I was very blessed to have had a great man as a father. Very eccentric; always liked to dress formally. Born in Tripoli, North Africa, which was an Italian colony at the time. Came to this country from Sicily at the age of 12 and was making honor roll in public school within a couple of years of landing here. Went to City College and St. John's Law School, while working in the FADA radio factory in Long Island City, New York. Someone in my family still has the radio he made for my grandmother there--it has a wooden cabinet and he gave it an extra coat of lacquer. Served under MacArthur in WWII in the Signal Corps, and stayed in the reserves for another 25 years after. God Bless all of the great fathers out there, and the not so great ones as well.

So my best friend was flying up from St Pete. Crash landing at NEWARK, had him diverted to DULLES, not flights left to Milwaukee. He gets a flight into O'HARE, so. YOU GUESSED it, I drive to O'HARE 2 hours south, then I drive US to the cabin. 7 ours north. Got to the cabin at 2 am, left my house at 5:30.
But I'm about to tuck into some walleye.

Remember the Blue Goose of Northeast Airlines? To get to my project in Marquette, MI (The UP:) I take one from National now Reagan, to O'Hare then switch to the Snow Bus: O'Hare to Iron Mountain or Escanaba then onto Marquette.

We had a Chinese guy who was our Structural Engineer, and every month he would come up to go over the iron works with our crew. One time he was on the same NE flight as me and our Labor relations guy. We landed in Escanaba and here he came down the aisle with a roll of blueprints under his arm. Our LR guy asked him, "Frank, where are you going?". Frank answered "To jobsite see Cooper (our Project Super).'

It's always about what they are going to take away from the citizens, because they say so, and it has zero to do with law and constitution. So enjoy the fact your child can be murdered and the Democrats will let the killer go free. After all it makes sense since they will now allow you to kill your baby right up until birth.

USA Powerlifting is facing a discrimination complaint in Minnesota over its transgender athlete policy after it said JayCee Cooper, a biological man, couldn’t compete in women’s events. The federation’s president told The Daily Caller it’s prepared to go to court to keep the policy in place, and framed the policy as protecting the federal rights of women.

“At some point, we are going to have to defend the biology and stand on women being a protected class, and it might as well start in Minnesota,” Larry Maile, USA Powerlifting president, told the Caller. The policy is not new, but the federation commissioned a group of experts to find out if it’s backed by science earlier this year, after the dispute with Cooper thrust them into the media spotlight late last year. The results were clear: It’s unfair to allow biological men to compete with women.

Hear hear. I see women powerlifters training all the time. It's very hard work, and takes a lot of effort and determination.

Just as an example, the men's bench press record is 738 lbs. The women's record is 457. Thousands of men can bench over 500, but obviously no woman has ever come close.

The other events have similar comparisons.

Allowing men to compete with women would be very discouraging to the female competitors and would surely ruin the sport.

Great news miss marple

I saw a snapping turtle laying eggs this morning, and I guess another two or three turtles were here during the day because I have multiple freshly dug and filled-in holes. I live on a river, which is about 10' or so below the edge of the back lawn, but the turtles climb up and lay their eggs every year. And every year, I see the holes dug up and pieces of eggshells all over the place. So this time...

I went to Lowe's and found rectangular wire baskets that were big enough to cover the nests. Topped off with cinder blocks and a large rock, they may hold. I think I'll get some fence staples tomorrow if they do.
