Sen. Kamala Harris has a pen and a phone and she's not afraid to shriek into it! The NY Times explains that she won't pin her hopes for gun control on Congress and will rely on executive orders. They include this surprisingly candid assessment (my mockery):
The executive actions would also include more strident regulation of gun manufacturers...
SpelChechnyan is an uncertain ally. Although I guess I should roll the videotape before concluding this was a mistake.
TRUST BUT VERIFY: I actually will be happier when the Times correct this, but meanwhile...
it was the NYPD that got Weiner's laptop and found the stash. Then they had to shame the FBI office in NYC to fess up about them.
Thanks, OL. Gotta keep these details from the game of telephone.

Frosts me that Hillary is on camera claiming Trump should be indicted once "we get the unredacted report" as if she is the injured party.
The only reason she and the others have the balls to play that part on cameras is that NONE of them are on defense or in legal jeopardy as far as We the People can see. If they were scared sh*tless, attacking Trump with Mueller would not be first on their lists.
Sure I know some think the hammer is now free to fall and will "soon", but been there, seen that.

Not sure, OL, they seem to think the best defense is a good offense, or something. Like when animal is cornered by a predator and turns aggressive. It's predictable: Whatever they are actually guilty of, they accuse Trump of doing. Obstruction of justice? Seriously? From the woman who destroyed e-mails requested by the FBI and bleachbitted her server?
Posted by: jimmyk | April 23, 2019 at 04:05 PM
I think reality in regards to anything related to Spygate is close to 180 degrees opposite of what OL perceives it to be. The meltdown the Democrats are displaying IMO is not a sign of them displaying confidence that they are in no legal danger.

Speaking of Qatar, remember how much coverage the WAPO gave to Jamal Khashoggi’s death? Khashoggi was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood of which Qatar is a major financier. If Qatar gave money to the WAPO or individuals who work for the WAPO to write articles that were pro-Muslim brotherhood, anti-Israeli, pro-Iran/Yemen etc, then that could be a FARA violation on the WAPO or their employees part for being unregistered agents of a foreign power.

One more thing about my brother-in-law, and then I will quit yakking about him. This article is the essence of who he was.
My two nephews both spoke today. Their father was a bad-tempered alcoholic who never paid much attention to them.
Both spoke of how my BIL had mentored them, patiently helping one with math problems and the other talking about how he would good-naturedly pull him out of ditches when he ran off the road in his VW during the winter.
When my parents' health started failing, he was right there to help with driving them to appointments, encouraging my mother with speech therapy after her brain surgery, and generally being their friend no matter what.
Same guy who won that combat Bronze Star. The word is "chivalry" which isn't used much any more.
I am privileged to have known him. Now back to looking for news articles.

Have a question for you real lawyers out there...
Mueller wrote this long meander that is giving The Resistance the story that Trump really committed obstruction when he fired Comey, but presidents are special cases and can only be impeached.
Now it seems to me that if I were to apply that legal reasoning to a similar case, we just watched Mueller commit the crime of obstruction of justice multiple times, quite blatantly. And he's NOT the president. He's not even the special prosecutor any more, since his term has ended.
Can he be indicted for all the things he just spent the last two years doing? Up until this point, prosecutors basically have immunity to prosecution for even the most blatant corruption -- did Mueller just successfully argue that he doesn't? Did he bring this enough in question that we can have the FBI do a no-knock raid at 4:30am and haul him off in his jammies?

Bill Clinton was impeached. The Senate had no INTEREST in convicting him.

One thing I recommend with a pellet smoker is a wireless probe that can monitor the chamber and meat temperatures, set alarms, and let you watch them graphically on your phone. The graphs can be interesting, for example when it comes to the so-called "stall," when the temp doesn't change for a long period before heading up again. (I think this is due to evaporation, but none of the bbq sites get into that.)

Posted by: Jim Eagle | April 23, 2019 at 06:59 PM
I don't usually try the higher temps, Porch, but I'm doubtful that you can get a good sear with a pellet smoker. I go to 350 or so to finish things quicker without over-smoking (the smoke disappears at around 300), but I've never tried searing a steak or something like with gas.
Here's a guy who says he can do it, btw.
Btw, if anyone here has a hankering for the Rec Tec I linked, do get the bottom shelf. Otherwise, the legs aren't stable enough to move it safely after drinking beer, wine or Sangria.

I bought the book after taking a class at the Culinary Institute of America (Hyde Park, NY) and asking the chef/instructor why lemon juice or acid works for certain dishes.
