The Mueller report, as summarized by AG Barr, is a bit of a downer for The Resistance. The NY Times:
Mueller Finds No Trump-Russia Conspiracy, but Stops Short of Exonerating President on Obstruction
For whatever reason, Mueller punted on the obstruction question. Barr and Rosenstein, reviewing the report [letter], concluded an obstruction charge should not be brought.
The Special Counsel's decision to describe the facts of his obstruction investigation without reaching any legal conclusions leaves it to the Attorney General to determine whether the conduct described in the report constitutes a crime. Over the course of the investigation, the Special Counsel's office engaged in discussions with certain Department officials regarding many of the legal and factual matters at issue in the Special Counsel's obstruction investigation. After reviewing the Special Counsel's final report on these issues; consulting with Department officials, including the Office of Legal Counsel; and applying the principles of federal prosecution that guide our charging decisions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and I have concluded that the evidence developed during the Special Counsel's investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense. Our determination was made without regard to, and is not based on, the constitutional considerations that surround the indictment and criminal prosecution of a sitting president.
Without seeing the report it is hard to guess just how close to the line Team Trump came with obstruction. Barr notes that the absence of an underlying crime makes obstruction problematic and includes this:
In cataloguing the President's actions, many of which took place in public view, the report identifies no actions that, in our judgment, constitute obstructive conduct, had a nexus to a pending or contemplated proceeding, and were done with corrupt intent, each of which, under the Department's principles of federal prosecution guiding charging decisions, would need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to establish an obstruction-of-justice offense.
Former Federal prosecutor Ken White has more, noting that this summary will satisfy no one. As to "no collusion":
But crucially, Mueller reported that his investigation “did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities,” whether expressly or tacitly. To use the popular cable-news vernacular, Mueller did not establish “collusion.” (Never mind that collusion is not a legal term, and that the special counsel’s mission was to investigate “links and/or coordination” with the Russians.)
Trump’s triumphant supporters notwithstanding, we don’t yet know what that means. When prosecutors say that an investigation “did not establish” something, that doesn’t mean that they concluded it didn’t happen, or even that they don’t believe it happened. It means that the investigation didn’t produce enough information to prove that it happened. Without seeing Mueller’s full report, we don’t know whether this is a firm conclusion about lack of coordination or a frank admission of insufficient evidence. The difference is meaningful, both as a matter of history and because it might determine how much further Democrats in Congress are willing to push committee investigations of the matter.
Obstruction also remains hazy.
Still, a tough day for The Resistance. If they were capable of disciplince and maturity the Democratic leadership would urge a pivot to the 2020 election and focus on ousting Trump the old-fashioned way - offer a positive agenda that wins the support of the American public and have the guy voted out. Pelosi would favor that but then again, she was dismissive of the Green New Deal.

In the previous thread, I'm afraid I misattributed the line from Tom Bowler's 7:43pm post ("the absence of such evidence bears upon the President's intent with respect to obstruction.") as being from Mueller. It was from Atty. General Barre. I still think that it's a fairly clear exoneration: if there was no collusion with Russia, then the President no motive to obstruct the investigation.
Posted by: JM Hanes | March 24, 2019 at 11:15 PM
Beasts, email me when you have time.
The underlying crime was supposed to be COLLUSION with TEH RUSSIANS. Collusion is not in the FEDERAL STATUTES. Collusion to do WHAT??? Let your imagination run wild. RODHAM and BILLY THE RAPIST did. Trump said.......RUSSIA IF YOU ARE LISTENING..........
The ability of the CLINTONS and their paid CRIME STAFF, to create plausible LIES is a full time job.
The MEDIA ran with it. The PISS DOSSIER that RODHAM PAID $10 MILLION FOR, was given to BUZZFEED, it was used as BAIT for JOHN McSlime, and he bit. NO ONE. NO ONE, with an iq over 100, would be suckered by the PISS DOSSIER. Yet, the FBI and DOJ got 4 FISA WARRANTS using that CRAP as evidence, after planting that evidence with NEWS outlets as backup.
THE FBI and DOJ KNEW IT WAS BULLSHIT. That is where the new "INVESTIGATION SHOULD BEGIN". Begin with the 4 peeps that signed off on the FISA APPS, squeeze them, separate them and get different stories, and RIP DOWN THE FBI.

Iggy from the last thread:
Does that mean prosecutors who don't find any evidence against a murder suspect are working with him if they admit they have no evidence?
You must have a Rip Van Winklesque beard cuz you haven't let Occam out of the medicine cabinet for about two years.
I like invoking Occam's Razor but IMO it doesn't apply here. IMO the Art of War by Sun Tzu and The Prince by Machiavelli are the best examples to describe what is going on with Spygate and the Mueller SC. You can throw in a Robert Ludlum novel as well to cover all the plot twists.
From the outset I have been taking the stance that Mueller was working with Trump to defeat the Deep State/Swamp. Over the past two years I have documented several reasons why all based on my connecting of the dots as I interpreted them.
Those who have criticized me the most for taking that stance took the position that Mueller was himself a corrupt member of the Deep State/Swamp and that he was trying to destroy Trump. As Jimmyk correctly pointed out in the last thread, that position (taken mostly by Ledge dwellers) has been completely refuted. If Mueller is a Black Hat he sure does suck badly at it thanks to his exoneration of Trump and increasing Trump's chances of getting re-elected into landslide territory.
For those unwilling to now consider the possibility that I (and RG) have been correct all along lets cover all your new possible explanations for what happened.
Lets call the first possibility the Rule of Law option. Its possible that I am just as wrong about Mueller as all the Ledge dwellers were. Mueller was not working with Trump nor was he trying to destroy him. There is the possibility the SC investigation was an impartial, unbiased, objective investigation following the rule of law to discover any evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia. Everything Mueller did was based on the facts and evidence his team uncovered. Along the way they uncovered evidence of crimes unrelated to Russian collusion and those criminals were held accountable for their crimes. Raise your hand if you now believe this explains Mueller's actions.
A second possibility is that Mueller is indeed a Deep State/Swamp creature but he realized Trump was innocent of the collusion accusations and that he would never be able to prove it with factual evidence. In this case Mueller just bent the knee to Trump and admitted defeat. Of course the problem with this possibility is that there is no evidence to back it up other than the assumptions, speculation and confirmation bias of those who believe this is the adopt this possibility.
If anyone else has some other legit possibilities to explain what happened let me know. I'm sticking with what I said earlier. Since the original position on Mueller of the Ledge dwellers has been completely refuted, that moves the needle in the direction towards my position. We won't know for certain who is correct until all the facts come out and the indictments start flowing. My guess is the floodgates are about to open.
I'll address how I think Mueller helped Trump "drain the Swamp" tomorrow.

Maybe Mueller wanted to frame Trump.
He got his secretive orders from Rosenstein.
He hired rabid, Hillary-donating lawyers.
He consistently ignored Dem smoking guns and only went after Trumpsters.
He's persistent but not very smart (cf. the anthrax investigation)
He and his team did what they could but failed.
None of his "small fish" provided a path to Trump.
Seems just as convincing.

So MUELLER the white hat working with TRUMP, does his investigation, and it takes him to MANAFORT and COHEN. 2 sleazy bit players. One a very very very short term CAMPAIGN advisor to DJT, the other, DJT'S lawyer for PERSONAL MATTERS. Mueller found those 2 useful in this RUSSIA PROBE. He did everything in his power to FLIP them for JUICY TIDBITS that could be indictable.

I'm not sure IQ tests measure absolute mental capacity, only parts of it.

A real black hat with prosecutorial immunity would not have shut it down, with or without evidence, even if he knew he couldn't bring a plausible indictment.

I'll bet you a six pack beer that if we ever find out the truth, the reason the Mueller SC took so long is because Manafort refused to cooperate and testify against Tony Podesta. That's a conclusion that the sentencing memo supports. Whether Manafort ever eventually testified against Podesta remains to be seen but my guess is he didn't.

Well, that was fun narciso! They're really struggling to keep hope alive. They should have watched the Dersh video before coming onstage. Sweet dreams indeed.

Whose moral character do you think I have impugned?
Posted by: Tom R | March 25, 2019 at 01:56 AM
So going after MANAFORT and COHEN was part of MUELLERS task.
Going after a real connection, and the exact reason that this witch hunt ever existed, was out of bounds???
Posted by: GUS | March 25, 2019 at 01:57 AM
Wow. So Mueller had to stay within the lines. Yet he went after Manafort, because Manafort would not turn TURTLE on Podesta????? What did either of them have to do with RUSSIAN COLLUSION?
wow.

Hi jimnj:
I remember taking an IQ test in the 6th grade, which came in lower than the school expected. So they tested me again a week or so later, and I came out where they thought I should be. Bad hair day the first time around I guess, but it was a pretty big spread. Who knows?

TomR:
You could start by not questioning people's honesty and just go from there.
And that's it for me.

Goodnight JMH.

Question:
Now that the report is out, should Trump hire Lin Wood to go after any Political/Celeb/Mediots who continue to insist that he did what the report says he didn't do? I hear them stating it as fact not opinion so as to continue to sway other's views and with the report's findings rendering their continued ravings as a reckless disregard for the truth ISTM that they are on pretty thin legal ice.
I know Trump is a public figure, but at some point, a public figure should have the right to protection from intentional slander.

Keep in mind while reading this letter, there are 20+ of these employees out there looking for a new job.
LETTER TO MY BOSS
I have enjoyed working here these past several years.
You have paid me very well and given me benefits beyond belief. I have 3-4 months off per year, and a pension plan that will pay my salary til the day I die, and then pay my estate one year salary death bonus, and then continue to pay my spouse my salary (with increases) until he (or she) dies, and a health plan that most people can only dream of having -- no deductible whatsoever.
Despite this, I plan to take the next 12-18 months to find a new position.
During this time I will show up for work when it is convenient for me. In addition, I fully expect to draw my full salary and all the other perks associated with my current job.
Oh yes, if my search for this new job proves fruitless, I will be coming back with no loss in pay or status.
Before you say anything, remember that you have no choice in this matter. I can, and I will do this.
Sincerely,
Every Senator or Congressman running for re-election.

Stephanie, the FULL COMMIE LEFT, including the MFM, have been emboldened to NOT CARE, about TRUTH, ETHICS, JOURNALISTIC PRINCIPLES of OBJECTIVITY etc.
There are no INFLUENCES in their EDUCATION, COLLEGE EDUCATION, nor their CAREER ETHIC, thas has been in any way REASONED, RATIONAL, BALANCED nor OBJECTIVE.
It's a LIBTARD BALLROOM BLITZ.
THE FULL COMMIE does not fear REPERCUSSIONS for their HATE and BIAS. They are not arriving at reasoned opinions. They are the PRODUCT of their schooling, propaganda, and miseducation.
TRY DEBATING ONE OF THEM ON THE CLIMATE CHANGE EMERGENCY.

Steph. Rudimentary basic retirement pension STARTS after 5 years of SERVICE in CONGRESS/SENATE.
2 and a half terms for BETOFF O'Dork, AND 5/6th of one term for SPARTACUS NJ or KAMALA-TOE CALI. Many many many many PUBLIC EMPLOYEES are eligible for multiple PENSIONS.
I have an intern, whose Mom is a retired COP. YOUNGER THAN ME. His DAD, is a retired FIRE FIGHTER, also younger than me.
BOTH Mom and DAD, are now CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES of their former POLICE and FIRE jobs.
My intern has insurance thru them at 24. He did not UNDERSTAND that I had ZERO BENEFITS at ALL, as I am an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR for our firm.

JMHanes,
That's the funny thing about IQ tests. It's supposed to measure your innate intelligence, but people with knowledge of your abilities are just as good a predictor. Performance and "innate" intelligence do seem to be correlated.
Yet I'm not aware of a "common sense" test.
When I was much younger I was intrigued with biorhythm charting as a performance tool. I don't pay much attention io it now. It dig however, in hind sight, show a "triple critical" day on the day that I had a car accident on a very snowy, icy day at age twenty.
https://www.biorhythmonline.com/
https://www.biorhythm-calculator.net/
Two calculators above, try them, you might find the idea intriguing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biorhythm
Wiki takes a dim view of biorhythms which is probably correct and, yet somehow unconvincing.
While Wiki is correct that people believe that there are highs and lows to performance due to biorhythm cycles it negates the central point that the day when you hit the mid-line is considered a critical day when you are subject to large errors of judgement.
It may be no better than Astrology, but having an accident on a "triple critical" day all those years ago makes me wonder at least a little.
Everybody else, give it a try and see what you think of it all. Speculating on this as about as useful as speculating on what's next in the Trump saga.

2 weeks ago Democrats voted unanimously to protect Mueller. Today they want to drag him in under oath and beat him up!

Jim nj. IQ tests ostensibly test the POTENTIAL intelligence on an individual on several metrics.
As we ALL KNOW, this is RACIST.
I use CASH CAB as my METRIC.

Q: What do spring and the end of the Mueller investigation have in common?
A: Snowflakes melting all over the place! 🤣

I do not.
