British Parliament votes to Keep Chaos Alive by requesting an extension of the March 29 Brexit deadline.
To what end? From here in the cheap seats I see a second referendum focused on "Remain" versus the specific twice-repudiated Theresa May deal on the table, with the hope that this time the Remain faction can pull the country together.
Lawmakers rebuff the idea of another referendum
The British Parliament on Thursday rejected a measure calling for a second referendum on Brexit, dashing — for now — some activists’ hopes that Britons would reverse themselves and vote to remain in the European Union.
The amendment seemed doomed from the beginning, as the notion of a second referendum has never commanded a majority in Parliament. It was dealt a staggering blow earlier in the day, when the biggest campaigners for a public vote urged members of Parliament to vote against the measure, saying that Thursday’s focus should be solely on delaying Brexit.
The Labour Party, always leery of a second referendum, quickly announced its opposition, too, though individual lawmakers walked a careful line in trying to maintain they supported a second referendum in other circumstances.
“Today is not about the Labour Party saying it wouldn’t support such an amendment,” Keir Starmer, Labour’s shadow Brexit secretary, said in Parliament Thursday afternoon. “It’s about saying today’s about extension.”
The measure failed on a vote of 334 to 85, with more than 200 lawmakers not voting.
Meanwhile the US Senate made its own bid for the front page, rejecting Trump's wall emergency with an impressive number of Republican defections (12). But 59 votes are not enough to overturn a Presidential veto.
The Senate really ought to amend the emergencies act that gave the President this sort of power.
At some point they're just going to ignore the Deplourables and stick with the EU.

The Senate really ought to amend the emergencies act that gave the President this sort of power.
Amend it how? There are times in which the President has to act quicker than Congress does. The money has already been allocated by Congress so it's not like he's usurping the power to initiate spending. There are still open emergencies from past administrations so it's not like immediacy of action has been part of past actions that sailed through without an iota of opposition.

And now San Fran Nan is pushing lowering the voting age to 16. By any means necessary.

Fact:
Right now we don’t have a MAGA party.
What can we do now besides weeping and knashing of teeth?
The President and the Republican Senate need to work and compromise together to present a unified message to the American people. Both share the responsibility to make this happen.
Find out what caused Roy Blunt to vote to stop the emergency order.
Tons of interaction and communication work needs to be done.
Not just tweets.

Maryrose, Your Senate, including several you personally worked hard to empower, just voted 59 to 41 to allow unfettered access to your country to millions more upon millions more including criminals, rapists, murderers and drug runners, and illegal job applicants and welfare hogs who can then fan out among all fifty states. In many of those states, they will be invited to vote to increase that paltry 59 number so it will never be so close in the future.
I really don't care that you want to protect them so they can kill again. Those 59 Senators are enemies of the country they swore to protect.

Iron Dome can track those missiles from the moment they launch. The Israelis know exactly when and where. The question, I guess, is who?
Netanyahu just warned the Iranians that they know what is going on in Golan, where Hezbollah want to open a second front.
When we were in Israel, we drove along the old northern border fence and the land mine signs were still up.
I think the Iranians are thinking with their cojones. They are just wrapping up a very expensive, deadly war in Syria and seem to be hankering for another one with Israel. The residents of Qom (Mullahville) may want to think about relocating.
The mullahs are heartily disliked by most of the population these days.

To me, this vote is the brightest of bright lines about Open Borders for All. It is the height of folly to pretend it is just another of many votes.
Frankly, as you know I think our goose is cooked already because of the mess we already have created. Throw in another 10,20,30,40 M mouths to feed and votes to lose, and we don't have a snowballs chance in Hell to salvage the country of our Founders and our Fathers.
That makes them enemies in all of the classic definitions of the word. The problem is pretending otherwise.

So, Mary Rose, in your orthodoxy of American politics, it is up to the POTUS, to beg Congress? Actually, it's the other away around. Read the Federalist papers sometimes. We are not equal branches of government we are a government with checks and balances.
Trump has every right to demand of Congress to agree with him. If they don't he also has the right to veto their disagreement. Eventually, it all settles, in the end, one way or the other. The worst thing to come out of the Constitution was to make the SCOTUS somehow an equal branch when they are not. They have use fake law to make themselves that way.
I mean they continue to make non-constitutional opinions which are contrary to their actual remit.

I think most are underestimating the significance of this. Not substantive. Veto will be sustained. Court cases will go nowhere. Inferior barriers will be built, to some extent.
But that in 2019, the GOP could feel safe in pulling such an outrage .... tells me they've calculated the electorate is not to be feared. Trump was a black swan, and a one-off (even if he's re-elected). Critical aspects of the agenda that lifted Trump into the WH can continue to be snubbed, or actively undermined, by the GOP. With impunity.
Not shocking, but a bit surprising, and scary.

I hope 11 of those Senators die in a fire.
I except Rand Paul because he is consistent in his orneriness. The others are only willing to fight Deplorables. They have no stomach for the fight against Deep State.

Wow. The FBI caught a couple semi rich and famous offspring. I guess they devoted more resources to that than the Vegas shooting.

These are not the trophy off-shore marlin but rather the young onshore marlin. He can do the big guys also but not this time. This is a kid, now 40 y.o. adult who started raising Discus fish in tanks in our basement in North Potomac when he was 14. Became a recognized breeder of tropical fish by the age of 22. Knows more abou Miamt fish than a PHd. at U. of Miami aquarium.
Wait and watch how he gets his bait..

CH,
I understand your opinion on the use of FBI resources on the #collegegate exercise but if it started as an SEC investigation then let the chips fall where they may. Unlike you, I think its a big deal since Frederick now has to run the new hurdle of ACT/SAT testing under a new microscope.paas
Yes, could spend my life's work and make a huge donation to MIT or even Cincy but why? Frederick has to either earn or fail on his own. Not my say so. He is his own man, (well soon to be). Just do it Frederick and let the grades reflect your true intellect and promise in life.

Can you agree that President Trump needs to communicate better with the members of the Republican Party?
At least communicate and recognize their importance in the process instead of trying to go around them?
No, exactly the opposite--these egomaniacs need to support the POTUS who is leader of their party who has the strong backing of a large majority of their party.
I hope every one of them, including Rand Paul, gets primaried and loses.
I guess my email to Tillis telling--not threatening, PROMISING---that I would strongly and actively support any opponent in a primary, brought him around. ;-)
