A pastor decided to skip church one Sunday morning and go play golf.

He told his assistant pastor that he wasn’t feeling well.

He drove to a golf course in another city so no one would recognize him.

He teed off on the first hole, and a huge gust of wind caught his ball. The ball carried an extra hundred plus yards and dropped right in the hole for a 450 yard hole-in-one.

An angel looked at God and asked, “What did you do that for?”

God smiled and said, “Who is he going to tell?”

Lest we forget:

From a USNA grad and Naval Aviation Historian.

100th Anniversary of the 1st aircraft to cross the Atlantic by air.
54 hours flying time in the air
Boat hull 54’9” long, 10’ beam built of spruce.
Overall length 68’1”
wingspan 126’
Two aviators sat side by side in the bow, worked together on the controls which required a strong effort at times. Also carried a 3rd pilot, radio operator, flight engineer, and a machinist mate.
Flight altitude was from 75’ to 3200’

[Personal recollection: Today the NC4 is in the Navy Museum at Pensacola. Years ago when I 1st saw it, the Museum was only one building with the NC4 in the back of the building. Parked In front of it and completely dwarfed by the NC4’s size was a PBY5A. Steve]

Willowed: Just starting on catch-up, but Pin re your turtles all the way down, I remembered it as something Bertrand Russell (the louse) had said, but the web gave me this: “William James, father of American psychology, tells of meeting an old lady who told him the Earth rested on the back of a huge turtle. "But, my dear lady", Professor James asked, as politely as possible, "what holds up the turtle?" "Ah", she said, "that's easy. He is standing on the back of another turtle." "Oh, I see", said Professor James, still being polite. "But would you be so good as to tell me what holds up the second turtle?" "It's no use, Professor", said the old lady, realizing he was trying to lead her into a logical trap. "It's turtles-turtles-turtles, all the way!”

Catsmeat, that was my turtles all the way down reference, and that’s exactly the point: “Explaining” the origin of life by saying it came from space is like the turtle holding up the other turtle.

Iggy, yes, it's a funny argument. Did life arise on Earth, independently, out of the primordial goo or did it come from elsewhere? The panspermia idea.

I'm having fun with all the new astronomical findings.

It's generally thought that present-day Earth was the result of two planets colliding and out of that fiery cauldron came Earth. What about the pre-history?

Was either planet supporting life before that?

That seems unlikely, noe there could have collisions with smaller bodies

Narxiso,

I'm just speculating. Yes accretion would have come first in the formation of the Earth. Lots of small collisions and a gradually larger mass. I don't know if that ever cooled enough on that proto-planet to support simple life forms.

The collision with Theia is a well thought out theory and I accept it.

https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/07/01/big-media-is-plotting-to-take-down-trump-what-can-you-do/

This has both audio and a transcript of an interview with Brent Bozell and Tim Graham.

I am going to put an excerpt here which backs up what I have been saying for a long time. This is Brent Bozell:

But here’s what I found. I was prepared, as I write in the book, I was prepared not to like the man. I had the perception of him as loud, gregarious, bombastic, self-centered, arrogant, aloof. All those things put together, to me, spelled J-E-R-K. But then you visit with the fella and I was just stunned.

It was the exact opposite. He was soft-spoken. He was courteous. He was genuinely inquisitive. He was laser-focused in his questions, listening to his guests intently, pushing back where he felt necessary, taking in what he needed to take in. A true gentleman.

I tell you something else that I noticed that, to me, was very telling. We went down that escalator, you know that famous Trump Tower escalator from whence he declared his candidacy?

You would expect that the vicissitudes of celebrity would be such that we would be dining in his private dining room or some fancy restaurant.

Instead, he went right to Trump diner, whatever that restaurant is at the bottom, and along the way stopped to to meet with staff, the people at the kiosk, the security guards, and whatnot.

He wanted to talk to them. I made note of that. So the man that I spent an hour with was completely different from the man you see in public, and I was really taken by it.

He is NOT the loudmouth jerk that the media has portrayed. I said before that they created this cartoon character and that is who the dems campaign against.

I watch a lot of stuff on the internet, including old interviews from his business career. He is very smart and has been thinking about the problems in this country for a very long time. He also is really very polite. If you watched the videos of the G20 it is very obvious that most of the leaders LIKE him.

OK, off my soap box.

Bernie Sanders

Senator Bernie Sanders was recently invited to address a gathering of the Indian First Nations chiefs in Denver , CO . He spoke for almost an hour about his plans for increasing the standard of living for all of their citizens by totally free government grants for free college educations, free Medicare for all, etc. He mentioned how he always supported these issues that came forward to him. Although Sanders was vague about the details for the funding of his plans, he spoke eloquently about his ideas if he wins the White House in 2020.

At the conclusion of his speech, the chiefs presented him with a beautiful plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, "Walking Eagle."

The proud Sanders accepted the plaque and then returned to Washington . A news reporter asked the chiefs how they came to select the new name they had given to Sanders.

They explained that "Walking Eagle" is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.
