The NY Times notes the Democratic dance around Medicare for All and the possible elimination of private insurance.
But its what the Democrats all agree on that will really get them - the idea of free health care for all undocumented future Democrats when we have an obvious shortage of health providers for low-income US citizens? More crazy faster!
On the topic of immigration, Andrew Sullivan is excellent (either Sully is back from his Palin-fueled Alaskan wilderness journey or I have joined him.) Fareed Zakaria, a reliable lefty, is also concerned about his party's position.
BONUS QUERY - BLUE STATE BAILOUT?: Would the abolition of private insurance wipe out the obligation of various states on their health plans to public sector retirees and/or their current employees? One might think so but I have not checked the details of the Medicare For All plans or the state obligations to current and retired employees. That said, Connecticut, Illinois and New Jersey are on everyone's list of states Too Big To Fail, Too Blue To Succeed.
Of course, both public and private sector unions negotiated health benefits later in lieu of (unaffordable) pay increases immediately, so union support my be soft.
DO LET ME ADD: Just to pick Connecticut at random, state budget projections show health care expenses (current and retirees) of $1.5B in 2020, $1.6B in 2021.
Projected deficits are $1.9B in 2020 and $2.5B in 2021. Eliminating the health care expense is not a complete solution but every big bit helps.

Amazing, which leads to this...
"The finding is also important for researchers studying the origin of life, says Paul Mason, an astrobiologist at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
That’s because one of the puzzles in origin-of-life research is that Earth seems to have gone from prebiotic all the way to fairly complex microorganisms early in its history—a process that some scientists think required more time than had passed since the planet first became habitable. One idea, Mason says, is that life originated elsewhere, either in our solar system or farther afield. “Now that we know that Earth life can survive in space, it is certainly reasonable to think that it could have arrived on Earth from somewhere else,” he says."

Oho, ouch, my head hurts. Mathematically, "white holes" are as likely as "black holes." Since "black holes" exist, ergo "white holes."
But we have never found a "white hole." Do they derive from depleting "black holes?" Is that the only way they form?
Then, if when the "big bang" happened was it a "white hole" that can only be formed by a "black hole" which implies a time-line further back than the "big bang?"
I'm sure I'm not doing justice to the article so take a look for yourselves.
Posted by: jim nj | June 30, 2019 at 02:58 AM
PIN,
The only "conspiracy" against blacks acquiring wealth that I know of is called "welfare." Earn or save too much and you're thrown off it. There should be some kind of transition process to help people move off welfare by gradually, not abrupt;y, cutting benefits.
Blacks in the middle-class and above function financially the same as their white counterparts. They buy homes, keep up with the payments, save for emergencies, their kid's college and retirement.
China using Boko Haram? Not likely. Boko Haram is also known as Islamic State in West Africa. They may have some Chinese weapons from arms trade, bui they take their orders, if any, from ISIS.

The husband, wife, and infant had left a poor but comfortable home in El Salvador in hopes of getting asylum in the U.S.A., where they could get better-paying jobs. They'd both had jobs, don't seem to have been in serious want, and weren't under any kind of threats or persecution.
When they got to the U.S. border they were told they faced a long wait because of the surge of asylum-seekers.
They had Mexican visas that allowed them to work in Mexico for a year, so they could have waited it out, but decided to swim the river instead.
And so the man and child drowned.
AND IT'S ALL TRUMP'S FAULT.

SUGARCREEK, Ohio — The Sugarcreek Police Department --- A Sugarcreek Police Officer is recovering in an Akron hospital after being stabbed by a man during a traffic stop.
After being stabbed, 37-year-old Police Captain Brian Dalton shot and killed the male suspect. The incident took place around 10 a.m. Wednesday near TMK Farm Service in Tuscarawas County.
The motorist had reportedly driven through a no-trucks zone, damaging property. He allegedly stabbed Dalton in the neck with a screwdriver after the being told he would need to appear in court on a property damaging charge.
Police have identified the deceased male as Elijah Collins III, 32-years-old truck driver from High Point, N.C

Sounds like a recent "Blue Bloods" episode. Danny pulls into a gas station, sees something weird in the cashier's station he doesn't grasp, but his radar is up. Guy steps out of the gas station with a long bloody screwdriver.
Babbling nonsense he advances on Danny who repeatedly tells him to hold his distance. Danny has his gun out and the guy keeps advancing. Finally he lunges at Danny with the screwdriver held high in attack mode. Danny falling back shoots him twice in the torso and kills him.
Whether in film or reality, screwdrivers can be lethal weapons.
I am curious to know if the screwdriver was sharpened in any fashion.

Clarice pairing commentary on the Democrat debate and recent SCOTUS highlights the craziness that permeates our political and judicial institutions.
I can imagine the Roberts court to hold that Teh Won's EO's are sacred doctrine that supersede our Constitution. Obama acknowledged he had no legal authority to create DACA, he created it anyway, and now the SCOTUS is set to declare Obama's EO's as settled law. Right up there with Global Warming.

Did anyone else see Gordan Chang last night on Fox, before the NK arrival?
What he said was incredibly interesting to me. He believes that the one thing we don't get about NK is that both Kim, and his father's goal was to keep the people poor. Otherwise he believes he will lose his power. So these opportunities to make the country great are fairly unpersuasive.
The other thing that keeps coming up is what Obama did to Khadafi. He surrenders his weapons as asked and then he is murdered - by Hillary pretty much. So why on earth trust us?
What an interesting night.

Yes, lost in the whole kerfuffle over Biden and busing is that opposing it was the correct position. First, the feds had no business getting involved, and second, it was terrible policy. It also happened to be wildly unpopular. If I recall correctly, George Wallace actually won the Michigan Democratic primary in 1972 because the issue was so heated. But of course in the swamp of the current D party, to hold such a position is forbidden.
