Progressives are having trouble getting their own team to fall in line with their agenda.
Down bayou way, the Louisiana Governor, a Dem, signed a fetal heartbeat bill over outraged howls from the pro-choicers. Out in Nevada, the Dem governor declined to sign the National Popular Vote Compact, the progressive fantasy intended to eliminate the Electoral College.
What does this mean for the 2020 Parade of Candidates? Will progressives take a "can't trust these moderates" stance and fight, fight, fight with even greater conviction to make sure a non-delusional Dem such as Biden is not the nominee?
Or will this give them pause to wonder whether the nation might not really be teed up for their latest and bestest ideas?
I'll (continue to) bet they fight, fight fight to make sure their party does not offer the nation a sensible choice.
Regarding what someone linked last thread;
Does anyone think American education today would teach The French Revolution as anything other than a how-to-manual, contrasted ever so positively with the racist, capitalist-roader, Amurikkkan one?

The French Revolution was a leftist fantasy starting with the Rousseauian nonsense on which it was based and terminating with mob rule and terror. Our Constitution made sure that didn't happen which is why the left hates it including RINO initiatives like the 17th amendment. Likewise the unconstitutional stupidity about state's bending over for the National popular vote, in effect selling out their own citizens.

Tonto & Miss Marple:
I hadn't heard of Mouse Magic scent pads (which may be one of the only things that you can't get from Amazon!). Oddly enough they sound like an update on an old country remedy -- no wonder they work! :-)
You can make your own by eye-droppering (that's for you, Ignatz!) peppermint oil on cotton balls. Looks like Mouse Magic uses a combo of oils ["Active ingredients are peppermint and spearmint oils"] which you could do too.
It's also a good idea to check locations where pipes enter the house, because the cutouts around them often have enough "wiggle room," so to speak, for small animals to squeeze through. I read somewhere that a rat can squeeze through a quarter-sized hole! Stuff the opening around the pipe (or any inviting crevices with steel wool. I don't think I'd use it where pets could get at it though, without covering it over with duct tape or some such.

This is going to be an awesome Friday for MAGA. From the Barr interview:
JAN CRAWFORD: Um, what's the status of Huber's investigation in Utah? I think the former Attorney General Sessions had asked him to look at this.
WILLIAM BARR: Right, so Huber had originally been asked to take a look at the FISA applications and the electronic surveillance but then he stood back and put that on hold while the Office of Inspector General was conducting its review, which would've been normal for the department. And he was essentially on standby in case Mr. Horowitz referred a matter to him to be handled criminally. So he has not been active on this front in recent months and so Durham is taking over that role. The other issues he's been working on relate to Hillary Clinton. Those are winding down and hopefully we'll be in a position to bring those to fruition.

It's funny how going away leads me to think about things I seldom ponder at home. I suppose it removes the daily distractions and allows my brain to go other places. I am journaling which is always a good thing to do but especially after a life-changing event.

My prediction:
We will see, in just a few years, an epidemic of people with psychoses and other mental illnesses related to increased pot use.
The bottom line is that today's marijuana isn't the pot of the '60's. It's been manipulated and hybridized to increase the effects of the buzz, and there are literally hundreds of variations and strains out there on the market.
Hardly any research has been done on the long-term effects of these strains and variations, and we really just don't know what the repercussions will be.
But the little research on marijuana use that HAS been done already indicates that it increases the risk of psychosis and mental illness on those who have used it.
I really do worry about the future of all the kids now using it as its been decriminalized and legalized, and promoted.

WILLIAM BARR: I'd rather, in many ways, I'd rather be back to my old life but I think that I love the Department of Justice, I love the FBI, I think it's important that we not, in this period of intense partisan feeling, destroy our institutions.
IMO as part of the MAGA agenda Trump has always intended to restore the DOJ and FBI to institutions that adhere to and promote Constitutional rule of law. IMO one of the reasons it has taken so long for all the Spygate investigations to come to fruition is because Sessions, Barr and Rosenstein had to clean house in the DOJ/FBI first.

Good post. My son graduated from high school a few weeks back so ever since then he and his friends have been doing a lot of post-graduation celebrating. He is going to be playing college baseball starting in August so the other day I warned him about the NCAA doing drug testing on all athletes. He told me I didn't have to worry about him smoking pot. He said word is going around that some of the pot getting sold in the area is laced with fentanyl so the smart kids are staying away from it. No idea if that is true or not but if the rumor keeps my kids from smoking weed I am perfectly fine with that.

Speaking of stupid, the author apparently doesn't realize that the large majority of illegal immigrants part of the current border crisis are not Mexicans. As war is the continuation of diplomacy, trade war is an intermediate between the two. Diplomacy with Mexico over allowing the migrants free (subsidized) travel to the US border has failed. Do these conservatives prefer we burn Mexico City again? That is the alternative.

I'm starting to get the impression that Trump and Mueller weren't working together
Really? You've been trying to promote the (IMO false) narrative that Mueller really wanted to be FBI Director and formally interviewed for the job for a long time.
IMO what's really going on is Team Trump as well as a few hand-selected conservative pundits are intentionally promoting a narrative that is targeted to two separate audiences: 1) Trump supporters who firmly believed all the "Mueller is on a witch hunt" tweets and 2) Progtard/SJWs who also firmly believed Mueller was on a "witch hunt" and was going to nail Trump. Both audiences wanted to believe that was true so its easy for a Master Persuader like Trump to convince them of that reality.
The current Team Trump narrative is impeachment, impeachment, impeachment non stop. Brad Parscale flat out told everyone why Team Trump is doing this. The impeachment narrative from both sides is making it much easier for Trump to win in 2020.
Nancy Pelosi and the other smart Democrats fully understand what Team Trump is doing and know that Team Trump has successfully triggered all the nutjob Progtard/SJWs. Team Trump has even gotten numerous Democrat POTUS candidates to join in on the nonsense. That is why Pelosi is doing whatever she can to counter the Team Trump narrative and to convince all the Progtard/SJW nutjobs on the left to STFU and stop talking about impeachment.

DB at its peak (before the 2008 melt-down) was trading at $145 per share.
Today is $6.92 which means it’s worth about $0.047 cents on the dollar.
Everyone in the industry knows DB is bankrupt. But no one wants to talk about “What if…” they totally collapse.
The predictions of their looming bankruptcy aren’t just hype. Especially when you consider the IMF (International Monetary Fund) called DB the “most systemically dangerous bank” in the world in 2016.
Okay, so why?
DBs derivative exposure is estimated to be anywhere from $45-50 TRILLION dollars.
(With zeroes it looks like: $50,000,000,000,000.)
All of the financial organizations in the world don’t have enough capital to cover that amount. (And they’re not the only bank with $40+ TRILLION exposure to derivatives…Cough! JPMorgan, Cough! Citigroup, Cough! Cough! Bank of America).
Suffice it to say if DB goes belly-up, it will start a contagion (dominoes falling) that will spread throughout the banking industry like wild-fire.
You must understand one thing about the financial industry, everything is Connected…EVERYTHING!
So, instead of Mad Maxine Waters issuing subpoenas to Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Citigroup, related to the President’s finances and/or Russian money laundering, maybe she should look closely at their balance sheets instead.
Who am I kidding?
The majority of Congress Critters are all part of the cover-up.
They don’t want the truth to be known that they’re in on the con (pun intended) about how the house of cards in the banking industry could collapse at any time.
When it does collapse, they’ll be the first to cry, “I’m Shocked I tell you…SHOCKED! Who could’ve foreseen this happening?”

Followup to my 1:10
IMO Trump and Parscale know Trump is headed towards a landslide win in 2020. I think the reason Team Trump is promoting the impeachment narrative nonstop while Pelosi is trying to stop it are the downballot races. What Trump is really doing is getting all the Marxists/Communists/Progressives or whatever they want to call themselves to expose their true nature to American voters. Trump wants these nutjobs to keep ranting and raving about impeachment because in addition to him getting re-elected, it will help pro-MAGA conservatives win their races. Can you imagine how utterly defeated the hardcore leftwing movement in this country will be if Trump can turn a place like Illinois MAGA red?

Gus @ 2:14
That would be me. You posted the following in the previous thread:
The Huber investigation into HILLARY CLINTON is winding down.
Ahhhhh, I feel much better now. It's WINDING DOWN.
What do you think "winding down" means?
Posted by: Tom R | May 31, 2019 at 02:26 PM
I can't seem to remember who it was.
Huber had dozens of investigators bringing down the CLINTON FOUNDATION. ,,,,,
The BARR tells us Huber was only investigating Rodham...........
Can't remember who it was.

Hopefully, the Clinton investigation is "winding down" ... and the Clinton PROSECUTION is about to begin.

I agree fdcol, Barr said Hillary Clinton. He didn't mention the FOUNDATION, BILL or CHELSEA.
I mean, there is a difference. Right?
Someone must have been mistaken.

once it's wound up... we might find out if they did anything.

Note the quotes where Barr talks about how Rosenstein collaborated with him on questioning Mueller.

state judge, fwiw
A Missouri judge on Friday issued an order that will keep Missouri’s last abortion clinic from closing at midnight after Planned Parenthood warned the state was at risk of becoming the first in nearly fifty years to lack an abortion provider.

Tom R.,
".... IMO what's really going on is Team Trump as well as a few hand-selected conservative pundits are intentionally promoting a narrative ..."
OK, I can see Team Trump trying to stoke the "impeachment" narrative because, as Donny Deutsch's recent MSNBC focus group testing proved, it turns voters off ... and may eventually nudge voters to re-elect Trump. Unless the focus group-approved new term of "Trump criminal investigations" work to the Dems' advantage. LIVs will be LIVs, you know.
But to believe this tactic is in play, and given Don Jr.'s recent tweets bashing Mueller, you have to believe 1 of 2 things:
1) Don Jr. isn't aware that Mueller is a white hat.
OR
2) Don Jr. knows, but is keeping up the charade to keep pushing this narrative, and just lying in his tweets.
If it's #2, I just think Don Jr. is risking all of his future credibility to help his dad win in 2020.
Maybe he is, but I doubt it.

Do you know where your avocado toast comes from? If you're like most of the U.S., you can thank Mexico for all your avocado needs. But Trump's latest tariff threat could also threaten your avocado consumption.

Dear heaven, I really—REALLY—hope you’re wrong and those two are anything BUT that overconfident. Sheesh.
