The WaPo puzzles over the popularity of Mayor Pete, now third in polling behind Biden and Sanders; Ann Althouse summarizes.

My take: Democrats always pine for the next JFK. They want a candidate who is young, charismatic, smart, and unburdened by a legacy of policy decisions that might antagonize one faction or another. The attractive blank slate! Past players in this role include Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, Howard Dean, John Edwards, and of course Barack Obama. (John Kerry sort of fits the template as well. As the war hero who turned war against the war and did nothing thereafter, Kerry induced a 60's flashback that made everyone else feel young again, so he had that going for him.)

What I find more interesting is whether Mayor Pete and Beto can survive each other's presence in the same lane.

When my parents moved into the Methodist Home I took their Australian shepherd, Sheila. HER trigger was an approaching thunderstorm. Even before you heard thunder she would go nuts, and if she was out in the backyard she would climb the fence (chain link) and bolt for the bridge over the creek about a quarter mile away. She wold hide under there until the storm passed and come home wet and muddy.

She was as good as weather radar in predicting a storm.

JiB, great news on the beagles. My brother's invisible fence is placed at an obvious physical boundry where the colors and the texture of the ground changes. He did exactly what Extraneous suggested and turned it up to 11 to really give the dogs a jolt. After a few times the dogs never went near that boundry again.

I didn't realize that Jack Posobiec had been in the intelligence community. I listened to a video today where he and Stefan Molyneux discussed the Steele Dossier and related matters.

One thing I took away, if I have it right, is that the separate sections of the Steele Dossier were serialized if you will. JP gave the example of Dickens releasing one chapter of his book at a time in a newspaper.

These bits and pieces were released to government intelligence agencies who spread the false information out into their networks. It's like the FISA warrant BS where they leaked a false story and took that to the judge as supporting their narrative.
