TK,

That is a fair objection. I will try to be more een-handed.

I honestly have no idea what the truth is on this. There are a fair number of people on Twitter who believe there is a long-term strategic plan. Sometimes I can see this is a possibility.

Then I look at the unexpected events that happen and how the President seems to recalculate. An example would be the loss of the House in last year's election. In these cases, I think he is simply fast on his feet and outfoxing those who come against him.

And a lot of times I think it's divine intervention.

Jack is Back!

peter,

Mrs. JiB was going to go up to Lake Waramaug for the big school regatta but the weather soured her. Frederick and team are rowing in the rain. Biggest high school regatta in the northeast. Run by The Gunnery school. They row from 9 to 5:30 over 20 teams, boys and girls.

--it seems to be every man/woman for themselves--

Wow, that was not very woke.
I'm sure before we're done some of the Dems will let us know they're transvestites or transsexuals or transfats or some kind of otherkin.
They have not yet begun to weird.

clarice

Thnx for the tip, Jane.

I think it is a combination, MM. I do believe he had a long term plan to repair DC and I think a ton of it blew up in his face. He reacts very quickly and adjusts as best he can.

President-Elect Jim,SunnyvaleCA

Can we all, or mostly, agree that that the 4D/Kabuki theory will be resolved one way or the other by about Nov 2020? Why delay till later if Repubs can deliver the evidence?

There may not be a formal announcement but there will be a list of indictees, and we all know which names need to be there and a rough count of members. And there will be various mic drops and leaks ("the dang Repubs schlonged us!")

I'm content to wait.

Threadkiller

Birthers were born to wait, Jim.

Doesn't mean we can't have fun in the meantime. :-)

Threadkiller

Back to the weed and brush clearing.

Later.

President-Elect Jim,SunnyvaleCA

I guess one side or the other can argue for the trigger being pulled after the election, when PDJT is "more flexible", if it is deemed that the issue is volatile and could energize rather than demoralize the Dem base.

Still, I'll go with 11/20 as a drop dead date.

Plus we're already noting expiring statute of limitations.

Beasts of England

Here's what a Country House win looks like: one of my good friends and his wife bet the longshot yesterday at Churchill Downs!! And, yes - all the kewl kidz wear bow ties!!

Yes, Jack, high school crew the world's worst spectator sport, even with binoculars I often couldn't figure out which boat my kid was on. But a great activity for the kids. Good luck to Frederick.

Threadkiller

Ig, I meant to clarify what I said about hawks yesterday.

The hawks I referred to yesterday are Red-tailed hawks and the falcons are indeed Coopers hawks .

Jane

I read that earlier Melinda. Too bad I'm clueless about what it means.

The Infamous Ignatz

I caught that before, TK.
Incidentally the Sharp Shinned Hawk looks a LOT like a Coopers Hawk, it's just a little smaller.
Accipiters have relatively short rounded wings and long tails for maneuvering through the forest and undergrowth.

Saw a couple of peregrines or prairie falcons out in Nevada going after each other. Hard to see how their thin boned skeletons hold up to the g-forces they must generate.

The Infamous Ignatz

--Exactly what we’re these efforts?--

Good question. Apparently the grand inquisitors think the subjects of a witch hunt are obliged to keep an obsequious radio-silence while the g.i. decide whether he should be tossed in a moat to see if he floats or whether the testimony from someone he turned into a newt and who later got better is sufficient to convict.

“Trump’s unfathomably stupid, impulsive, self-defeating efforts to wield executive power to control the Russia investigation”

I assume Goldsmith has to throw that in so he can still enter the faculty lounge at HLS and his neighbors in Cambridge don't put sugar in his gas tank.

Extraneus

I think I read that the Cooper's Hawk is the 2nd fastest bird, second only to the Peregrine Falcon.

clarice

Back to the tarmac story. The reporter who "just chanced upon it" was fired right afterwards and I don't remember his name. Is it terribly speculative to suggest someone tipped him off and if so, he'd never be able to reveal that?

Extraneus

Apparently not even in the top 10.

How are the first 6 responses to Trump's tweet from two Krassensteins? I thought bots weren't allowed.

'Not since Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld have I seen such terse, justifiable dismissal of blather and not since Edwin Meese have a seen a Republican attorney general who wasn’t a timid wretch.'

Love it, Clarice!! :)

The Infamous Ignatz

--I think I read that the Cooper's Hawk is the 2nd fastest bird, second only to the Peregrine Falcon.--

If you did they must have been on something.
Other falcons and raptors are very fast in dives as well and the spine tailed swifts of Eurasia are exceedingly fast in level flight.

Coopers hawks are relatively weak fliers power-wise but are extremely maneuverable. The Goshawk, the Cooper's larger cousin is pretty impressive slipping between the tree trunks after prey.

The Infamous Ignatz

Oops, didn't see your later comments, Ext.

Sorry, I should have refreshed before I posted the President's tweet.

I got busy vacuuming and then I had to change the vacuum bag. I absolutely hate doing that!

One last thought before I fire up the brush cutter, if Clinton wasn't hopping on Lynch's plane to hand deliver the routing numbers to her payoff account and it was really intended to put her in a position of appearing to be compromised, that theory isn't that far off from why I believe Trump started showering Rosenstein with compliments or why Rosenstein looked like he was going to puke everytime Barr said that "The deputy AG and I" cleared Trump.

Maximum Security threatens legal action after 'egregious' Kentucky Derby DQ https://trib.al/9zZ6pec

Captain Hate

Last summer in Santa Cruz, my youngest daughter, her squeeze and I were on a loop trail at Wilder Ranch when we saw a quail family dart across the trail from one mass of thorny brush to another. At that time a falcon flew over at a low altitude filing those birds away as potential future meals.

Jack is Back!

While in the Sand Box (S.A.) I went to a couple of falconry competitions the Saudi's love to run on weekends (Friday & Saturday:). The most popular Falcon in Saudi A. is the Cherrug/Saker Falcon. I think it is a warm weather Falcon, and that explains its popularity there.

The jockey on Maximum Security (Saez): 'When you’re leg weary, you’re not going to run straight all the time,' he said. 'Horses don’t either.'

Horses will test a rider occasionally by rubbing him/her into things. There's no one size fits all response to it but the horse must understand that's unacceptable behavior or it will happen again.

Old Lurker

A-mom "I assume Goldsmith has to throw that in so he can still enter the faculty lounge at HLS and his neighbors in Cambridge don't put sugar in his gas tank."

Exactly my thought reading that.

But I don't think they sell sugar in Cambridge. Or have gas tanks. Does Splenda do the same thing?

lyle

We used to be inundated with quail in our neighborhood. For the third year we have again a pair of nesting hawks on the golf course. Haven’t seen any quail in this same period of time.

On a brighter note, the feeders went up yesterday and three hummingbirds showed up last night as we ate dinner on the deck with friends. (pan-seared, apple cider-brined pork tenderloin with porcini mushroom risotto)

TK: you don't seem so neutral.

I’m too busy to read the fine print required for MM’s posts, TK. Just SOB.

Hummingbird’s favorite meal.

jimmyk

It seems poor sportsmanship on the part of the Country House team to lodge the objection when their horse was not affected. In fact the tangle-up probably slowed Maximum Security a bit. I could see War of Will complaining.

Beasts of England

No doubt, Captain. This particular horse didn't care for me at all. He was giving me the stink eye from the beginning...

D

I don’t need to wait for any further information to ascertain that 4D is non-existent and as events unfold President Trump does the best he can to handle it.
Mueller has been a thorn in his side for over 2 years.
No one would willingly invite that.
Should all the evidence have been released earlier?
I have always argued in favor of full disclosure ASAP.
A major mistake which hopefully can be rectified soon.
Another week goes by and we are forced to wait on Horowitz’s report while the media begin to trash him and continue to defame Barr and the President.
I don’t recall Obama being trashed like this.
It is getting so I rarely watch Sunday shows filled with lies and propaganda.
Thank God for Clarice’s “Pieces”.
It consistently cuts through the fog of dishonesty and presents the unvarnished truth!

MissMarple2

Beasts,

One time when I was a kid I was riding the neighbor's wily old horse and he ran away with me through a cornfield! Let me tell you, getting hit on bare legs with corn stalks is like being whipped! Not fun.

When I got to the end of the field (hanging on for dear life) the old owner said, "Oh, he saw me come out to the barn lot and thought it was feeding time." Grrr.

I am incensed that the clearly superior horse, who led throughout the race was denied the crown.

The Kentucky Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough & tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch. Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby - not even close!

.@POTUS declared May 5, 2019, Missing and Murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives Awareness Day. We must work together as a Nation to ensure the safety of all Americans, particularly our most vulnerable populations.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/missing-murdered-american-indians-alaska-natives-awareness-day-2019/
==============================
I had forgotten about this, but a long time ago, when I used to listen to Coast to Coast AM late at night, there was a discussion of missing children from Indian reservations. This must have been at least 10 years ago.

I am glad to see the President calling attention to it.

Beasts of England

'A major mistake which hopefully can be rectified soon.'

I'm not sure how you can classify it as a 'major mistake' when you don't have all the data or know the parameters of release, maryrose.

Old Lurker

Maryrose, there never was a 4D plan in play to drain the swamp and jail marquee name lawbreakers. I have no doubt that Mueller and Rosenstein both were in on it from the get-go, with the latter flipping and flopping as the wind changed. Sessions was either in on it or more likely was duped by people who would not have been able to do that to him when he was younger, but he played his vital bit part and never missed a line.

The remaining mystery to me is whether Trump plans to conduct a Baptism Scene at all, or whether he plans to just tease that as red meat for us while secretly trading the bad guys their freedom in return for his own (and kids) when his time is up.

On that, I have no answer.

Captain Hate

Beasts,

I've been at a stable where the owner took a whip to a stubborn nag who didn't feel like being accommodating that day. Not a pretty picture but it produced a much more reasonable animal.

Mueller to testify in front of House Judiciary Committee May 15.

A very weird piece by Douthat.
The whole thing reads like a desperate effort to get ahead of the damning revelations about the Obama Administration's serial abuses, while simultaneously blaming Trump for the whole mess by being ... Trump.

For 10 months, China has been paying Tariffs to the USA of 25% on 50 Billion Dollars of High Tech, and 10% on 200 Billion Dollars of other goods. These payments are partially responsible for our great economic results. The 10% will go up to 25% on Friday. 325 Billions Dollars....

....of additional goods sent to us by China remain untaxed, but will be shortly, at a rate of 25%. The Tariffs paid to the USA have had little impact on product cost, mostly borne by China. The Trade Deal with China continues, but too slowly, as they attempt to renegotiate. No!
