Narciso79

The zealots were the guerillas of the Jewish state, after 200 years they sought freedom from Rome through physical means, but when challenging a ruthless world power, a recalcitrant province has little chance. This is part of the premise of the star trek mirror universe which may sten from a continuing Roman empire moving into the 20th century, certainly that tale of ghandi va model that turtledive wrote.

Naeciso, yes that headline in The Express was bizarre.

"World War 3: UK CONFRONTS Russia by sending warship to Black Sea
THE UK has deployed a warship to the Black Sea in a move that could risk infuriating Russia, as NATO continues plans to increase military activity in the region."

What were they thinking? This is a routine maneuver. Russia doesn't control the Black Sea, it's considered to be international waters. Russian and Ukrainian navies have unrestricted access to the Sea. Other nations have to apply to Turkey to transit the straits of the Dardanelles. Turkey as a NATO member has little reason to prohibit other NATO navies from access to the Black Sea.

I believe there is a time limit for these sorties into the Black Sea so they have to rotate ships in and out to maintain a presence in support of Ukraine.

The Russians regularly harass US and NATO ships with low fly-bys and other risky tactics. It's a false pretension of superiority over the Sea. If hostilities were to begin the Russian Black Sea Fleet would be gone in a day or two.

Hell, we could "accidentally" shoot down one of the close fly-bys, apologize and get away with it.

jim nj

https://www.breitbart.com/news/sri-lanka-police-chief-had-warned-of-suicide-attack-threat-before-blasts/

I'm puzzling over this as some are calling it an "intelligence failure" that the plot wasn't stopped.

"A foreign intelligence agency has reported that the NTJ (National Thowheeth Jama’ath) is planning to carry out suicide attacks targeting prominent churches as well as the Indian high commission in Colombo,” said the alert."

I'm wondering which agency sounded the alarm. The Sri Lankans took it as a real warning and communicated that down the line.

I presume there was no specific targeting information, but the Sri Lankans raided sites very quickly after the bombings. Made arrests and suffered casualties in some of those raids.

They took the warning seriously. They just couldn't identify the targets quickly enough.

MJW

Tom R, though I missed reading your comment regarding meaning of the Mueller Dossier footnote, we agree on something.

I was greatly annoyed when Chris Wallace brought up the footnote (in his usual snide manner) to Giuliani, and Giuliani accepted Wallace's premise that not only did the footnote suggest congress pursue impeachment, but also that Mueller was saying that they had established that corruption occurred. I often appreciate Giuliani's spirit, and sometimes his arguments, but he often disappoints me.

jim nj

Civil law enforcement combating terrorists just isn't working.

They have too many legal protections under those systems.

Mitch Rapp and Scott Horvath and all the others wouldn't stand for this.

I don't want fictional characters to come to our rescue, but reality just can't seem to escape its' strictures.

We are too lenient, too passive to resolve this radical Islamist problem. And they have apologists who root for them. Like CAIR. And state sponsors like Iran. And money from radical supporters.

We need to treat this like the war it is and recognize that in war we are often justified in taking preemptive attacks against our enemy.

We need to redefine what it is that is sufficient to know before we take action.

I don't want to punish thought crimes, but when they enter a planning stage they become legitimate targets for military action. Not civil action.

Capture them covertly. The Geneva Convention doesn't apply to them. As POWs they don't get a lawyer. Sweat them. Put out the word that Omar is talking. Grab the next guy. Rinse and repeat.

No need to sanction them. Just chopper them into the middle of the Sahara and give them a beer to get by on.

Off to work now.

Clarice, I made the cheese cake yesterday and it looks inviting this morning. When I took it out of the oven it was all pooched up like a mushroom. It settled down to traditional flatness after it cooled.

I also made Lemon Ricotta Cake for like the fourth time. I made lemon cream cheese frosting for it also. All keto friendly.

I'm impressed how little effect the cake has on blood insulin levels.

BREAKING: After IG Horowitz forced Mueller to kick politically biased Trump-hater Strzok off his investigative team, Mueller embedded FBI analysts in his office whose sole purpose was writing summaries of his investigation & reporting findings back to Strzok's C.I. team at FBI HQ

Yet Mueller had FBI agent(s) embedded as permanent liaison to Strzok afterwards?

MissMarple2

I have read that tweet twice and after some initial confusion, it looks to me like Mueller got some FBI guys to work in his office so they could feed info to Strzok.

At first I was concerned they had been embedded in the IG's office, but I don't think Horowitz would fall for that.

Please note that it was the Inspector General who forced Mueller to remove Strzok. Rosenstein (who was supposed to be supervising) didn't do it, and Mueller didn't do it from his own volition.

Darn it, MM. I said that way more than a year ago.

That is the simplest explanation that fits all the observed facts.

Captain Hate

There is no way Mueller is a white hat and pointing out he goes to church, probably an Episcopalian den of heresy, does nothing to ameliorate that.

Another Bob

“somebody here will suggest that that proves Mueller was a white hat in the 4th dimension, and we lesser mortals are just too simplistic to see that”

That somebody’s problem is he’s long past caring about right and wrong. It’s just about the need to be seen as correct, and to be snide with those who disagree.

To me, jury is still out on Sessions, but it’s not looking good.

Buckeye

There is no way Mueller is a white hat and pointing out he goes to church, probably an Episcopalian den of heresy, does nothing to ameliorate that.

That was exactly my thought.

To add to TM's point about no crime, I've heard or read nothing about POTUS's legal right to tell the DoJ to stop any investigation. It would have been a Yuge political mistake, but Trump cooperated instead. Nixon fired Cox, and since the Indep Counsel law expired, he could again, if they weren't both dead.

he legally changed his name from Abdisaid Mohammed to Emmanuel DeShawn Aranda.
por que?

Usually, it's the other way round: European to Muslim names.

Another Bob

MM, if substantial parts of the FBI and DOJ are corrupt, which they undoubtedly are, why would you assume IGs aren’t also corrupt or at least corruptible?

Horowitz was the great savior, but ended up mostly a bust. Huber was been nowhere to be found.

MM @ 6:07

The Mueller SC investigation was a counter intel investigation (CI). When Strzok, a CI agent, was fired doesn’t it make sense to replace him with a different CI agent? BTW Priestap was in charge of the CI division, not Strzok. We already know FARA violations were a significant aspect of the Mueller SC. Just like the 12 criminal referrals passed on to the DOJ, wouldn’t it be proper for Mueller’s team to pass on CI information they discovered that was unrelated to Russian collusion to Priestap’s CI team?

hoyden

A few years ago they were very accommodating when they inadvertently shut off my service and I bitched about it in a branch office, expediting the fix and giving me a couple hundred dollars in credits for their mistake. Tom R

MM @ 8:04

Mueller pointed out in his report his team was passing on CI related information they were collecting to the FBI. It’s not like he was trying to keep it a secret. Paul Sperry is just sensationalizing it to further influence Trump supporters into believing Mueller is a bad guy trying to destroy Trump even after he exonerated him of collusion.

Captain Hate

Tom,

The report itself, particularly the obstruction part, is what I'd expect partisan hacks like Weissmann to come up with. I'm still keeping an open mind on where all this will lead but the highly biased nature of the report's content can't be ignored.

Narciso79

Ironically and this was so obvious to even ernie the troll, none of the big players in the company board were touched.

Tom R

CH @ 8:06

How do you account for the straight shooter Barr being personal friends with Mueller and their wives teaching a Sunday school class with each another? You would think if Mueller was as evil and corrupt as some people here believe that Barr wouldn’t be personal friends with him.

Buckeye

So let me see if I have this correct.

1) The facts don't support collusion.

2) With the whole world watching, Mueller reports the facts.

3) Therefore Mueller wears a white hat.

Did I miss anything?

Tom R
