Ross Douthat is excellent on the immigration box into which Trump has placed himself:
Across the decade that preceded Donald Trump’s election, American politicians of both parties consistently tried to pass big, sweeping immigration bills that would legalize most of the country’s illegal population and increase immigration overall. These bills failed because of populist opposition, at first bipartisan (the resistance of a certain socialist senator from Vermont helped doom the 2007 effort) but increasingly simply conservative, and over time the conservative opposition developed a well-founded suspicion of Republican elites, whose plans on immigration always seemed to require ignoring their own base.
This sense of betrayal was fertile ground for Trump, who used bigotry and bluster to sell himself to immigration hawks as a Republican who wouldn’t, indeed couldn’t, sell them out.
Do note the reference to Bernie Sanders, who even recently has insisted on the obvious: a generous welfare state can not co-exist with open borders. "Medicare For All" can't mean "All who can show up, legally or otherwise". Not even Mitt Romney's grandkids AND Jeff Bezos can afford that, which is common sense to everyone except ardent progressives. (Even Paul Krugman admitted this in 2006 and again in 2010, but if has risked the wrath of his base since then I've missed it. Those books don't sell themselves!.)
However, Trump's impasse: Public opinion had swung in favor of stricter border control but "The Wall" was not the right tool to keep out asylum seekers. For that Trump would need to negotiate Congressional support to amend current laws, and stricter border control by the Mexican government. However...
For a different president these tasks would be challenging; for Trump, they seem impossible.
Which leaves Trump flailing and Democrats free to point accusing fingers:
The flailing also absolves the Democratic Party, currently torn between radicalism and evasion on immigration, from actually having to propose a coherent alternative to the White House’s approach. If this sort of crisis were happening on President Hillary Clinton’s watch, it would create all kinds of political problems for the Democrats; as it stands, they can point at the man who once boasted of Washington that “I alone can fix it” and say, well, why don’t you?
Oh, my.
All that said, I am still curious to see how Bernie Borders plays out in the primaries.
Addendum to my 3:58
Brennan, Clapper, and Strzok are three of the people I believe are certain to be on Nunes list of people accused of committed perjury during Congressional testimony. Another name expected to be on the list is Comey's. If Comey's name isn't on Nunes list then that raises a huge question of why not? I'm going to wait until Nunes list of names become public before going any further.

Five of the eight referrals focus on people accused of lying to Congress and illegal leaking of classified material.
The other three referrals focus on FISA abuse/lying to the FISA court, a conspiracy to manipulate intelligence, and what Nunes referred to as a global leak.
If Rosenstein is implicated my guess it would likely be as part of the FISA abuse referral.

Regarding the "...link between cities and psychosis"
Oregon Muse has an alternate viewpoint listed on The Morning Rant on Ace:
OregonMuse
"If I could express all of our country's problems into one word, I'd say that word is sh*t. We've got sh*tty schools filling students' heads full of progressive sh*t, and when the sh*theads graduate, they start voting for sh*tbird politicians who implement sh*t policies that turn their cities and states into sh*tty sh*tholes.
And then, after a few years, when their sh*thole cities get so completely filled with sh*t that it flows through the streets, the sh*theads say, 'hey, I can't live here any more, it's a sh*thole.'
So then the sh*theads move to some other part of the country that's not a sh*thole, but then, because they're sh*theads, and not well-versed on the whole cause-and-effect thing, they vote for the same sh*tbirds who implement the same sh*t policies that have turned the places they came from into sh*tholes and their new homes gradually turn into sh*tholes that look just like the old sh*tholes, and they never seem to figure out why. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why our country is turning into sh*t."

One night the 96-year-old draws a bath.
She puts her foot in and pauses.
She yells to the other sisters, 'Was I getting in or out of the bath?'
The 94-year-old yells back, 'I don't know. I'll come up and see.'
She starts up the stairs and pauses 'Was I going up the stairs or down?
The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters, she shakes her head and says, 'I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood...'
She then yells, 'I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door.'

Henry,
Yesterday Barr testified that the Horowitz/Huber investigations would be complete by May/June timeframe. Why would Barr start a new investigation from scratch when the OIG that reports to him is about to finish an investigation on the same subject matter? That makes zero sense.
IMO the new team Barr is referring to is going to be reviewing the evidence from the Horowitz OIG report as well as the criminal referrals coming from Nunes and then making a decision on who all gets indicted.

Barr would start anew if he suspected the current Horowitz IG thing was contaminated by conflict of interest. RR involvement in any fashion is a conflict (he signed a FISA warrant, was in conspirator meetings, etc... the are conflicts regardless of hat color). Thus Barr has to start over to get anything that sticks in court.

You seem to suppose that if Nunes doesn't refer Rosenstein for prosecution, it proves he's not a black hat; as though he couldn't possibly act unethically against Trump without doing anything provably illegal.
(I'm not claiming he's a black hat. Rosenstein is one of the few players in this matter who I don't have a definite opinion about where he stands.)

I think Horowitz will expose Brennan and Clapper and Comey and then it will be up to Barr to decide wether to indict, and I think he may. Also Rice and Powers and perhaps Yates .

And now it's time to call on the FISC to explain their procedures and how this happened.

With Barr's testimony and the specific words he used, I am prepared to wait.
No one yet has been that pointed and specific. Big time lawyers like him do not use words like this without a purpose.

clarice,
What about McCabe, Strzok, and Page?

Unseen1 summarizes the political battlefield as no one in the #MSM has.

Henry @7:57
Jack Posobiec appears to be completely ignorant of the fact Barr confirmed the Horowitz OIG investigation is real and wrapping up in May/June.

Oh, McCabe and Strzok for sure. Don't know about Page--she came clean .

OK, Jack. Because I would need to learn from this exercise, I'm going to pick something I don't know everything about (e.g., no Austen). Given the sci-fic/Gothic interest of the crew, let's read Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It's short, a great piece of writing (a really GREAT piece of writing), and full of interest. All I'd point to going in is to point to the historically-important role of gin (for you, MM) and wine (Beasts, lyle, Jack and others). It's a very male-dominated story--look for the few females (I'm afraid this means looking for a feminized moon, because the women are thin on the ground). Those of you who only know RLS's work through The Muppets' Treasure Island, do be aware that the original not only had no women, it didn't feature Miss Piggy.
Another thing, it's called Strange Case (no "The") because RLS wanted the story to seem like something grabbed from a sensational newspaper, with an appropriate headline.

It occurs to me I should give you a prompt of some sort: (in honor of daddy)--that this story is a response to Darwin is obvious--but what kind of response? Show your work! No grades, or, as at Harvard, only a series of A minuses!
