The NY Times notes the Democratic dance around Medicare for All and the possible elimination of private insurance.
But its what the Democrats all agree on that will really get them - the idea of free health care for all undocumented future Democrats when we have an obvious shortage of health providers for low-income US citizens? More crazy faster!
On the topic of immigration, Andrew Sullivan is excellent (either Sully is back from his Palin-fueled Alaskan wilderness journey or I have joined him.) Fareed Zakaria, a reliable lefty, is also concerned about his party's position.
BONUS QUERY - BLUE STATE BAILOUT?: Would the abolition of private insurance wipe out the obligation of various states on their health plans to public sector retirees and/or their current employees? One might think so but I have not checked the details of the Medicare For All plans or the state obligations to current and retired employees. That said, Connecticut, Illinois and New Jersey are on everyone's list of states Too Big To Fail, Too Blue To Succeed.
Of course, both public and private sector unions negotiated health benefits later in lieu of (unaffordable) pay increases immediately, so union support my be soft.
DO LET ME ADD: Just to pick Connecticut at random, state budget projections show health care expenses (current and retirees) of $1.5B in 2020, $1.6B in 2021.
Projected deficits are $1.9B in 2020 and $2.5B in 2021. Eliminating the health care expense is not a complete solution but every big bit helps.
I apologize for posting about this subject again, but I also failed to mention that I've also been reading for the past year that Oprah is funding a movie about the Tulsa Race Riots. I expect now it will be massacre.

my mom's best friend growing up in georgia in the same small town ty cobb was from moved out to tulsa after she married. Her Hubby's brother moves out as well a few years later and somehow meets oral and evelyn's daughter whom he married. So anytime we were on a family trip anywhere in the midwest going somewhere else mom (not the best at geography) always wanted us to stop in and visit her friends in tulsa.
I heard lots of stories and at one point had to insist that no, oru would not be a good fit for me.

PBS has a show running about the 10 most significant roads in America. I saw the show yesterday.
Of course Greenwood makes the list. They reported it as "fact" that it was bombed with flaming kerosene from the air. Seems a suspect claim for 1921.
They also said the number of victims was anywhere from 36 to maybe 300. What? Did a couple of hundred people go completely unaccounted for?
We can expect a campaign from now until the election on why an old white guy shouldn't be President.
That is what this "smells" like to me.

rse: I'm still chuckling at your ORU post. :) No, I was amazed when ORU was built. Can't remember if we lived here then. We moved to North Carolina and then South Carolina and then to London -- but, followed the news here. Part of ORU is a hospital. They built great, for the time, athletic facilities. They're still nice. Whenever I think of ORU, I see the Praying Hands and the tower in my mind's eye. :)
My husband worked at an engineering firm out near there for a long time. It's in south Tulsa.

Today @POTUS @realDonaldTrump became the first sitting U.S. President to set foot in North Korea. He met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. President Trump is willing to take a risk for peace—I appreciate that about him. 1/3
I’ve been to North Korea on several occasions, my father @BillyGraham went there; my brother has been there, and my mother actually went to high school there. This is a part of the world that I care a lot about. 2/3

Just starting on catch-up, but Pin re your turtles all the way down, I remembered it as something Bertrand Russell (the louse) had said, but the web gave me this: “William James, father of American psychology, tells of meeting an old lady who told him the Earth rested on the back of a huge turtle. "But, my dear lady", Professor James asked, as politely as possible, "what holds up the turtle?" "Ah", she said, "that's easy. He is standing on the back of another turtle." "Oh, I see", said Professor James, still being polite. "But would you be so good as to tell me what holds up the second turtle?" "It's no use, Professor", said the old lady, realizing he was trying to lead her into a logical trap. "It's turtles-turtles-turtles, all the way!”
