Sen. Kamala Harris has a pen and a phone and she's not afraid to shriek into it! The NY Times explains that she won't pin her hopes for gun control on Congress and will rely on executive orders. They include this surprisingly candid assessment (my mockery):
The executive actions would also include more strident regulation of gun manufacturers...
SpelChechnyan is an uncertain ally. Although I guess I should roll the videotape before concluding this was a mistake.
TRUST BUT VERIFY: I actually will be happier when the Times correct this, but meanwhile...

Sorry to say but @foxandfriends is by far the best of the morning political shows on television. It rightfully has BY FAR the highest ratings, not even close. Morning Psycho (Joe), who helped get me elected in 2016 by having me on (free) all the time, has nosedived, too Angry...
....Dumb and Sick. A really bad show with low ratings - and will only get worse. CNN has been a proven and long term ratings and beyond disaster. In fact, it rewarded Chris Cuomo with a now unsuccessful prime time slot, despite his massive failure in the morning. Only on CNN!

KEEP AMERICA GREAT!
Posted by: MissMarple2 | April 23, 2019 at 07:50 AM
In my inbox this morning:
Have you ever noticed that laws that promise to protect the public “actually bolster the corporate bottom line.”
For example, the ongoing and furthering of “The Asbestos Transparency Act” didn’t help people exposed to asbestos. It was written by corporations who wanted to make it harder for victims to recoup money.
The “HOPE Act,” introduced in nine states, was written by a conservative advocacy group to make it more difficult for people to get food stamps.
At the same time, it enriches private contractors by outsourcing the work of verifying people’s eligibility for social-support programs, including Medicaid and SNAP (food stamps).
Those who likely qualify for assistance off of these programs get thrown under the bus to improve profitability for the private contractors.
All under the guise of “Helping People.”
Talk about Orwellian.
These points (along with yesterday’s rant) are only a few things that get my blood boiling. (Can you tell?)
Add in the fact that 2019, The Political Year from Hell, is only in its fourth month and you’ll see how the term crazy may be an understatement.
Oh!
And while I’m ranting, what ever happened to Larry Silverstein? (who famously signed a 99-year lease on the World Trade Center complex in June 2001, two months before the attacks).
Silverstein took out an insurance plan that just happened to cover terrorism.
After 9/11, Silverstein took the insurance company to court, claiming he should be paid double because there were 2 attacks.
He won, and was awarded $4,550,000,000 (He originally claimed $7.1 Billion).
My question is, what happens to guys like this or corporations that write laws like “The Asbestos Act” or The Hope Act?”
Do they just slither under another rock somewhere?
Naahhhh!
Hopefully they’ll be in the spotlight soon when the indictments start to fall…quite possibly before 2019 is over.
The writer dislikes the GOPe as much as he dislikes the Dems.

Yesterday I went out with some of my mom's friends to celebrate her upcoming birthday and sat next to an old friend who is a retired missionary to a majority muslim country in asia. Apparently there was a gap at some point in their obtaining a renewal of their visa and they were sent to sri lanka to a church there. Her tone in discussing the bombings and anger reminded me that they must have believed for decades with being told they might be killed simply for being christian missionaries.
Big contrast to the news last night simply wanting to make it about a place and time as if there was no attendant meaning.

It's interesting to me because these same institutions give presentations now and have for the last five years at least proclaiming that they "want to be majority minority" institutions when that doesn't fit the population or their applying students' demographic. That makes it clear that the criteria then warps the expectations throughout.
I also am not sure when this selection as a junior designation began. Like I said, I found it interesting especially after the treatment of the christakis' couple. https://www.city-journal.org/free-speech-camille-paglia

Melinda 10:18, that article seemed very pro-Tamil.
To me, the theme seemed to be "we waged a very bloody terror war and lost. Now what will you do to ease the pain suffered by our civilians, prisoners and the 'disappeared'?"
I don't know much about Tamil vs Sinhalese.

It's one of those Hatfield McCoy things on steroids, the ltte killed Rajiv gandhi as well as at least one Sri Lanka minister call him mr g, makes the troubles seem like a walk in the park, the ltte were not kerm on muslims either around 1990? That's just what I gleaned from a shallow dip.
