Reagan biographer @CraigSBPA called @realDonaldTrump D-Day speech an A, better than Clinton or Bush. ‘Second only to Reagan’ he told @LarryOConnor @WMALDC

Marlene--after all the tears shed today over what we've conspicuously remembered, it is a kind of relief to tell you that I never had any real problem putting all my four children's stuffed animals in the washer, on normal, warm. Spray any particular stains first. Then set them out to dry--in the sun would be especially nice (this is how they treated Raggedy Ann at the beginning of her first adventure--bonus children's lit note, though in her case she'd been through the wringer, literally).
Pin, I've been forgetting to say I haven't read Colette. Actually, there's lots I haven't read. My only saving grace is that there's lots I have.
Ok, did my gutters yesterday, and the house is big and has up to 2 and a half stories, and we had baby maple trees yearning for life in every gutter, but I also found something completely new--piles of animal scat two stories up, with (excuse these gory details) the size midway between corgi and collie production. Raccoon? Possum? Foxes can climb trees but only about six-seven feet when pursuing prey. All the poop was way too large for squirrels. Any advice? No small human squatters--there's no way on the roof except the way I go, through the upstairs bathroom window (locked generally). I have a voicemail into the county extension people also.
Catsmeat, sounds like raccoon scat. They like roofs. Check your attic to make sure they haven’t found a way in. Like nice, they have flex rib cages and can fit small cracks (or vents on a roof). Nasty disease carrying critters.
Thanks, clarice and henry. The local extension people will probably help trap it and if not I will call "Bats to Rats," a private concern. If it was raccoon scat, it didn't seem to have the markers of the worms (those images were gross but educative!).
In a text message to POLITICO, Giuliani said he was not Flynn’s new lawyer. Dershowitz replied that he’s not representing Flynn. DiGenova in an email wrote, “We are not at liberty to discuss.”
The non-response is, of course, interesting, and fits with the rumor Miss Marple reported. If Flynn's plea deal is generous, as the article says, withdrawing from it is a risky gamble, considering the possibility of unrelated charges.
Lyle, at one point while still in Normandy, my grandfather’s aide found a chateau with caves filled with wine. Each bottle was marked with an “x” by the Germans. Fortified wine intended for the German officers. My grandfather relocated his HQ to that chateau, told the line guys where to find him (as in Bradley, Patton, etc), but may have missed telling Bedell Smith. Took Smith a week to find him and screw up the supply chain.
I was wondering if you have some of that “x” wine that you sample occasionally. ;)
OL, 5:27. Sure its a hypothetical not worth jawing over.
Let me say only: I am VERY comfortable with my position.
I'm certainly well aware of the factors you mention.
I don’t have any ‘x’ wine, henry...yet. Well, maybe a few, just not fortified. It’s more like I won’t pull a bottle for just anyone if they don’t have any idea what they’re drinking. cf. my sibs and in-laws...
If ever I get to meet more JOMbreros in person, I’d happily pull some good stuff.
But speaking of Normandy, I’d be curious what grapes were being grown in a chateau there. I don’t believe that would be Bordeaux. I’ll have to consult one of my wine books. Jack would probably know.
If you want to learn about the French, their wine industry, and how they protected during WWII, then I recommend this book. I read it when it first came out as it recommended by my SIL who is married to the Thienpont family who own Vieux Chateau Certan and Le Pin.
If any they are what are called "peasant or farmer" grapes. Normandy is Calvados and Cider country. Apple orchards abound. Many Calvados distillers are open for tasting and sales.
I think they are trying to bring back their viticulture but I don't remember seeing any vineyards of note last time there in 2009.
Lyle, I got the impression the German staff shipped good stuff in. There may have been local wine as well. It’s been over 40 years since I last heard that story... my grandfather told it over a martini and cigar, sitting in his recliner / rocker with his flags behind him (US & command) and decorations in a display case / side table. It was one of his favorite stories, and he always had s twinkle in his describing Smith’s conniption when he finally found the supply HQ for the European theater. Followed by hearty laughter.

In a key finding of the Mueller report, Ukrainian businessman Konstantin Kilimnik, who worked for Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, is tied to Russian intelligence.
But hundreds of pages of government documents — which Mueller possessed since 2018 — describe Kilimnik as a “sensitive” intelligence source for the U.S. State Department who informed on Ukrainian and Russian matters.
Why special counsel Robert Mueller’s team omitted that part of the Kilimnik narrative from their report and related court filings is not known. But the revelation of it comes as the accuracy of Mueller’s Russia conclusions face increased scrutiny.

I’d wear a Commie skin cap. Provided it involved enough dead commies to make. Wait, do they have to be dead to provide the pelt? Is flaying still no longer permissible in polite society?

lurkersusie,
A phenomenal sacrifice by your family. I will remember them all in my prayers.

Ute (vehicle) A ute (YOOT), originally an abbreviation for "utility" or "coupé utility", is a term used in Australia and New Zealand to describe vehicles with a tray behind the passenger compartment..
That was me. Unlike Marisa Tomei I didn’t win an Academy Award.

I think it's time to torch the Mueller report

CH, catch the story of the GS part owner who, while sitting courtside, shoved a Raptors player the other night?
$500K fine and one-year ban from the NBA and all team events. Rumor is he’ll be required to sell his share.

After weeks of confusion on where he stands, Joe Biden just endorsed unlimited taxpayer funding of abortion.
Biden should've just plagiarized his position from Planned Parenthood’s website from the start like he's been doing for his other policy positions.

Ronna's stepping up her Trumpian trolling!

Speaking of in-laws, my ASIL (the first letter stands for ‘annoying’) and my dear MIL are coming to dinner tomorrow night. Slow-cooked, bone-in chuck roast with veal reduction, garlic mashers, and a veggie to be named later for a third round draft pick. She’s the one married to the big shot attorney now working as COS for HHS. She thinks she knows more about wine than she actually does. She doesn’t get an ‘x’ bottle...

The solon is at the evelyn Murray level if coherence, without needing to be slapped.

Lyle, your ASIL can have my Tbird. Craft brew is plentiful everywhere. ;)

Less improbable than the Mueller report:

I picked up on that one, suzie, how did you family feel about such a valismy sacrifice, I think you once related it before.

That is one way to darken a hat, lurkersusie.

I’ll break out a decent Tuscan IGT, henry. After all, I’m drinking it. No aged Barolo, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Super Tuscan or high end California Cab.

Lyle, you need a trick double pour wine bottle. I think Penn & Teller could create it.

AB,
I put a link up about that @ 4:00 on the last page. All that money and so little sense. I wish ABC would fire that annoying turd, Jeff Van Gundy, who defended the clown; and dump Fatass Mark Jackson while they're at it.
Lots of people are saying KD won't play in the series.

Narciso, yes. He was a pilot on the Enterprise when Pearl Harbor got hit, led the first flight of US planes back to protect Hawaii, then developed night fighting, jets on air craft carriers, was Ike’s naval aide, and ended as head of anti submarine watergate, Pacific.
His younger brother was West Point ‘44S, Corp of engineers, then head of Naval Underwater Systems Labs.
I was slated to follow my grandfather and uncle at West Point as the third generation Henry, but events (honor code scandal).

Jane, I do have your email and will soon let you know a little more closely about when I'm coming.
The only military glory I have is a great grandfather who was a Rear Admiral under Dewey (with Dewey in Manila Bay, also in Panama and China with my grandmother as a baby, she having been born in 1899). My husband's father was in a bomber; his brother, that is, my husband's uncle, was the same in WWII--but shot down, just off the Belgian coast. The plane was only found this year. My FIL lived to 84--never a day went by without remembering his brother. So many sad stories!

I had not noticed this morning that President Macron went to help the American vets to stand when they were introduced. A nice touch.
