So when there is just 3rd rate garbage floating around all the bureau chiefs have to get involved but when one faces a real threat almost nothing is said
We had a bit of excitement at The Farmhouse earlier today. Even though off-topic, you might say a certain "mastery" was achieved when all was said and done.
We used to have Airedales--and loved them greatly. After our last died in early 2012, we took a break from doggies for awhile. When the time was right two years ago, we decided to close the 20+ year chapter with the 'dales, going with a regional, the English Shepherd.
~~
Jack (22 months old) and younger brother,Hitch (10 months, same dame & sire, subsequent litters), teamed together this morning to rid the property of a groundhog.
Last year, Jack by himself had gone after a gh; I thought he might be a bit too young and fortunately was able to drag him away--not without a lot of effort and a bit of luck.
Today, the groundhog in question was standing up straight, much as you might see a prairie dog, about a hundred yards away from us. I was out walking with Mrs Daze, with the grandson in our arms.
Both Jack & Hitch are very protective. Hitch particularly likes to chase away the buzzards. I knew as soon as Jack would see the gh, he'd be after it--and boy, was he ever. This was Hitch's first experience; he let his older brother take the lead, but soon was all-in. First Jack, and then together, they cornered the gh in the middle of a field.
Then with constant circling, and barking, and jumping in close and then back out again, they wore-down their foe until they were able to get hold of it. First a few nips, then subsequently both had a hold.
Result, two very pleased English Shepherd pups.
We took our grandson to The Farmhouse, as the rain had just started falling when the engagement began. Then I walked back to get the pups.
Happy dogs, a job well done.
They are VERY protective and make wonderful watchdogs. Snart as a whip, tool
Alas, Maggie is getting up in years and I am afraid she won't last more than another year. She has bad arthritis in her hips and sometimes has trouble standing.
She has been a wonderful dog, and has been with me since my ex-husband left to work overseas, back over 14 years ago.
You have to be careful of single coyotes luring your dog into an ambush by a group of them, Sandy.
English shepherds are smart but so are coyotes. You might even say they're wily.
Yes one of Teddy's buds got lured into a coyote ambush. It wasn't fatal but the lesson was learned at least by the owner. The only way I'd unleash him after them would be if a dog or a person was being attacked.

From the last thread.. Thank you, thank you for the birthday wishes. Very kind of you to remember me.

But with my better half not in the best of health (we cannot travel any more) I can go out to the jobs at various times and then finish the photos when I get home and look after him.

Food for thought from Insty commenter jk brown--and A. Lincoln:
I've come to realize that the abortion date is another one of these conflicting definitions of liberty
Pro-"choice" view its as liberty for the woman. Pro-life view it as a balance of the liberty of the woman and the baby. These very early bans are problematic in regards to the latter.
The world has never had a good definition of the word liberty, and the American people, just now, are much in want of one. We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men’s labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatable things, called by the same name—liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatable names—liberty and tyranny.

Thank you to the manager of the Beverly Hills restaurant who made a point to approach my wife & me outside of the restaurant to thank us for staying in the fight. Sadly, I’m keeping his name, & the restaurant, quiet because of lunatic, insane liberals who can’t control themselves
But it reminds me that there are genuine, strong, solid, liberty-loving people EVERYWHERE. And we owe them our best effort, even in states and localities where it seems like a lost cause, to fight for liberty and freedom.

The investigation of DNC-Clinton campaign collusion with Ukraine is expanding. On Friday the Ukrainian official who gave falsified evidence to Dems was charged with a bribe from a RUSSIAN oligarch. Imagine if this were Trump campaign? Is @realDonaldTrump correct about them?
I never watched the series. Don't have cable and when I did, I didn't have HBO.
Looks like a lot of people were upset by the ending from what I see on Twitter. Also, this morning, my local TV station has posted that you can hire a counselor for dealing with the end of the series!

The Failing New York Times (it will pass away when I leave office in 6 years), and others of the Fake News Media, keep writing phony stories about how I didn’t use many banks because they didn’t want to do business with me. WRONG! It is because I didn’t need money. Very old
....fashioned, but true. When you don’t need or want money, you don’t need or want banks. Banks have always been available to me, they want to make money. Fake Media only says this to disparage, and always uses unnamed sources (because their sources don’t even exist)......
The Mainstream Media has never been as corrupt and deranged as it is today. FAKE NEWS is actually the biggest story of all and is the true ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! That’s why they refuse to cover the REAL Russia Hoax. But the American people are wise to what is going on.....
....Now the new big story is that Trump made a lot of money and buys everything for cash, he doesn’t need banks. But where did he get all of that cash? Could it be Russia? No, I built a great business and don’t need banks, but if I did they would be there...and DeutscheBank......
....was very good and highly professional to deal with - and if for any reason I didn’t like them, I would have gone elsewhere....there was always plenty of money around and banks to choose from. They would be very happy to take my money. Fake News!
Up early. Went downstairs with Mrs. JiB for a coffee and we spied a deer laying in the Wisteria bed. Mrs. JiB took her camera and carefully walked toward the bed. The deer immediately left and jumped our fence to the west. But she left this little "Bambi". No way she can get her to jump any of our fences. So, that means she was born here in our back lawn area.
Now we are trying to think about how to join her back up with her Momma. She is now looking for a way through the back fence.
Liked the Game of Thrones ending except for the fate of Jon Snow.I thought he should rule with Sansa in the North.

If someone was passing laws limiting abortion to less than 12 weeks and using that image posted on the previous thread as the justification for changing the law from 20 weeks or whereever it was, that would be one thing.
But that image doesn't justify insisting that women who find themselves pregnant in these states like Ga, Alabama, or MO cease to have any say in what to do as soon as they do not take the morning after pill. We end empowering creeps like biden, beto, or kamala harris who are outrageous on every issue because these legislatures simply do not care how a huge segment of their population feels about the legislature dictating from the get-go what must happen.
That picture is as irrelevant to the actual pieces of legislation in play as an adorable pic of a baby sitting on the floor. It accelerates the issue to "because of what this tissue might become, you have no choice." It ignores all the women too who have miscarried at 8 or 10 weeks and are painfully aware of what the fetus looks like at the actual stage when that choice is taken away by legislatures and governors now.

Why are the Democrats not looking into all of the crimes committed by Crooked Hillary and the phony Russia Investigation? They would get back their credibility. Jerry Nadler, Schiff, would have a whole new future open to them. Perhaps they could even run for President!
rse, pardon my jumping in, but to me the point of the picture Ig posted is to supply a reminder - that appears to be sorely needed - that as early as 12 weeks, the fetus is not equivalent to an appendix or a nail clipping. What should the response be to the, IMO, far more extreme position now being taken by mainstream democrats?
I think comparisons to miscarriage are misdirection. In no way comparable to the willful act of abortion. Doesn’t belong in the discussion IMO.
Given the increasing ease with which women can avoid all these moral hazards, wouldn’t one think that abortion is becoming “more wrong”?
“Well, I’m the one that talks about these wars that are 19 years, and people are just there, and don’t kid yourself, you do have a military-industrial complex. They do like war. You know, in Syria, with the caliphate, so I wipe out 100 percent of the caliphate. … I said I want to bring our troops back home. The place went crazy. You have people here in Washington, they never want to leave,” Trump said.
“I said, you know what I’ll do, I’ll leave a couple hundred soldiers behind, but if it was up to them, they‘d bring thousands of soldiers in. Someday people will explain it, but you do have a group, and they call it the military-industrial complex. They never want to leave. They always want to fight,” he continued.
“No. I don’t want to fight, but you do have situations like Iran. You can’t let them have nuclear weapons. You just can’t let that happen,” Trump concluded.

Starting Monday, our great Farmers can begin doing business again with Mexico and Canada. They have both taken the tariff penalties off of your great agricultural product. Please be sure that you are treated fairly. Any complaints should immediately go to @SecretarySonny Perdue!

Though it seems to be of little interest here, the episode last night on Game of Thrones was beta male inclusivity at its worst.
Modernized check the block scriptwriting.
Good grief.

RG,
I never watched the series. Don't have cable and when I did, I didn't have HBO.
Looks like a lot of people were upset by the ending from what I see on Twitter. Also, this morning, my local TV station has posted that you can hire a counselor for dealing with the end of the series!

How long before they claim the Russians interfered with the outcome?
(Disclaimer: I haven't watched a single episode.)

Here is Scot Adam's explanation of how people who have believed a hoax (lie) react when presented the truth, which contradicts their belief. It is about the "fine people" hoax most recently perpetuated by Creepy Joe, but of course, applies to the Russia Russia Russia thing as well:
https://blog.dilbert.com/2019/04/30/the-fine-people-hoax-funnel/
For those who find it TL;DR, or are put off by Scott, bottom line (as you've likely suspected for quite some time): facts don't matter.

She is now looking for a way through the back fence.

anonamom,
Thank you for that Scott Adams article. Ut us absolutely what I go through trying to discuss this with my daughter.
Only with her, she has become convinced that Trump is a sexual pervert. You cannot convince her otherwise.
I am not going to go through all of the arguments she puts up, but it follows the same pattern as Adams outlines.

Loved the Iron Throne meltdown. Also the meeting of the ministers at the end.

Iggy-
If someone was passing laws limiting abortion to less than 12 weeks and using that image posted on the previous thread as the justification for changing the law from 20 weeks or whereever it was, that would be one thing.

Robert Frost
One thing has a shelving bank, Another a rotting plank, To give it cozier skies And make up for its lack of size.
My own strategic retreat Is where two rocks almost meet, And still more secure and snug, A two-door burrow I dug.
With those in mind at my back I can sit forth exposed to attack As one who shrewdly pretends That he and the world are friends.
All we who prefer to live Have a little whistle we give, And flash, at the least alarm We dive down under the farm.
We allow some time for guile And don't come out for a while Either to eat or drink. We take occasion to think.
And if after the hunt goes past And the double-barrelled blast (Like war and pestilence And the loss of common sense),
If I can with confidence say That still for another day,
Or even another year, I will be there for you, my dear,
It will be because, though small As measured against the All, I have been so instinctively thorough About my crevice and burrow.
