Trump Hunkers Down
By Coral Davenport Feb 28, 2019
WASHINGTON — New efforts by President Trump and his staff to question or undermine the established science of climate change have created a widening rift between the White House on one side, and scientific facts, government agencies, and some leading figures in the president’s own party on the other.
Wait, "Coral" is writing on climate change? What next, "Hemp" on marijuana reform? Anyway, on the to leading figures:
At the same time, more senior Republicans, including those in Congress, are moving in the opposite direction, acknowledging the established science and publicly calling to reduce fossil fuel pollution.
To be sure, some Republicans continue to question, or, more commonly, to remain silent on the issue of human-caused climate change.
But in February, three of the top-ranking Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Greg Walden of Oregon, Fred Upton of Michigan, and John Shimkus of Illinois, published an op-ed on the website Real Clear Policy in which they said, “climate change is real” and called for innovations to “reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”
Similarly, in December, Senator John Barrasso, the Wyoming Republican who is chairman of the Senate Environment Committee, wrote an op-ed in The New York Times in which he acknowledged his acceptance of climate science but also criticized the Paris Agreement and proposals to tax carbon dioxide emissions.
Do let me add that economist and Republican adviser N. Gregory Mankiw pushed a revenue-neutral carbon tax back in 2007.
But for more: Tyler Cowen notes that as some countries go green the price of fossil fuels will probably drop, which may not encourage laggards to also green up.
Megan McArdle notes that since the US isn't really the problem (Spoiler - look to China and India), decarbonizing the US won't be the main solution. What will? Investment and innovation that leads to technologies that can compete with fossil fuels without subsidies only the US, Europe and Japan might be able to afford.
No matter what rich-world economies do about their energy consumption, or what “moral leadership” they exert, people in the non-rich world are going to want to drive cars instead of walking; to wash their clothes in machines instead of in a river; to cool their houses with air-conditioning; to eat meat every day — in other words, to do and own all the things that make modern rich-world lives so safe and pleasant.
An anon is saying the reason China is buying up and colonizing Africa is that they believe the Earth is going into another Ice Age.
I suppose it also makes sense as a pressure release valve for their population and economy.

FOX's hysterical Liz says they have recovered the Voice Recorder from the Cargo 767 that crashed in Houston last week. That'll give them some input, but they'll need the Flight Data Recorder to try to determine what the various aircraft systems were doing and why. Yesterday I saw the video of that Jet's last few seconds, taken from a security camera from a nearby prison and the nose is pretty much pointing straight down, so my guess is what was being said in the cockpit, if anything other than exclamations, is not going to be very illuminating without the FDR.

I recall that last month we were all pissed off at Gillette Razors for telling us exactly how to live our lives, and that the way we had to live our lives was to denounce Toxic Masculinity and turn into whatever form of pussies they mandated we be turned into.
So that said, just saw a brand new TV Ad for Gillette Razors for women: Gillette Venus. Can't find any pix to download from it, but the main character is some woman in a white tank top with big nose ring and tattoo's up and down her entire arm and back, with some skateboard on what looks like the Waikiki strip. Here's the ad and what it says: (My transcript)
"With Venus you're in charge of how your skin feels. So when the world expects you to follow the rules, write your own. (Music starts---"Baby she's got it") Because no one gets an opinion on how you live your life, why you shave, or how you show your skin. My skin. My way.--- Gillette Venus. My skin. My way.
Got that? Everybody on the Right has to live their life exactly like we Leftist cultural fascists here at Gillette damn well tell them to live it, but our very next ad is going to remind the Left that nobody on this planet gets an opinion on how to live your life as long as you live it like a Lefty.
Gillette delenda est.

daddy-
Hubby who was the multiengine instructor to his bro who flies those for one of the majors got together this week and wondered if it was some kind of cargo shift with the imbalance triggering some kind of horrific set of events.
I can remember the phone calls here from former students with majors now when there were several events with the brasilia and hubby, who had a pitts biplane then, asked if their simulators were reenforcing until it was a habit that the plane doesn't care if it's upside down.
The loss of balance here could have been so sudden the reaction sapped away all the airspeed. That happened to a friend of my dad's who tried to turn back when he lost an engine and crashed straight in instead of gliding.
My dad eventually got the faa report and then gave it to me to explain to my mom why he was going to keep flying as he said "he would never try to turn."
I think giving an faa report of a fatal crash of the family minister to an 11 year old was probably not the best idea.

I need some verification on this. Vodka bottled for Russians has thin foil caps that can't be put back on because it's assumed that the whole bottle will be drunk in one sitting.
Did you know that Tolstoy was commissioned by the Duma to write a warning label that was to be placed on every bottle of vodka?
Alcohol is a poison, harmful to the soul and body. Therefor it is a great sin to drink alcohol oneself and to offer it to others. And also it is an even greater sin to produce and sell this poison.
Seeing as how the Tsar produced the vodka, he vetoed that label. Kind of like the Duke and Mozart I suppose.

This is a short version of Justin of Canada's scandal. From the CBC...SNC Lavalin faces charges of corruption and fraud in connection with nearly $48 million in payments (bribes) to the Libyan government between 2001-2011. SNC had hoped its corruption and fraud charges would be resolved with a deferred prosecution agreement. (DPA) A DPA would spare the company a trial and possible conviction. The Public Prosecution Service of Canada said SNC didn't met the criteria for a DPA. Last year,Trudeau's government amended the criminal code to establish an amendment re: DPAs.SNC lobbied the government to introduce the amendment, that companies could be spared criminal charges and pay a financial penalty. Needless to say,a criminal charge would harm a company and the economy (in this instance,Quebec). The conditions for remediation states that the prosecutor must not factor the national economic interest. Wilson-Raybould's allegations about pressure to interfere in the SNC matter includes about a dozen top government officials, including Trudeau. So,that is the short version. :)

Tolstoy eschewed the Keto diet.
Only partially IIRC. As a young man he was not an idiot and had no problem eating meat. As a nutty middle ager he went into his Vegan phase, about the same time he decided he hated owning land, considering it amoral, so he signed over all his property to his wife. Then later in life he had a change of heart and went back to eating meat, to the astonishment of his family when he said, pass the steak, and then as I recall he got in some big stink trying to take back ownership of his property from his wife. All vague in my mind but that's what I recall---happy to be corrected if wrong.
As for Darwin and Keto, when he spent his weeks on horseback with the anarchic gauchos in pampas Argentina, like them he ate nothing but meat, morning, noon, and night, and I recall he was in great shape and was impressed with the endurance and ability of his saddlemates---he thought them the best horse riders on the planet and he was one hell of a good horse rider himself. And when starving in southern Argentina he shot a cougar or panther (I forget which) and he and his hungry shipmates feasted on that.
Twain I think ate anything:)

Daddy "Where has $850m gone? Bill de Blasio's wife can't account for staggering amount of taxpayer money that the NY Mayor gave her for mental health project"
Rush had a segment today about wealth creation under socialism/communism compared to capitalism. Of course we all know socialism almost never creates wealth. The he asked "what country do you think has the most billionaires?" and the answers he got were the obvious USA, or other places really really rich people are.
But the answer was Communist China because under socialism/communism the ruling elite loot whatever wealth there is in their country and those few get very rich. Some think Vlad Putin might in fact be the richest man in the world if the truth were known.
So obviously Bill de Blasio read the how to manual.

I have asked China to immediately remove all Tariffs on our agricultural products (including beef, pork, etc.) based on the fact that we are moving along nicely with Trade discussions....
....and I did not increase their second traunch of Tariffs to 25% on March 1st. This is very important for our great farmers - and me!

I love how the WaPo's "Editor's Note" correction, linked by Miss M at 05:51, is hidden behind the WaPo's Pay Wall.
My bet is that much of the WaPo's reporting last month that irresponsibly damned and defamed Nick Sandmann, was not hidden behind some paywall but was front and center to steer the narrative to America that the Covington High schooler was a MAGA hat wearing, racist bigot. If I'm not incorrect, I think their weasely "Editor's Note", being hidden behind a Pay Wall instead of Front and Center as their main headline today for wide dissemination, is another point theat Attorney Lin Wood can and should use to convict the Washington Post of intentional defamation of character of an innocent American.

Still No Arrest 10 Days After Assault on Conservative Activist at Berkeley

Talk about a page from Hillary's playbook! Take a look at the chart, if nothing else!
By the way, they are talking about foreign money.

One of the reasons I knew Trump would win Indiana was that this state loves Bobby Knight, whose personality is much like President Trump's.

I've got a better Sarah Jeong quote.
"Me Chinese, me play joke, me go pee pee in your Coke and your fucking fire hydrant."
It's getting closer folks, the COMMIES are acting UP!!

This is from last fall, at the rally my sister and I went to. If you scroll about halfway down the page, you can see Knight in a video walking out on the stage rather haltingly. You can also see how big the fieldhouse at my old high school is (seats 7200).

Wow, for some reason I thought Jordan was a buckeye. How about those red apples. Frederick after his first season of wrestling will confirm it is a work out plus for those 6 minutes.
Congrarts to Jordan whatever school he played for.

As a kid, I remember during basketball sectionals they'd get about 8000 by selling 'tickets' after all the seats were taken.
