Jack, I think your Hollywood Squares suggestion is a good one. Bernie is obviously Charlie Weaver; Kamala is Rosemarie; but who is Paul Lynde? Here's the man at his best:
Q: Paul, why do Hellâs Angels wear leather?
A: Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.
And another:
Q: Who stays pregnant for a longer period of time, your wife or your elephant?
A: Paul Lynde: Who told you about my elephant?
Loved the boiled artichoke guess better than the real thing!
Mystery #1:
Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Dong Son culture, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A large cast-bronze bell of a sturdy construction. The orb-shaped bell has a large slit along the bottom meant to project sound when produced with its clapper, a pair of lateral trifurcated suspension loops, a cylindrical suspension tube on top, and several petite spiralized appliques. Atop the decorative spirals rests a stylized bull's head complete with abstract eyes and enormous horns. The original clapper still resides within the bell, though centuries of earthen deposits and oxidation have fused it to the inside of the bell. This bell would likely have been used for ceremonial purposes, though the original intent of this object is unknown. Size: 4" W x 3.875" H.
Mysteries #2 & 3 to come. Just curious to see if Captain Hate will recognize the second.
Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Iron Age II, ca. late 8th to early 7th century BCE. A tall terracotta beer strainer used to separate solid ingredients from the liquid inside of a larger vessel. This sieve would have been first placed inside a vessel, stuffed with fermentable material, and covered with water and other liquids before sealing. Once the beer had been prepared or was to be moved to another vessel, the sieve would be removed and pressed to extract any remaining liquids. Sieve examples like this may have been used in bakeries as well since both breweries and bakeries were typically housed under one roof. Size: 4.875" W x 11.375" H .
Just a lucky guess. I have a clay pot that looks very similar to that which I bought at the now defunct Smith & Hawken garden store. I grow herbs in it.

Last night we went to a meeting to discuss whether we would help our pal, Glen Morgan, one of the two gadflies who have been very successful at poking corrupt Washington State deep state Demorats with a sharp stick on countless occasions.
This guy (more than Tim Eyeman, who is focused on legislation that keeps beating back the perpetual creep of taxation the Dims keep pushing) just goes out and launches lawsuits against every conceivable dipthong scamming the taxpayers and/or pumping cash around the swamp.
He has filed 433 campaign finance complaints against the proggies and won nearly every one. A really weird one blew back in his face. Turns out there is a batshit crazy cult leader, JZ Knight, who has been playing with the hoi polloi and had reached the point of peddling her scam to some rich furreners for more than $50MM. He quashed that and then unintentionally hit a couple of the internal wackos with robo calls during the last election. They sued him for violating a consumer protection law regarding cell phone calls, but this was exclusively election free speech, so the consumer law doesn't apply.
Big deal. There was a $6500 fine. Except the wackos found a wacko judge (did I mention this is in WA State?) named Murphy who was quite happy to invoke this bogus overlap of consumer and election law and allowed the cult lawyers to fabricate $120K of fees to dump on Glen with a 10 day put up or shut up deadline! And Glen is scrambling to cover that. (This guy lives in a doublewide on a few acres, so isn't exactly dripping in cash.)

BREAKING: White House aides are concerned fmr Pence Chief of Staff Joshua Pitcock may have left behind FBI listening devices after learning his wife worked for Peter Strzok
There are so many fissures between competing victim groups in the donk base that have been screaming for a non not who we are eunuch to sledgehammer a wedge into them.
Ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenicia, ca. 8th to 7th century BCE. A bronze musical instrument called a chalcophone, composed of two parallel bars - each with its terminals twisted into tight spirals - linked by eleven bronze wires with thick springs on them. To be played, someone would shake or pluck at the springs. Fascinatingly, chalcophones are found almost exclusively in Phoenicia and in South Italian Iron Age burials, suggesting a link between east and west. Similar, but not identical instruments also have been found in Ur.
Chalcophones are often found alongside a type of instrument called "sonagliera," similar to chimes. In the South Italic contexts, they are associated with the graves of adult women. This is also true in Assyrian contexts, and the later Apulian sistrum - a similar instrument, depicted on red-figure vases is also associated with women, and, specifically, with religious contexts. It seems likely that this instrument would have belonged to a high status woman, perhaps a priestess, musician, or dancer at religious ceremonies. . Size: 5.1" W x 6.9" H
Looks a bit like a mini xylophone;in the first example, you're seeing the instrument's 'innards' without the spring covers.
That 10:53 piece about Pence is so full of unnamed sources ("It has been reported that...," and "according to several Republicans familiar with the situation") and innuendo, it's a parody of itself. And one of the named sources is Jane Mayer, so you can assume it's a lie.
Oh, and I forgot to add: The Atlantic piece it's based on goes right into the Charlottesville hoax that we've been discussing:
In Pence, Trump has found an obedient deputy whose willingness to suffer indignity and humiliation at the pleasure of the president appears boundless. When Trump comes under fire for describing white nationalists as âvery fine people,â Pence is there to assure the world that he is actually a man of great decency. When Trump needs someone to fly across the country to an NFL game so he can walk out in protest of national-anthem kneelers, Pence heads for Air Force Two.
Glad you enjoyed it, clarice. I stopped trying to keep track of all the players in spygate, so I have to hang around and wait till someone explains who is doing what to whom. :-)

Last month, she discovered that she had become pregnant nonetheless. She decided to obtain an abortion as she didnât feel that she was in a âposition to care for a child at this point in [her] life,â and scheduled an appointment.
However, when her Uber driver arrived on March 21, he âseemed immediately uncomfortable.â Minutes into the ride, he asked if she was going to Planned Parenthood. She told him no, that it was just a doctorâs appointment.

OK, here is the mint julep recipe I learned from some old Kentucky hands. In a julep cup or a highball glass put 3 to 4 fresh mint leaves, a teaspoon of sugar and 2 teaspoons of water. Muddle the ingredients with a spoon. Insert a straw. Fill the glass with crushed ice and then bourbon. Top with sprigs of fresh mint. Find yourself a front porch and comfy rocking chair and enjoy. By the way, there is nothing wrong with using Wild Turkey.
I still have my Derby glass from the 1973 race where I was able to see Secretariat's ears win. I was in the infield with about 100k other revelers.

Sorry about your tooth, Neo. There's no pain like dental pain.
mike in houston, wow - I've never heard the Transy book heist story. Not surprised about the lack of security at the library, though.

If you have tooth pain and cannot see a dentist immediately go to the drugstore and get some oil of cloves..dab it on the enamel of the tooth--NOT THE GUM-- AND IT WILL RELIEVE THE PAIN--AN OLD TRIED AND TRUE REMEDY.

Clarice,
If you are still around, a couple of locals that knew Herb pretty well think he might have been taken out by a hit. Everyone knew his morning routine and that hill is fairly isolated.

Narc, if that was re Herb, he had a bicycle accident several months ago near his home. Some locals are suspicious it might have been a hit. Heâs still unconscious, but they never determined whether he might have had a stroke.
Now that I think about it, didnât his boss, Casey have a strange boating accident that did him in?

ITHACA, N.Y. â An Uber driver allegedly refused last month to take a college student to have her unborn child murdered after realizing that the address she had provided was that of an abortion facility.
The unidentified student posted about the matter on Reddit last month and also spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle last week. The woman is a 20-year-old sophomore at Cornell University and had recently been on Plan B to prevent pregnancy.

I heard it wasn't too long ago that you couldn't buy Pepsi or Coke in India. They made their own cola drinks. I don't know that India is better off opening their markets to our junk food.

I just heard about something called Propertarianism today. One of the tenets is that if a politician lies about something he can be sued. I want to say the way the guy phrased it is that your word is under warranty. Just another thing that only grows out of the barrel of a gun.

The Mysterious Hotel at the Center of Spygate
This is a conspiracy thread which includes mentions of Mifsud, Papadoupolis,Pritzer, Romney, Machiavelli, and Lady Gaga, plus others.
Lots of neat history and architectural pictures and adds nothing to factual information, but a fascinating read.

MM, I am curious---just how do come across those truly weird and "out there" things like your 5:59?
Agree--it is entertaining, and even (for me) enlightening---but who brings those to your attention???
Posted by: anonamom | April 26, 2019 at 06:22 AM
anonamom,
It was retweeted by a sort of "out there" person I followed on Twitter a couple of days ago because they were following the Q drops.
I run across all sorts of weirdo things that way, and usually I skim them and move on, but that one had such fabulous pictures and strange historical connections I thought some of the people here would enjoy reading it.
I mean, who could resist both Dracula and Mitt Romney in the same conspiracy? LOL!
