As Dan McLaughlin says, if you want to learn who has power, learn who we are not allowed to offend:
Facebook acknowledges Pelosi video is faked but declines to delete it
When an edited video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) began spreading across the Web this week, researchers quickly identified it as a distortion, with sound and playback speed that had been manipulated to make her speech appear stilted and slurred.
But in the hours after the social-media giants were alerted, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube offered widely conflicting responses that potentially allowed the viral misinformation to continue its spread.
YouTube offered a definitive response Thursday afternoon, saying the company had removed the videos because they violated “clear policies that outline what content is not acceptable to post.”
Twitter declined to comment. But sharing the video would likely not conflict with the company’s policies, which permit “inaccurate statements about an elected official” as long as they don’t include efforts of election manipulation or voter suppression. Several tweets sharing the video, often alongside insults that Pelosi was “drunk as [a] skunk,” remained online Friday.
Dial the outrage to 11! Now, I don't believe the late night comic brigade that mocks Trump nightly is rigorously fact-checked for every little detail (Snopes is too busy grappling with the Babylon Bee.). But let's not go after Queen Nancy!
I'm assuming the coolant is adequate, but it only happened in the last few days

Pull you heater knob straight back and off the dashboard. Look at the back of it. It should look like a circle with a flat spot to index it to the nub that is on the dash.

AB,
The article points out they would be the largest producer of cars with a full merger. That may be, but I don't think that's the impetus either.
What I found interesting is that both parties admit to the talks and both seem interested in exploring ideas. I presume both see some ways they could cooperate.
I'm not an auto industry analyst either, but I assume one, or many, have looked at this and are advising both parties.
A lot of industry hook-up ideas come from investment bankers looking for fees. This may have already been gamed out.

I think at one time in the US. auto industry Company size equated to more profit, but that was a long time ago when each car actually sold for a profit.
Safety and emission regulations, foreign competition and really crappy workmanship took its' toll on the industry.
Fleet-wide MPG standards for individual firms were also unfair to US producers. Foreign firms had already captured the low MPG segment of the industry.
And the irony of that is that the UAW helped elect many of the people who wanted to impose those limits.

If it makes you feel better I think Wallace Shawn is a huge PDJT hater. Huge on the inside, like the TARDIS.
Adam Shatz: I’m very pleased and honoured to be sitting here with Wallace Shawn. Shawn is one of our great actors in American film and television, famous for roles he’s played in Manhattan and The Princess Bride, as well as in two great films with Andre Gregory, My Dinner with Andre and Uncle Vanya on 42nd Street, both of them directed by Louis Malle. Shawn is also one of our finest and most challenging playwrights. In The Fever, The Designated Mourner, and in his most recent play, Evening at the Talk House, Shawn has explored the sordid underbelly of Western privilege, the brutality and misery that make our lives possible and that we’d do anything not to think about unless we’re being entertained. Shawn has a new book, a terse, freeform essay that he calls Night Thoughts – a title that might just be applied to any of his writings which inhabit a nocturnal zone between reality and the world of dreams, or nightmares. His work has never seemed more urgent, more distressingly prophetic, because it’s always been acutely attuned to how easily civilisation slides into barbarism, and to the thin line between entertainment and cruelty – two topics we can’t avoid these days. Wally, it’s great to have you here.

They are rather small as you can imagine at those prices.
I remember my father telling me about homes you could buy from Sears in the last century. His aunt bought one. A freight train made a special stop near their lot which was adjacent to the railway and they dropped it off.
The things were stick-built, but everything was pre-cut with instructions and it fit together quickly. You still needed tradesmen for some of the work, but the time savings were enormous.
I watch "This Old House" like a religion and the new factories, as they have shown, are better than stick-built on tolerances and you can bolt a new custom-deigned home together in a few days.

PIN,
That was all over the local news a few days ago. The cop walking outside the car claimed he saw a gun and opened fire into the car killing the driver.
There's much more to the story on the prior chase, but cops on the scene were telling him to shut-up as he relayed his story. I think the cops on the scene were trying to help him out. I believe they knew it was a bad take-down.
I don't know if this is the same video:
https://www.nj.com/essex/2019/05/grand-jury-indicts-newark-police-officer-who-fatally-shot-fleeing-driver.html
But it shows the cop getting out of the car three times to shoot. One or two aborted attempts.
Here's a video that includes the initial confrontation with another Newark cop.
https://pix11.com/2019/05/23/new-video-emerges-of-initial-confrontation-that-led-to-fatal-traffic-stop-shooting-by-rookie-newark-cop/
There is more coverage available, but I think the big issue is that he was a rookie.
I think he over-reacted and used deadly force when it was avoidable.
Any good lawyer defending him would make the Newark Police Dept. culpable in the young officer's actions. I see a failure in training and supervision right off the bat. Why did the officer driving the police car repeatedly let him out of the car to shoot at the fleeing vehicle.
Bottom line, the rookie should be charged. Should he spend time in jail? No, not unless they put every one who trained or supervised him in their too.
It's a really good question for Gentlejim. I mean he wasn't there and doesn't all the details, but the videos are pretty clear.

CTV of Vancouver reported that numerous flyers had been posted at a local park which read, “Many Muslims live in this area and dogs are considered filthy in Islam. Please keep your dogs on a leash and away from the Muslims who live in this community.”
The city’s mayor was questioned about the signs by CTV and said they had not been issued by the city. However, he said “Whether they were produced by a well-meaning member of the Muslim community or by someone wanting to cause contention, the fact remains that there are current bylaws in place that enforce areas for dogs to be on leash, except in designated off-leash areas.”
The Stream.com’s John Zmirak reports that, as growing numbers of Muslims immigrate to non-Muslim countries, there have been similar calls to accommodate their cultural aversion to dogs.

Standard practice in large real estate transactions. A buyer and seller agree to a price, the buyer looks for financing, or pays cash, the lender looks for insurance on the loan. If it meets criteria a govt. loan entity will back it.

PIN and OL,
Hackensack is seeing an incredible re-development effort right now.
http://www.hackensack.org/Redevelopment
The building Dept. web-site lists many of them.
Right now, Hackensack is the new Hoboken, in terms of the number of developers and money being spent on new or re-habbed building.
And they are doing it the right way. No eminent domain. No taking of property. Just a re-zoning change to encourage the re-building of Main St.. And because we have a regional bus station and two commuter rail stations the town benefits from a state program that encourages building in transit centers.
If everything works to the developers expectations we will have 2,000 new housing units within 4-5 years.

PIN,
Yes and no. If you downsize and buy you may have a tax hedge.
Federal tax law has options that may allow you to avoid a capital gains tax.
A lot of northeastern states are imposing taxes on housing when you move out of state. It's like an exit tax and more strict than Federal rules. I think Illinois is doing something similar. I haven't researched it, but presume they are taxing capital gain, without recognizing that you may be buying a comparably priced home elsewhere. The Feds allow that, sell a home, buy one for the same price, no capital gain.
The current Hackensack boom is due to rising rental costs in the the tri-state area.
The developers are building rental units, not co-ops or condos. They are betting that they can appeal to renters who find Manhattan, Brooklyn, Hoboken and Jersey City rentals over-priced.
I think they are right. Banks and developers must have done their homework.
Banks, typically, don't finance stuff unless they expect to get their money back.

It's late for me. The sun is shining on my monitor, so I can't see it well, but I hope to respond later on how great your post was.

Real thunder buster in central and northern Ahia right now.
Looked out the window and there was an inch of water in the street, and a big bubbling mess at the storm sewer grate.
We lost power for about 10 seconds, just long enough to disturb every digital clock in the house:)

My father enlisted in the Army in 1938, and his enlistment term was almost up when Pearl Harbor happened. He served 7 years, going overseas to North Africa and then Italy.
He was a tech sergeant in charge of a company that did repairs on everything except munitions. Consequently, he had tailors from New York, machinists from Chicago, mechanics from St. Louis, etc. These guys stayed together all through their overseas time.
When the war was over and they were discharged, they scattered all over the country. This was particularly hard on my dad, who had formed close friendships with them, and who had grown up as an only child.
I can remember a couple of the friends coming to visit him when we were little, particularly a guy who was on a motorcycle (a rarity in the 50's) and who drank a LOT of beer with my dad.
The War was something almost all of the fathers of my classmates had in common, as well as a good portion of my teachers. It was a different world.

I agree with Arlington being a must do.
I walked it in my teens and still have memories. Now they have private company talking bus tours also.
We were there in April, and took the on and off bus tour. Ours was a SJW- w special emphasis on Black History tour. Not sure if they all are, or it was just our guide's choice--we were pressed for time, some did not get on and off.
Truly amazing to have ?85% of the graves pointed out to be that of a minority. (Military -wise. Women are not technically in the minority.) Not that their stories were uninteresting.
I would be very interested in returning with a private guide who knows military history and the cemetery and spend ing most of a day there though----it is truly hallowed ground.
Reaching the lake yesterday from the interstate caused us to drive past the township cemetery, which has flags marking all the veterans' graves. Good to see them honored.
And reminded me: the people who live here in this patch of flyover country didn't have to go buy a flag after September 11, 2001--they were already flying one.

I’ll briefly address the NJ pursuit/shooting videos. I watched the body cam video and follow up video up until the final shots. Their tactics are no bueno. As far as making judgment on the fatal shooting, I’ll not make any. The officer does point out a gun in his body cam video. He was on a serious adrenaline high from the get go, which is no surprise.

The fact that Saint McCain watched the inauguration with Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders and Chris Von Hollen, tells you what you need to know.

Captain Hate,
I do NOT understand this constant claim that President Trump's "authoritarian" style is also a dictatorship.
It seems to me this "authoritarian" canard is simply because he has a strong personality and won't take crap off of the press or the Never Trumper think tanks. Big deal. I have been waiting my entire life to have a president like that.
The dictatorship charge is ridiculous. If he were a dictator, that border would be closed and we would have revamped healthcare policies. Obama was far more of a dictator, with his excessive use of executive orders and his ignoring of Congress.
Also, either Klobuchar is lying or McCain was even nuttier than we thought.

Always have at my house, except for special occasions when we fly the Gadsden flag. I find that is almost as effective as cleaning firearms outside on the patio table:)
