Jacobson:

Nancy Pelosi is going to have a difficult time holding off the impeachment caucus.

Mueller said that we couldn't say he committed a crime, because the Constitution prohibits us.

We did not find clear evidence that he did not commit a crime is what Mueller said.

Thinks this is a very unfair standard. If he knew he couldn't charge him or accuse him, why did he take the position as Special Prosecutor.

Justice Department POLICY (not settled by a court case) is that you cannot indict a sitting president.

If his view is that they could never come to an opinion, why take the investigation?

If you can't find that the president committed a crime, and you can't find that he didn't commit a crime, then why did Mueller take the position? If we just wanted an investigation, then Congress could have done it.

I have a question.

If the House decides to go ahead with impeachment, don't they take a risk that stuff about Hillary and Obama will come out in testimony?

So the money laundering networks were left to run for decades just so they can be shut down under 11 D chess rules?

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Nadler will hold news conference on Mueller's statement at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday

James D.

What was THE POINT of ROBERT COMEY III giving this bullshitski speech????

To give aid and comfort to the Democrat Party, to damage the President, and probably to add another zero or two to the advance for the book Mueller is inevitably going to write.

GUS

Rodham can certainly be charged. RODHAM WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT.

matt - deplore me if you must

If the IG report ever comes out and Barr releases the intel reports, I think the Dems are going to have a very hard time with any mention of impeachment.

They have been doing their best to slime Barr with the knowledge that his actions could prove fatal to their cabal. So cast doubt upon the messenger. This should backfire on them bigly.

Once he starts squeezing they are going to squeal like stuck pigs.

Yes Narciso. It seems to me Mueller, Comey et alia were building money laundering networks, not shutting them down.

Multiple federal agents and prosecutors reached out to The Federalist after Mueller’s press conference to express dismay at the former FBI director’s behavior.

“I’d have been crucified under this rule for a ‘not innocent’ comment about an uncharged party,” a former federal prosecutor told The Federalist. “I literally cannot fathom holding a press conference to say that an uncharged person was not innocent.”

There’s no longer any doubt about who Robert Mueller is or why he conducted himself the way he did. Mueller ended his career today in total disgrace. It’s rare to see such a lauded figure burn down his reputation so badly.

Extraneus
DOJ guidelines expressly prohibit the actions of both Comey and Mueller in naming and shaming individuals who were never formally charged with any wrongdoing.

“As a series of cases makes clear, there is ordinarily ‘no legitimate governmental interest served’ by the government’s public allegation of wrongdoing by an uncharged party, and this is true ‘regardless of what criminal charges may . . . b[e] contemplated by the Assistant United States Attorney against the [third-party] for the future,'” states DOJ’s formal policy manual on the duties of federal prosecutors and principles of federal prosecutions.

Nationwide bar rules governing all practicing attorneys in the U.S. also explicitly prohibit Mueller’s display during Wednesday’s press conference.

“The prosecutor in a criminal case shall … refrain from making extrajudicial comments that have a substantial likelihood of heightening public condemnation of the accused,” states Rule 3.8(f) of the American Bar Association’s rules of professional conduct.

I've been tied up for a couple of hours so I just got the chance to read the full transcript. After reading what Mueller said today I guess I am not surprised at all with the comments I am seeing here. This is the third time now the public has heard Mueller's findings. The first time was Barr's summary. The second time was the official release of the full Mueller report. Mueller's press conference makes the third time.

The same people are making the same exact comments today they made the two previous times. There was nothing new revealed today except that the SC is officially over, Mueller is retiring, and if he testifies before Congress he will just repeat what he already put in the report.

What I find funny is how Mueller can repeat what has already been twice released to the public and trigger outrage in both some Trump supporters as well as Democrats & the leftwing media. You would think only one side would get outraged.

First, the opinion explicitly permits the investigation of a sitting president because it is important to preserve evidence while memories are fresh and documents available. Among other things, that evidence could be used if there were co-conspirators who could be charged now.

Not only did Trump not commit OOJ, Mueller has made it clear everyone else working for Trump did not either otherwise they would have been charged.

And beyond department policy, we were guided by principles of fairness. It would be unfair to potentially — it would be unfair to potentially accuse somebody of a crime when there can be no court resolution of the actual charge.

A Black Hat Deep State assassin trying to destroy Trump doesn't give a shit about fairness. He would go ahead and accuse Trump of committing OOJ for a non-crime knowing full well Trump would not be able to clear his name via an actual trial.

Trump, Trump Jr, Rudy, Graham and Sarah Sanders all expressed the same sentiment about what Mueller said today that I have. They weren't outraged and neither am I.

Tom R

First, the official White House statement from Sarah Sanders, who called on everybody to follow Mueller's lead and move on.

"The Special Counsel has completed the investigation, closed his office, and has closed the case. Mr. Mueller explicitly said that he has nothing to add beyond the report, and therefore does not plan to testify before Congress. The report was clear - there was no collusion, no conspiracy - and the Department of Justice confirmed there was no obstruction. Special Counsel Mueller also stated that Attorney General Barr acted in good faith in his handling of the report. After two years, the Special Counsel is moving on with his life, and everyone else should do the same."

And the statement from the campaign, which called on the DoJ to get to the bottom of the origins of the Russia hoax.

"Special Counsel Robert Mueller's remarks today confirmed what we already knew. There was no collusion between the Russians and the Trump campaign, and there was no case for obstruction. President Trump has been fully and completely exonerated. Mueller said his investigation is over. The case is now closed."

"Now it's time to turn to the origins of the Russia hoax and get to the bottom of why the Trump campaign was spied on by the Obama-era DOJ and FBI. Anyone who is for transparency, constitutional civil liberties, and the rule of law should want to know why human sources, wiretapping, and unmasking were used to infiltrate a presidential campaign."
