This week, President @realdonaldtrump continues to prove his effectiveness as a world leader, and once again, the left-wing media can't stand it and has reverted to focusing on small, trivial stories in an attempt to distract from his success.

A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired.
As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation.
The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.
"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City , the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean ."
"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"
"So, tell me," says the twenty, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"
The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Methodist Church , the Baptist Church , the Lutheran Church ."
The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"

It's simple: Republicans want safety from crime, and Democrats want sanctuary for criminals. Democrats’ amnesty-for-all bill today is an embarrassment. It provides $0 to solve the humanitarian and security crisis at the border, yet costs $35 billion & grants amnesty to criminals.
Lou Dobbs is going nuts about some republican vote which will be a complete betrayal of Trump - anyone watching? Motivated by Chaber of Congress. I think it has to do with the border,
Ig: "it does seem a bit curious a guy [even a former AG] would just sit down and do the work necessary to produce one, unbidden."
Agree.
Maybe it wasn't unbidden that seems more of a white lie. "No one officially asked me to do it", but they made it clear unofficially.
And maybe he doesn't say anything about the work involved because some helpers drafted it.
If you're still here, I meant to post my 2¢ much earlier:
Make sure whoever is with you has a notepad and pen/pencil to write down anything the doctor/nurses say about how the surgery went, what to expect and any special instructions, because if you're like me most of what happens when you emerge from the surgical fog will remain pretty foggy. That included stuff I was told before the surgery too. In fact, I always take someone with me to take notes in pre-surgery appointments too.
If you're sent home with multiple medications for pain and/or other side effects, keep a notepad with your meds and write down what time you took what. My daughter started me off with a little chart she made. With something like 8 different post-op meds, (to be taken at seemingly different intervals!), I'd never have managed to track them accurately, if I hadn't been recording when I took them.
Can't imagine what it will be like to go in for surgery when the sun is up! It's great that relief is finally in sight.
In the larger pdf of responses, Barr notes that he bounced ideas off of lawyer friends before he decided to write the memo. In the smaller pdf of responses he notes the timeframe of talking to Cippolone and the Rankins in May.
His memo would have taken shape with input from selection of lawyers he bounced his ideas off of. Apparently his conversations led him to believe it was important enough to write the memo.
Jane: "Lou Dobbs is going nuts about some republican vote which will be a complete betrayal of Trump"
Back a while ago, there was some complaining to the effect "Trump's been in power for a couple of years ... where's the wall? What's up with the border?"
I have to say that I'm completely satisfied with his efforts to work around the Vichy Republicans and get work done on the Wall. And the Mexico Tariffs is a BIG deal. He may yet be dealt a crushing defeat but we all have to say that he was there for us.
And this is with the newer, stronger Repub Senate. Back in the bad old days of Flake and McCain ...
Barr is a very experienced lawyer, prosecutor, CIA employee, and ex-AG. He probably knows the Andrew Weismann's of this world like the back of his hand. Also, Mueller, his fellow Sunday School teacher, and incompetent former FBI director. If you are of the intellect and experience of Wm. Barr, it doesn't take much to figure out where this witch-hunt is going. He knows and the office cat knows there is no collusion. The only thing left to save face is obstruction and who has a track record on that narrow issue?
I think Barr saw this coming and possibly with some outside encouragement decided to pre-empt the Mueller/Weisman triumph and submit his argument.
He, to me, is a lot smarter than the Mueller crew, and he has now proven it.

"it does seem a bit curious a guy [even a former AG] would just sit down and do the work necessary to produce one, unbidden."
I haven't read the article so I probably shouldn't comment, but here's my best shot at making Barr's assertion string work. It's possible that Barr, knowing everyone involved, he understood exactly why Weissmann was Mueller's first hire and could easily have guessed exactly where he was heading. Maybe he was trying to hand Rosenstein a spine booster, or perhaps he was angling for the Atty Gen'l position or even prepping for it on spec. He had to figure he was on the short list, if he didn't already know for sure. What better subject in which to invest your time could there be?
That's about all I can come up with. Otherwise, it does seem slightly implausible.
Barr was a company analyst before he was atty general the first time, whereas Mueller was originally a back room apparatchik working for weld, who it turns out is following his family history fronting the big pro pot push with orange crush.
I’m sorry. The President has other important issues on his plate right now. Get back to us in a couple of months and we’ll see.
First of all, who knows what those nimrods were trying to do since anyone they showed those pics to were probably hauled away. Second, they've spent two and a half years making the one person who can help them out's life and job as difficult as possible.
Let them rot in whatever Hell the commies feel like.
You, friend, have a whole blog of friends cheering you on. Well, prayers help too. Just do as the nurse's tell you to do and in my experience, you end up with malts and shakes instead of tepid coffee:)
Just a note about how cool some doctors can be.
Have a friend who has a 40 year old son who has led a fairly reckless life. Can't stay off bikes but keeps crashing the dirt bikes. Worst one wasn't his fault and wasn't a dirt bike. Had a Harley on the street and some fool pulled out in front of him and he face planted and has a traumatic brain injury, which has left him fairly goofy.
But at some point he injured his lower spine also, whether cumulatively or not I don't know.
In any event, he can't work, has no insurance so his dad takes him to an orthopedic surgeon to get an evaluation.
Doc looks at the MRI and says "you need surgery".
Dad says "he has no insurance and I can't afford to pay for it".
Doc looks at MRI again and says "he has to have it. I'll do it for free".
One of his vertebra was hanging precariously off the one below and doc told pop afterward "if we hadn't operated he likely would have been paralyzed within a week".
Had to cost several hundred thousand; gratis.
Too bad there's no surgery for the TBI.
I didn't mean to say Barr's story was implausible, only curious, which I consider a lot different.
Who knows? Maybe he's tangled with Weisman before or was disgusted by the Arthur Anderson thing or simply knew the direction the thing was going, and as TK notes he talked to other lawyers who maybe felt the same way...
There are a lot of plausible reasons one could come up with, especially with a guy who seems to love this stuff and also seems to have a rather limited tolerance for bullshit, the market of which Mueller and company seemed to have cornered.
Nice story. I know Doc's who every year donate their surgeries to pro bono work. Wish there were more like that. Great for your friend to find one of those good guys. A lot of them are bike riders and you find them in Daytona every February for Bike Week.

Can you imagine Cryin’ Chuck Schumer saying out loud, for all to hear, that I am bluffing with respect to putting Tariffs on Mexico. What a Creep. He would rather have our Country fail with drugs & Immigration than give Republicans a win. But he gave Mexico bad advice, no bluff!
Thanx for all the tips. I can't change the header p but some of the others seem workable.
I'm with JiB, it was obvious to Barr where this was heading and he wanted to move it along sans weissman's outlandish legal theories. Anyone watching could see what was up with just a soupcon of DC legal experience.
He outsmarted Mueller time and again--that was the first check mate.
Buckeye, I have the same RN sister deal. 25 years in a major trauma center. Certifications out the yingyang. Treats docs with respect, but doesn’t take crap from them.
When friend or family is hospitalized, she’s there. Walks into nearly anywhere - ER, ICU, no matter - with a NFG attitude, politely but firmly asks some questions that serve to let the “authorities” know her bonafides, and that she’ll expect non-BS answers.
A joy to watch her work that way. Great asset to the family.

A talented surgeon saved my uncles life when he needed a bypass operation, he survived 13 more years, till that time when he would pass on. Like many in my family he was a heavy smoker that cautioned me to never take up the habit, even though it would have made me more popular in school
Had a friend have a tumor about an inch in diameter that was causing him your kind of sciatica taken off his spine last week, Buckeye.
Up and about the next day.
Had another friend who had seven discs done at once from both front and back. It's been a year but he has slowly gotten better and is in much better shape than when he started. He waited much too long to take care of his, but is still on the mend.

Posted by: Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki | June 04, 2019 at 08:29 PM
Doc looks at MRI again and says "he has to have it. I'll do it for free".
One of the most vile things the propaganda press has done in the last three decades is demonize health care in this country.
Posted by: Captain Hate | June 04, 2019 at 08:31 PM
Iggy,
Nice story. I know Doc's who every year donate their surgeries to pro bono work. Wish there were more like that. Great for your friend to find one of those good guys. A lot of them are bike riders and you find them in Daytona every February for Bike Week.
They may be Rolling Thunder for all I know.

While I assume Barr was telling the truth about his memo it does seem a bit curious a guy [even a former AG] would just sit down and do the work necessary to produce one, unbidden.
I don't find it that odd at all. I think the issue really got under his skin. As difficult as it is to imagine myself as a highly successful, ex-attorney-general lawyer, I can picture myself doing the same thing.

Back surgeries have been transformed in the last decade or two. Praying for total success and relief for you.
