The media won't be happy until anyone to the right of @CNN is banned from having a voice.
And lets not pretend this is just about social media either, leftists are already pressuring web-hosting sites, banks & credit card companies to ban people they disagree with politically.
I'm so glad the Prez is taking on the free speech issue, and that he recognizes the full scope of the problem. It's not just silencing people, it's the attempt to starve, and drive them under.
In other news, I guess grants for climate change related causes must be drying up. Breaking news from the U.N.:
The king wanted to go fishing, so he called on the royal weather forecaster and inquired as to the weather forecast for the next few hours.
The weatherman assured him that there was no chance of rain in the coming days, So the king went fishing with his wife, the queen. On the way he met a farmer on his donkey.
Upon seeing the king the farmer said, "Your Majesty, you should return to the palace! In just a short time I expect a huge amount of rain to fall in this area".
The king was polite and considerate, he replied: "I hold the palace meteorologist in high regard. He is an extensively educated and experienced professional. And besides, I pay him very high wages. He gave me a very different forecast. I trust him."
So the king continued on his way. However, a short time later a torrential rain fell from the sky. The King and Queen were totally soaked and their entourage chuckled upon seeing them in such a shameful condition
Furious, the king returned to the palace and gave the order to fire the professional. Then he summoned the farmer and offered him the
prestigious and high paying role of royal forecaster.
The farmer said, "Your Majesty, I do not know anything about forecasting. I obtain my information from my donkey. If I see my donkey's ears drooping, it means with certainty that it will rain."
So the king hired the donkey.
And thus began the practice of hiring dumb asses to work in the government and occupy its highest and most influential positions.
The practice is unbroken to this date and, thus, the democrat symbol was born!
Chris Hayes unveiled a new conspiracy theory last night that accused
Republicans, business owners and economists of purposely tanking the
economy under President Obama.
I assume this goes up against the conspiracy theory that Obama purposely tanked the economy himself.
I am glad, too, and I am especially glad that he is supporting some of the more fringey people that the "perfect conservatives" don't like to be associated with.
A long time ago, back in the 80's, there was a movie in which the sinister power trying to control everything was "The Phone Company." It was considered sort of funny but it did recognize the danger of corporate control of speech and politics.
Now Silicon Valley is doing this exact thing and excuse me, but Zuckerberg is nothing but a figurehead (I think he stole the idea for Facebook) and is married to a Chinese. There are no coincidences, as far as I am concerned. You cannot now even MENTION Paul Joseph Watson on Facebook or you will get banned. Someone on Twitter this morning said this is similar to how the Maoists enforced social conformity in China.
Furthermore, the effort to defund people by closing off bank accounts, PayPal, etc. is really frightening.
I rarely use my Facebook account because it is too clogged up with stuff and I have relatives who get too political on there. I pretty much migrated to Twitter and sites like this.
However, I don't object to anyone using it, and I know it's valuable for a lot of people.
This is a terrible situation, because it will escalate unless something is done.
Here is the local Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville) story on the charter 737 skidding off the runway at NAS Jax with 142 on board coming in from Gitmo.
Here is the excerpt of Rosenstein’s recent speech where he criticizes pundits. Note the part where he points out they often have no or little information on the issue they are opining on. That means they are speculating.
The most recent example of that here at JOM would be lurkersusie linking to a pundit who cited an article from the Human Events pundit that was linked a couple days back. Both of them were speculating and it triggered the confirmation bias of some here that Rosenstein was not doing anything to stop Mueller from pursuing Weissman’s OoJ theory. It’s possible that is what happened but no one has proof of that.
Then there are the mercenary critics, who get paid to express passionate opinions about any topic, often with little or no information. They do not just express disagreement. They launch ad hominem attacks unrestricted by truth or morality. They make threats, spread fake stories, and even attack your relatives. I saw one of the professional provocateurs at a holiday party. He said, “I’m sorry that I’m making your life miserable.” And I said, “You do your job, and I’ll do mine.”
His job is to entertain and motivate partisans, so he can keep making money. My job is to enforce the law in a non-partisan way; that is the whole point of the oath of office.
In our Department, we disregard the mercenary critics and focus on the things that matter. As Goethe said, “Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least.” A republic that endures is not governed by the news cycle. Some of the nonsense that passes for breaking news today would not be worth the paper was printed on, if anybody bothered to print it. It quickly fades away. The principles are what abide.
The more I think about Herman Cain and Stephen (?) Moore abort their nominations to the Fed the more angry I get.
Who remembers Timothy Geithner? Who sailed through the nom process but couldn't do his taxes correctly...
If Romney was indeed behind this, it's another mark against him. We need competent people in gov't and not afraid to serve because Lefties, media and GOPe (but I repeat myself) concealing long knives for their families and their future.
In the previous thread you disagreed with my use of the term "exoneration". I think its still the best term to use to describe Mueller's investigation proving the Democrat's false allegations against Trump were not true.
I just got an email from Tommy Tuberville. He is going to run against Doug Jones for his 'Bama senate seat. Tommy is a total Trump guy according to his fundraiser. What is his chance, BoE and Tom R?
My issue is the left hates anyone who has worked for a living. Unless you are a life long politician you are not allowed in government, because you might not fall in line with the rip-offs going on.
All this talk of sugar water makes me wonder if any of you have been listening to anonamom or Jane or kk or even Taubes.

After his plane was hit and he was forced to eject, a Marine fighter pilot finally regained consciousness. He was in the hospital in a lot of pain. He found himself in ICU with tubes in both arms, a breathing mask, wires monitoring every function and a nurse hovering over him looking worried. It was obvious he was in a life threatening situation.
The nurse game him a serious look straight into his eyes. Knowing he was not only a fighter pilot but a Marine, she spoke to him softly and slowly enunciating each word: “You may not feel anything from the waist down.”
Somehow he managed to mumble in reply “Can I feel your boobs, then?”

How can it be possible that James Woods (and many others), a strong but responsible Conservative Voice, is banned from Twitter? Social Media & Fake News Media, together with their partner, the Democrat Party, have no idea the problems they are causing for themselves. VERY UNFAIR!
I kinda like Tuberville, JiB. He certainly has good name recognition and a statewide network built-in from his coaching career - so those will be a significant advantage.
I agree with Tom R - he or any other non-Roy candidate should have an excellent chance of beating Jones.
He is a master at trolling and they, the resistance or the media fall for it every time. That is truly an amazing thing. He is laughing at them before they have even read them.
Nick Short has written an easy-to-follow article with the significance of the Russian gals and Halper, and how they were used. Highly recommend reading this.
I forgot he was the Cincy coach, JiB. He is quirky, but it seems more light-hearted than anything. And I can see him being an ally and promoter of Trump and his agenda.
The flooding of the entire chip memory market, or in Wall Street speak, inability to create price stickiness (Actually heard that one, live), brought distortions in all sorts of places. Flash improvements, plus price pressure from the other forms, created a very nice buyers market. Catering to analysts for your protracted biz model is fraught with risks from that club. The flip to SSD instead of HD as standard design is probably here. In any event, thank you for the terminology update. The science behind it I understand, just not the details of the actual, practical ingineering that goes into it.
Regarding a topic last thread, the Speech or Debate Clause does not protect a congresscreep from felonious speech. So if they cling to that Mueller/Weisman definition of obstruction they can still be hauled off to the hoosegow.
Like Stephanie pointed out yesterday, it is 3:15 pm here and we are getting our afternoon thunder-bumper plus rain. It will be over in less than an hour. Got damn close to 90 today without a hint of a breeze.
In reality, she was a government investigator sent to London by the FBI to gather intelligence about whether or not the Trump campaign was working with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election.
How does Nick Short know that? Or that her name is fake?
My question for both Auburn and 'Bama fans is will a 'Bama fan vote for him?
Of course if he wins the GOP primary and its a choice between Tuberville or Jones. I think John Merrill will enter the race if he decides to forego his career progression path of becoming the governor. He is a Bama guy and was SGA president when I was in school there.
Stu's thread I posted at 3:43 references the New York Times article about the spying and says she was sent under an assumed name (per the Times reporters) and said she had a relationship to an "unidentified alphabet US security agency."
All he got was a promise to "write a note to his teacher". What a condescending prick. If I was that kid's father I would have gone up and punched him the nose. These are the Democrats. Factual and live in color.
Thanks, BoE and Tom R. Just knowing the unique competitive situation in Alabama between those two schools it was a question that had to be asked.
At one time they wanted Urban Meyer to run for Governor but he was told no one from FSU or Miami would vote for him:) Don't know if that is true story but he would have taken a huge pay drop.
It was a good question, JiB. I was trying to think of other friends and family who might have an issue with him in that regard, and I can't imagine a problem. And, as much as I hate to say this, Alabama is regarded as far more liberal than our other SEC school.
I am glad average people are starting to post stuff like that on Twitter. I keep my eyes peeled for it because while we know what the dems are really like, busy people (like farmers) who don't have time to keep an eye on the internet or C-SPAN are NOT aware, and when they see behavior like that they get PO'd.

Implicit negative attitudes towards other races are important in certain kinds of prejudicial social behaviour. Emotional mechanisms are thought to be involved in mediating implicit “outgroup” bias but there is little evidence concerning the underlying neurobiology. The aim of the present study was to examine the role of noradrenergic mechanisms in the generation of implicit racial attitudes.
Methods
Healthy volunteers (n = 36) of white ethnic origin, received a single oral dose of the β-adrenoceptor antagonist, propranolol (40 mg), in a randomised, double-blind, parallel group, placebo-controlled, design. Participants completed an explicit measure of prejudice and the racial implicit association test (IAT), 1–2 h after propranolol administration.
Results
Relative to placebo, propranolol significantly lowered heart rate and abolished implicit racial bias, without affecting the measure of explicit racial prejudice. Propranolol did not affect subjective mood.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not believe President Trump can be removed through impeachment — the only way to do it, she said this week, is to defeat him in 2020 by a margin so “big” he cannot challenge the legitimacy of a Democratic victory.
That is something she worries about.
“We have to inoculate against that, we have to be prepared for that,” Ms. Pelosi said during an interview at the Capitol on Wednesday as she discussed her concern that Mr. Trump would not give up power voluntarily if he lost re-election by a slim margin next year.

Raccoons are fighters, I wouldn't recommend tangling with one. Years ago my daughter left a cooler with food in it on my deck. When I opened my door to let the dog out, he went right after the two raccoons who were in the cooler. The dog was no match for the raccoons who beat the heck out of him.
I keep my feeders on shepherds poles in pots big enough to hold them. They're right outside the kitchen window on the deck so we see them quite often. The color red is supposed to attract the hummers so I fill the pots with red petunia's. I never have a problem with animals getting into the feeders. But yes keep those feeders clean, especially the tube where the birds stick their long beaks into (beaks?). A fungus can build up in those tubes and eventually kill the birds if not cleaned properly. I have a couple of tiny brushes for that.

Beast's,
I met him at a team alumni dinner when he was our coach at Cincy. Back in 2015. Funny guy. Sort of quirky humor but can create inspiring players.

Beasts,
He was hired when Whit Babcock was the AD. Old Auburn colleagues. Also, his wife is from Guilford, Indiana about 30 miles west of Cincy.
My question for both Auburn and 'Bama fans is will a 'Bama fan vote for him?

Extraneus,
I believe it was determined that her name was fake because they could find no record of her anywhere. I read that the other day but didn't post it.
I mean that there was no passport number, birth certificate, etc. as well as nothing on social media.
The second part (whether she was an FBI employee) I do not know about.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | May 04, 2019 at 03:22 PM
Reporters can query the passport database?
The FBI thing is speculative. She might be CIA, or foreign intelligence used by CIA. If so, Brennan is in deep shit.

Posted by: Tom R | May 04, 2019 at 03:44 PM
I wouldn't hesitate to vote for him, JiB!!
Posted by: Beasts of England | May 04, 2019 at 03:44 PM
Extraneus,
Stu's thread I posted at 3:43 references the New York Times article about the spying and says she was sent under an assumed name (per the Times reporters) and said she had a relationship to an "unidentified alphabet US security agency."
So, you are right. Could be CIA.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | May 04, 2019 at 03:45 PM
Merrill's a good guy, Tom R.
Posted by: Beasts of England | May 04, 2019 at 03:48 PM
All he got was a promise to "write a note to his teacher". What a condescending prick. If I was that kid's father I would have gone up and punched him the nose. These are the Democrats. Factual and live in color.
Posted by: Jim Eagle | May 04, 2019 at 03:50 PM
Thanks, BoE and Tom R. Just knowing the unique competitive situation in Alabama between those two schools it was a question that had to be asked.
At one time they wanted Urban Meyer to run for Governor but he was told no one from FSU or Miami would vote for him:) Don't know if that is true story but he would have taken a huge pay drop.
Posted by: Jim Eagle | May 04, 2019 at 03:55 PM
It was a good question, JiB. I was trying to think of other friends and family who might have an issue with him in that regard, and I can't imagine a problem. And, as much as I hate to say this, Alabama is regarded as far more liberal than our other SEC school.

Jack,
I am glad average people are starting to post stuff like that on Twitter.
