I assume he already dished whatever he had to Barr.

Certainly would explain why Barr would place Mueller on speakerphone and have notes taken of his conversation.

It is good thing Congress is doing that which the Special Counsel didn't do, MM.

Too bad this wasn't done prior to losing The House.

Everyone had to wait for Mueller to stop blocking the real investigations. This is no coincidence that things are moving forward, IMO.

I think that China felt they were being beaten so badly in the recent negotiation that they may as well wait around for the next election, 2020, to see if they could get lucky & have a Democrat win - in which case they would continue to rip-off the USA for $500 Billion a year....

....The only problem is that they know I am going to win (best economy & employment numbers in U.S. history, & much more), and the deal will become far worse for them if it has to be negotiated in my second term. Would be wise for them to act now, but love collecting BIG TARIFFS!

“I agree with TK on RR's review of the warrant extension.”

What is the argument? That if we think RR was wrong to rubber stamp the FISA extension, then Barr was wrong to take Mueller’s report at face value?

Or is it the other way around, that if it was ok for Barr, then it was ok for RR.

I’m probably closer to the second view, but I don’t think the situations are comparable. One is a 400-page report on a 2-year $30 million investigation, with a bottom line decision not to prosecute, and the other a warrant to spy on US citizens and a political campaign. Doesn’t the second require more scrutiny?

And in any case, if RR is off the hook, those just below him who filed the warrant should be in trouble.

The Infamous Ignatz

Barr was doing what any sane prosecutor, or human for that matter, does.
It's an extremely common legal argument used in dismissals , summary judgments, etc; even if we grant that everything alleged is true there is no case here. There is no statutory crime or tort, regardless of the evidence.
The theory of obstruction was fatally flawed on its face so why not simply grant Mueller's meaningless claims? It's actually a stronger argument in some ways. Even if I grant you the unlikely claim that everything you say is correct and let you have your best shot, there is still nothing here.
Why do you think Mueller put himself on the DL and called in a pinch hitter?

Miss Marple's link about the model of Rome, sent me off to my bookshelf, and since it's a Saturday night, I'll veer off politics for the moment.

I have a wonderful book (Rome Antique av VI e Siecle AP. J. C.) with huge maps and photos of an earlier Model of Rome, at a scale of 1/400, begun around 1908 by Paul Bigot, which occupied him for most of the rest of his life.

Maquette Maps

There's a lot more info on the French wikipedia page. In a Chrome browser Google will automatically ask if you want to translate, which will actually give you a passably legible, if not grammatical. form of English!

Maquette Caens

Bigot intended to have it cast in bronze (!), a project which remained uncompleted at the time of his death in the early 40's, but this partial sample suggests that it would certainly have been spectacular:

Maquette Bronze

Two out of four models survive, the primary one at the Université de Caen. Here's a quick YouTube Tour. The University has been working from Pigot's model to a fully Digital Virtual Model. I'm not sure whether or not it's a fait accompli or a work still in progress, but I would love to visit it! This is a Google translation, which I should have abridged, but didn't. You could probably even skip this excerpt altogether, but never mind.

Paul Bigot s “Plan de Rome”. From Paul Bigot s plaster model to the virtual model due to the Université de Caen. The paper describes the origins and the story of the 70-square meter model of ancient Rome that was made by the architect P. Bigot at the beginning of the 20th century, known in France as the Plan de Rome. The Plan de Rome is an exceptional piece of French cultural heritage whose only equivalents are its twin which is in Brussels and the model made by I. Gismondi which is now in the Museo della Civiltà Romana, at Rome. In Rome, the Plan de Rome was presented during the Mostra Archeologica in 1911 from which the Mostra Augustea della Romanità originated in 1937- ’38. In this exhibition was exposed the Gismondi’s model. Work on developing a virtual model of the city of Rome in the fourth century A.D. began in Caen in 1994. The project is based on the Plan de Rome and involves the development of a fully interactive model of ancient Rome that includes both its architecture and the machinery in use. In reconstituting the past, scholars are able to test their assumptions from the architectural and topographic viewpoints and test machine functionality. The visitor to the virtual site is able to wander through a full-scale city and enter most of its large public monuments and a few residences The work preliminary to the reconstruction itself involves the analysis of ancient sources, which is currently being performed by the project team’s members who have recourse to outside experts for help with specific points. The body of sources is directly accessible through the interactive model.

The only other existing model at Brussels, has been "colorized!"

Maquette Brussels

The were two additional models, one of which was supposed to have been sent to Philadelphia no longer exists, but according to the French wiki article, "fragments still seemed to exist in Philadelphia in the early 2000s." Tantalizing detail.

""Now is the winter of our discount tents""

LOL! I'm glad you pointed that out, because I couldn't read it in the photo.

I'm a Richard III fan in my own bizarre way. He and Leonardo da Vinci are the thematic leads in another one of my big poems-in-progress. I was struck by the fact that they were both born in 1482, in what were such very different worlds. I take Richard III as emblematic of the medieval mind, which saw misshapen form as an outward manifestation of a misshapen, if not evil or ungodly, psyche. Leonardo is the essential Renaissance man, yet his Vitruvian Man, in its very perfection, is a sort of flip side of medievalism, rather than a clean break from it. The battle between order & chaos is hardly a new concept, but it's fun to play with in verse. I treat it as a kind of civil war....

I take no pleasure in the Hill article. It is a local story, unrelated to the congressman, and a sad circumstance about a person I new peripherally whose private life became public.

It doesn’t reflect badly on the congressman, and it doesn’t change my opinion of the person who did his best at several different jobs over the years.

Miss Marple:

I don't think I've read The Last Plantagenet, which I will put on my list. I don't really share the Shakespearean/Thomas More view of Richard, and I thoroughly enjoyed the novel you recommended some time ago, whose title and author (a woman) I can't seem to dredge up at the moment. It was a great read, and she made an excellent case for the kinder gentler version of RIII.

He does make a great bad guy though. Have you seen 1995 RIII film with Ian McKellen & Annette Bening? It is fantastic adaptation set in a fascistic 30's style state. It may be one of the best RIII's I've seen. Al Pacino also did a fascinating movie called Looking for Richard, which revolves around a theatrical troupe staging a performance (or maybe a film) of the play. It's actually rather odd that RIII has had such staying power, because when you think about it, doesn't really have much to speak of in the way of a plot.

Beasts of England

The only one I saw had the affiant redacted, jimmyk. But the title was visible as 'Supervisory Special Agent, FBI'. Sounds like Strzok, but that's only a guess.
