The underlying reason for the adoption and expansion of daylight saving time as an energy saving strategy is now being questioned, with studies indicating that it might have the opposite effect as once thought. Much of the energy used in the evening is now used for air conditioning, rather than lighting (which is becoming more efficient). If you extend evening daylight hours, home air conditioners have to run longer, consuming copious amounts of energy.
Allegedly, it's more efficient to turn the A/C off when you leave the house for a while, but who wants to come back to a hot house and wait to breathe? That would also cause a huge power load on the utilities at quittin time.
If I don't run the A/C at all, my house gets hotter after dark than it was in daylight. It takes a while for the attic heat to conduct down the old wood ceiling.
IANAL but I am fairly certain whoever that was did the proper thing, both ethically and legally. Why would the DOJ turn over criminal evidence to the public before indictments and a trial to any Joe Blow who submitted a FOIA request?
I'm pretty sure that it not being ethically and legally proper was the point of the article. This is why arguing about things like this is so frustrating; you don't get to pick and choose when you feel like adhering to the law. You and I may not like the entity requesting the data but you have to provide it.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to pass sweeping tax hikes on the wealthy, but the freshman lawmaker might want to take care of her own unpaid tax bill first.

CH and Clarice,
Read this tweet thread especially the points made about the problems Ken Starr created for himself by being open and transparent in his investigation of the Clintons.
We know with 100% certainty Sessions directed Huber to investigate Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation, What federal law is in place that requires the DOJ to comply with FOIA requests to divulge information about ongoing investigations that if they were to comply with would put the investigation at risk? That doesn’t make any sense to me.
There are 9 exemptions to FOIA requests. I’m fairly certain #7 is what applies is this case.
JimNorCal, UNPOSSIBLE. You see GET ME MY FUCKING DRINK CORTEZ would not sell childrens books.
All of the children are going to be dead before puberty.
And Capitalism is evil.
Last page trick.
Go to second page of thread.
Click on the /2/ TWO and delete.
Insert page number you'd like 356 posts equals page 4.
Hit enter.
VOILA.
TomR:
Please provide the absolute proof that Huber was charged by Sessions to investigate Uranium 1 and the Clinton Foundation. Please do not submit some article or opinion piece or tweet or blog entry.
The actual order signed by Sessions is acceptable.
Otherwise I call hearsay or cya mode.
If Clinton Foundation has been investigated ,have they gone to the office and trashed the place looking for evidence?
Or was there a delay so that everything of value has been shredded or bleachbitted or smashed with a hammer? Sessions has had 2 years.
Where are the indictments for Uranium 1 or have we been handed a load of bs about pretend progress?
GUS, in the old days you could just replace the /2/ with something like /999/ and it would bring you right there. Now you get the main page if you go past the actual last page by number, so the old technique of someone sticking in a handy last page link near the top of the first page is no longer possible.
I care about permanent DST. Because I HATE DST. It's light til 10:30 in northern Michigan in June and July. I never see the stars. This changing is soooo hard to adjust to! Worse than traveling--must be the sunset or something,
Just STOP THE INSANITY! Leave the damn clocks alone!
Once again--The Government sticking its nose into something better left alone. ;-)
When President Trump took office, he inherited a broken, unaccountable global trade system that shut out American workers and manufacturers, costing the U.S. millions of jobs.
You can go to the second page, delete the 2 and guess what the last page is---and put that number in . Or guess and subtract one, so you don't get sent back to page one if you guess wrong.
I could swear that my alarm clock/weather station has always adjusted to the time change automatically, but this morning I had to set it myself. Was the switch to DST on a different day this year than previously scheduled?
JiB, please post about your bagel results. That recipe and the pics with it were the first time I've been tempted to do any "keto" or "paleo" baking. Those bagels looked yummy.
Maryrose, Donald Trump's TERM is over half over.
A good portion of the FBI SEVENTH FLOOR is gone.
Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Ohr, Page, Baker, Loretta Lynch, Lois Lerner, Rodham, Abedin are all still walking free and WEALTHY.
OVER HALF OF HIS TERM.
There is either a MAD BOMB COMING (mutually assured destruction) or Nothing is coming.
Simply put. At this PACE, nothing will ever happen unless another person like TRUMP or TRUMP himself wins in 2020 and 2024.
Colonel Cut and paste has no clue what he is pasting about. Watch him invoke RG again.
The clock has been ticking since mid-December 2016.
I have yeast arriving on Wednesday. I'll try both bagel recipes and the pizza crust. It's been longer than I can remember the last time I bought yeast.
As many of you know, I spend a lot of time, on the WI/UP border. Near Iron River MI. I LOVE IT.
I'd rather it be light in the AM, so as to get on the water really early. SHORE LUNCH, nap, a few beers, fire pit,......REPEAT AS NECESSARY.
I didn't see anything in the examples given for exception 7 that would apply for saying that an investigation was ordered. And using that loon drawandstrike to bolster your argument is like going to an insane asylum to find the grand unified theory.
Both you and RG obdurately refuse to admit any fallibility in judging Jeff Sessions against all available evidence. I readily admitted that Bill Kristol, whom I previously thought highly of, was a liar and a bum. When DJT makes fun of Sessions at CPAC, that's pretty clear evidence to me that it's game over for defending him.
Does cutting and pasting do your thinking for you??
Gus,
What is it about quoting the comments of other posters that triggers you to try and insult me for doing that?
BTW after this revelation are you going to double down on your insistence that Huber isn’t investigating the Clintons/U1? I imagine of all posters here that news is hitting you the hardest.
Please provide the absolute proof that Huber was charged by Sessions to investigate Uranium 1 and the Clinton Foundation.
That was linked here yesterday, I believe by Tom R himself: a signed letter from Sessions that Whitaker emailed to Huber. What it didn't show was any instruction to investigate FBI and DoJ crimes related to the 2016 election, which if I'm not mistaken Sessions said he'd asked Huber to investigate.
The Uranium One deal was in 2010. The Federal Statute of Limitations is 5 years. What do you expect Huber to do with that? (Hint, he has a nice filing cabinet for the memo stating, Statute expired, no further action).
I couldn't find the Sessions quote about Huber, but we've seen no evidence that Huber is investigating anything related to FBI and DoJ crimes associated with the 2016 election. Not one person of interest has ever even claimed to have been interviewed by Huber or testified before a GJ.
Ext:
Thank you .
I didn’t see that.
No one has the guts to investigate the Clintons or Hillary and 2016 because they fear the blowback from the media and physical attacks against them from deranged Hillary supporters.
These crazy broads are still going after Bernie today for cripes sake.TomR:
I am willing to bet that Gus and I are right about this.
Who are these mysterious players we have to be all secretive about.
Chelsea, Hillary Bill and some guy named Band.
If serious about it, put them all on notice.
Confiscate their passports and like McCabe make an official announcement stating we believe there was pay to play and quid pro quo between the Clintons and foreign governments and their foundation.
Hillary violated her oath of office as Secretary of State.
Let her butt boy Kendall get her fat arse out of the fire.
“It's light til 10:30 in northern Michigan in June and July. I never see the stars.”
As I point out every year, the DST haters are mainly from the western parts of the time zone like Michigan, Indiana, Ohio. Those of us in the NE like it on balance, because otherwise it gets light at 4:30 in the morning in June, and dark at 7:30.
I wouldn’t object to eliminating DST and carving out a new time zone for us, essentially year round DST. But it would be a bit dark in December for kids going to school.
Does it really matter, except from a historical perspective, how we judge Jeff Sessions? Obviously DJT had his hands full the first two years of his Presidency and couldn't address all of the issues. A lot of the other original cabinet members turned out to be duds, and when they were replaced, in some instances, things got better. Yes, I would love to see Obama/HRC/Ohr/Strzok/Clapper/Brennan et al in jail. It hasn't happened yet, and may never happen, and there will be eons to figure out whom to blame. What is the point of litigating it here and now in this forum?
I guess 4-D involves fake investigations that cannot be prosecuted due to the statute or statutes of limitation.
Not to worry, all the other crimes that haven't run the statute are being prosecuted.
Right Tom?
CH:
TomR will not answer my question if he still believes the original 4Dnow 3D because Sessions is gone is still in play.
I guess he wants that premise to slip down the memory hole.
Who else is being investigated besides Comey and McCabe?
Who says Comey or McCabe are being investigated?
Horowitz was said to be working on the FISA abuse question probably a year ago. Rosenstein even stated that in his congressional testimony, saying that he didn't think he'd acted improperly in signing the Page FISA extension but would abide by the IG's assessment if he had.
I don't remember anyone claiming that Horowitz was investigating anything else of note.
After all this time, it's almost impossible not to suspect that the whole thing is being buried.
Peter:
Yes but in the spring as kids we could stay out until after 9:00 playing dodgeball, baseball(little league games) softball jump rope, all kinds of fun activities.
My best childhood memories were playing in the street after dinner!
Good Times!

It was actually Clarice who linked the Daily Beast article. My link to a Brian Cates tweet thread also had the Sessions memos embedded in it. Everyone also needs to read this article as a refresher:
On March 29, 2018 Sessions responded to Goodlatte and Gowdy explaining why he wasn't appointing a second Special Counsel. Sessions pointed out back then that Huber was going to be the US Attorney who would address Goodlatte/Gowdy's concerns. Those concerns are explicitly related to FISA abuse during the 2016 election by the Obama administration. Congress raised a big stink about this in March 2018. We now know "Sleepy Jeff" had already formally tasked Huber to investigate the FISA abuse five months earlier in November 2017.
The motivation for moving DST earlier a few years ago was idiotic. It also got us out of sync with other countries, messed up airline schedules. Supposedly to save electricity. I’m going to blame Obama, though I’m not sure who pushed it.
Ext:
This whole thing being buried is not acceptable to me.
And yes all you wonderful blog people I will hold this administration responsible if it is.
Does it really matter, except from a historical perspective, how we judge Jeff Sessions?
Yes it matters. The DOJ's the biggest snake pit in the swamp and he openly campaigned to head it up and, other than a few early FBI firings, didn't do a thing to clean it up.
It's a very high exposure job, compared to HUD where I'm sure Ben Carson has quietly made improvements, but when you campaign for it you have to accept the consequences.
The DOJ has been a mess ever since Reagan, after which GHWB asked for the resignation of every employee per Levin.
TomR:
That was a year ago!
We need an update on the progress immediately or has the work been suspended because of Mueller, Mueller, Mueller.
We know what they have been tasked to do💕
The question is- have they in fact done it? Still believe in 3D?
It is ok if you don’t want to answer.
I didn't see anything in the examples given for exception 7 that would apply for saying that an investigation was ordered. And using that loon drawandstrike to bolster your argument is like going to an insane asylum to find the grand unified theory.
Did you miss the entire reason for the Ken Starr reference? Why on God's green earth would the Trump DOJ adopt an open and transparent approach and tell the entire world what they were doing to bring the Obama criminal cabal and Clintons to justice? The person you are citing testified she was told there was no investigation into the Clintons. Perhaps Sessions/Rosenstein didn't trust her?
And on Nov. 16, 2018, Senior Counsel in the Office of Information Policy Vanessa Brinkmann, who handles FOIA Requests, said a lawyer in Sessions’ office told her no such letter existed.
Anyone here know who Vanessa Brinkmann is? Based on her Linked In page my guess is she is a Federal civil servant and longtime employee of the DOJ i.e. Swamp creature.
BTW that "loon" Brian Cates is at least respected enough to be a columnist for The Epoch Times, which also employs Jeff Carlson. For those who follow both on Twitter over the past couple of days you would have seen that Jeff Carlson as well as Dawson Fields are endorsing Cates tweets on the subject. Interpret that however you want.
Peter:
It varies from poster to poster how much these should happen prosecutions
matter.
To me , right now they are almost at the top of my list of what is important.
Do you really think Omar and AOC haven’t been watching these last two years and have seen the corruption at the FBI and DOJ flourish?
What message does no consequences send to our millennial congresspeople.
We can do whatever the hell we want, then lie and we will get away with it.
Look how it worked out for the Clintons.
The lasting message:
I am going to get me some of those Benjamins and the publicity that goes with it.
I am now on the last drops of a Passativo from Puglia, someone gave us during an open house. Very rich, very dark, notes of blackberry, coffee, and more nonsense you could fit into a wine lovers book. But it finishes a bottle started weeks ago.
Frederick and Momma are playing the front nine after some work on the range. He sees our teaching pro tomorrow. Top 50 guy in the States. Frederick wants to make the Canterbury golf team. 17 kids trying out for 10 spots. HIs first year of competitive golf. Tells me he has had drives of 230, 235, and 210 so far. But his iron play is meh! For a 15 y.o. that is a pretty good distance for someone who doesn't play much.
Funny thing about him. He was brought up in a house on the 18th green overlooking the ocean and gave golf a bye for other sports like tennis, soccer, and football. Now, he wants to do golf instead of Lacrosse. Go figure. Kids can be fickled. No?
I have asked before :
What the heck is the Epoch Times and how reliable are Brian Cates and Dawson and Jeff Carlson.
Someone other than TomR please answer.
On Monday August 8, 2005 President Bush signed into law a broad energy bill (Energy Policy Act of 2005) that extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks beginning in 2007. The provisions of the bill called for Daylight Saving Time to begin three weeks earlier on the second Sunday in March and end one week later on the first Sunday in November. Previously, Daylight Saving Time started on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October. The provisions took effect on March 11, 2007.
Ken Starr still got Slick impeached despite the dirtball PR campaign waged against him. You need to start ignoring howl at the moon clickbait clowns like drawandstrike and listen to people who know what they're talking about like Clarice.
Peter, NONE of them are in jail or on trial.
MANAFORT had NOTHING TO DO WITH TRUMP. He has spent time in solitary and has been convicted.
I'm not litigating ANYTHING. Nor is the DOJ/FBI.
The underlying reason for the adoption and expansion of daylight saving time as an energy saving strategy is now being questioned, with studies indicating that it might have the opposite effect as once thought.

Once again--The Government sticking its nose into something better left alone. ;-)

I could swear that my alarm clock/weather station has always adjusted to the time change automatically, but this morning I had to set it myself. Was the switch to DST on a different day this year than previously scheduled?

Gus,
What is it about quoting the comments of other posters that triggers you to try and insult me for doing that?
BTW after this revelation are you going to double down on your insistence that Huber isn’t investigating the Clintons/U1? I imagine of all posters here that news is hitting you the hardest.
Posted by: Tom R | March 10, 2019 at 05:23 PM
Please provide the absolute proof that Huber was charged by Sessions to investigate Uranium 1 and the Clinton Foundation.
That was linked here yesterday, I believe by Tom R himself: a signed letter from Sessions that Whitaker emailed to Huber. What it didn't show was any instruction to investigate FBI and DoJ crimes related to the 2016 election, which if I'm not mistaken Sessions said he'd asked Huber to investigate.

Posted by: anonamom | March 10, 2019 at 05:27 PM
The Uranium One deal was in 2010. The Federal Statute of Limitations is 5 years. What do you expect Huber to do with that? (Hint, he has a nice filing cabinet for the memo stating, Statute expired, no further action).
Posted by: henry | March 10, 2019 at 05:29 PM
There are exceptions--if the wrongdoing was unlawfully hidden until sometime within the Statute.
Posted by: clarice | March 10, 2019 at 05:31 PM
I couldn't find the Sessions quote about Huber, but we've seen no evidence that Huber is investigating anything related to FBI and DoJ crimes associated with the 2016 election. Not one person of interest has ever even claimed to have been interviewed by Huber or testified before a GJ.

Posted by: jimmyk | March 10, 2019 at 05:42 PM
Huber May have gotten the memo but according to senators and reps no one has any knowledge of his calling any witnesses or impaneling a grand jury.
Posted by: D | March 10, 2019 at 05:42 PM
Huber could be slow walking the whole process.
Who else is being investigated besides Comey and McCabe?
Posted by: D | March 10, 2019 at 05:43 PM
Does it really matter, except from a historical perspective, how we judge Jeff Sessions? Obviously DJT had his hands full the first two years of his Presidency and couldn't address all of the issues. A lot of the other original cabinet members turned out to be duds, and when they were replaced, in some instances, things got better. Yes, I would love to see Obama/HRC/Ohr/Strzok/Clapper/Brennan et al in jail. It hasn't happened yet, and may never happen, and there will be eons to figure out whom to blame. What is the point of litigating it here and now in this forum?
Posted by: peter | March 10, 2019 at 05:45 PM
I guess 4-D involves fake investigations that cannot be prosecuted due to the statute or statutes of limitation.
Not to worry, all the other crimes that haven't run the statute are being prosecuted.
Right Tom?

Who says Comey or McCabe are being investigated?
Horowitz was said to be working on the FISA abuse question probably a year ago. Rosenstein even stated that in his congressional testimony, saying that he didn't think he'd acted improperly in signing the Page FISA extension but would abide by the IG's assessment if he had.
I don't remember anyone claiming that Horowitz was investigating anything else of note.
After all this time, it's almost impossible not to suspect that the whole thing is being buried.

It was actually Clarice who linked the Daily Beast article. My link to a Brian Cates tweet thread also had the Sessions memos embedded in it. Everyone also needs to read this article as a refresher:
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gowdy-goodlatte-demand-appointment-of-special-counsel-citing-fisa-abuses

Perhaps Sessions/Rosenstein didn't trust her?
https://www.thedailybeast.com/doj-finds-letter-it-said-didnt-exist-ordering-scrutiny-of-uranium-one-hillary-clinton?ref=home

No?

Can’t blame Obama
On Monday August 8, 2005 President Bush signed into law a broad energy bill (Energy Policy Act of 2005) that extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks beginning in 2007. The provisions of the bill called for Daylight Saving Time to begin three weeks earlier on the second Sunday in March and end one week later on the first Sunday in November. Previously, Daylight Saving Time started on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October. The provisions took effect on March 11, 2007.
