I haven't been to Auburn, so I don't know about the "Loveliest Village".

My dad spent the first year of his WWII Navy duty there getting the Electrical Engineering curriculum force feed through a fire hose.

He said it was the best time of his life, as there weren't many guys on campus, but lots of the loveliest southern belles.

He never discussed this in front of my mom:)

I'm conducting an experiment with a chuck steak simmering in water. Objective is to find the perfect cooking time so I can do it with yellow curry, beef broth, coconut milk, onions and carrots.

2hrs	still slightly tough
2.5	nice, still firm
3	nicer flavor, less firm
3.5	starting to fall apart, could use forks to separate
4	still cohesive, good taste

I think Rosenstein is a turncoat. And by that I mean he happily switches to whoever he thinks is winning. And I think that is well known.

I also think it was brilliant for Barr to include him in his review of the "report". He'll do or say whatever keeps him employed. But I think Trump et al are on to him.

--I assume the President is surrounded by newer trees on all sides. Look at how skinny they are, yet of almost the same height.--

Most are not sequoias and they're not the same height, they were growing on an upslope behind the sequoia. Regardless a huge sugar pine might be 600 or seven hundred years old, 10-12 feet on the butt and still grow to 250 feet. All trees top out at a maximum height but they never stop putting on girth.

Most of the truly ancient, giant sequoias are scattered through forests of other smaller trees. They do grow in groups and groves but a lot of them are separated by a good distance from other giants.

About Frau:
It's touching to read the tributes to Frau, especially yours, TK. I recently sent a long note to Mr. Frau, mentioning that many at JOM are missing her. If I hear back from him I’ll let you know. Unlike in the case of Daddy, there seemed no way to formally memorialize Frau's passing, hence less opportunity for closure.

Btw, my granddaughter is one of those fine young Americans (h/t KK) in her second year of serious civil engineering study at Cal Poly SLB. She's dedicated and already has a summer internship lined up.

The conspiracy theory already taking hold is he was killed because of a documentary he was making about an Alfredo Bowman. Bowman, who was a Honduran herbalist going by the name Dr. Sebi, was killed, so the conspiracy goes, by Big Pharma because he could cure AIDS with herbs.

i'm still not getting the 4d stuff and my eyes glazed over trying to make sense of the dawson's field, panama papers, link ... he went from NY regulators to FBI/DoJ (... mostly i think it is a misreading of the tea leaves. it wouldn't be shell companies in panama it would be the carribean banking centers that service Big 501 here in the US that i'd say, finally!)

i'm trying to figure out how a 5AM televised raid on Roger Stone, yeah a fixer and a bit of a creep, but how all that could be witnessed and people still have some sort of 4d theory ... preventing that kind of abuse was the whole reason for the Church and Pike Committees and ostensibly one of the things that an army of social justice advocates wanted to end (specifically the militarization of the police). that shit doesn't happen in a free country.
