The WaPo puzzles over the popularity of Mayor Pete, now third in polling behind Biden and Sanders; Ann Althouse summarizes.
My take: Democrats always pine for the next JFK. They want a candidate who is young, charismatic, smart, and unburdened by a legacy of policy decisions that might antagonize one faction or another. The attractive blank slate! Past players in this role include Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, Howard Dean, John Edwards, and of course Barack Obama. (John Kerry sort of fits the template as well. As the war hero who turned war against the war and did nothing thereafter, Kerry induced a 60's flashback that made everyone else feel young again, so he had that going for him.)
What I find more interesting is whether Mayor Pete and Beto can survive each other's presence in the same lane.

And why the hell aren't people talking about what a shitty mayor he is.
No one should be allowed to run for President if they haven't spent at least 20 years in the private sector! (Actually no elected official should be allowed to run for president because they are all ridiculously stupid and corrupt!)

Well, Pete has spent his time LYING about Mike Pence, who was nothing but cordial to Buttigieg when Pence was governor of Indiana and treated him with respect, calling him a Pharisee and insisting that he hates gays.
Meanwhile, O'Rourke released his taxes, with a very small amount of charitable donations out of over $300,000 in income (around $1200, I think) and today said that his "public service" (by which he means being an elected official) is the same as charitable giving.
What a moro!

Not so much hiding it, his vile comments about VP Pence (among other things) make that pretty clear. But he's got the MSM to deflect and spin and defend him at every turn, so he doesn't need to worry about it. For now, anyway.

Standard Progressive/SJW BS. I posted this to point out another example of Twitter algorithms that elevate Krassenstein Progressive propaganda to the first reply.
What can be done to combat the blatant partisnanship of Twitter and other social media giants without violating the conservative principal of opposition to Federal regulation? Effective usage of social media is the future of political campaigning so something has to be done to end the stranglehold the Progressive tech giants have on social media.

Good afternoon:(
Not so far for me. Nothing on the beagles. Spent many an hour last night driving around the community. Not a sign. They have always come home when hungry and/or tired. Not this time.
Animal control is working on it. All the security gates are notified. Posted on "Next Door". All Vets notified (the dogs have chips). One thing I did was go and check the invisible fence controller and sure enough, there is a break in the line. That is how they got out with their invisible fence collars on. Must have been the landscaper who cut it. Usually is the way it happens.
Electrician coming today to try to find the break and fix it.
My little guy Bandit who came home within a few hours is devastated and is mopping around when not with me walking the beach and the bramble trying to find the other two. I am trying to remain positive but with each hour of not hearing anything, I am getting more negative. Snakes, 'gators, even road kill. But I have driven all the main roads for miles and found nothing.
So prayers please for Lady and Jazz.

Well, I have an old desktop PC that just died, and as I had a bit of time on my hands I took it apart to remove the hard drive, backed up the data I needed with a USB adapter, then pulled out the power supply (which I suspect is what died), ordered a replacement off of eBay, and plan to reassemble the whole thing. It is a 3 burner version which is what the last one was, and I never had need for anything bigger.

So Beatoff-toe is a skinflint when it comes to charity per his tax return. Insty makes the sensible claim that not all acts of charity show up on one’s tax forms and says he tends to overtip or tip people who don’t usually get tips, like maids.
Fair point.

Hope somebody takes her out in the primaries.
She can go back to bartending, and if that doesn't work out, she could probably make it as a pole dancer.

Beasts,
Have you seen this? She's an actress playing a role, put in office by the Justice Democrats.

Good news. Got Lady back. She was in an area where the only way to get there was either swim across the ICW or walk over the toll bridge separating our community from the local city or she was picked up and then dropped off there. A young college girl found her wet and tired. Now we have high hopes to find Jazz, the big Beagle.

JiB,
Whew! Thank goodness you found her.
I once had a Shiba Inu named Nikita. Escaped our fenced yard on a very cold New Year's Eve due to fireworks going off, which always scared her. Didn't see her for almost 3 days. Was worried sick over her because she was almost 15, and had been on heart meds for almost 2 years. Figured we'd never see her again.
But luckily got a call that someone had found her, curled up under a bush, at a house in the subdivision next to ours.
Was very thankful to get her back.

If AOC is the product of a 10K potential individual talent search, you can just imagine what the other 9.9K is like.
