You do know that most hospitals will negotiate a haircut on services rendered, 30-40% as routine. I know of two 70+% haircuts, and I'll leave alone the forgiveness side of the equation.

Billing and buying are two very distinct functions within the building.

China is subsidizing its product in order that it can continue to be sold in the USA. Many firms are leaving China for other countries, including the United States, in order to avoid paying the Tariffs. No visible increase in costs or inflation, but U.S. is taking in Billions!

Most significantly, then-British national security adviser Sir Mark Lyall Grant claimed in the memo, hand-delivered to incoming U.S. national security adviser Mike Flynn’s team,

Wow— did firing Flynn interfere with that information being passed to Trump? That would be obstruction of justice, right?

Narciso79

So it would appear cathy f.

Nervous Nancy Pelosi is a disgrace to herself and her family for having made such a disgusting statement, especially since I was with foreign leaders overseas. There is no evidence for such a thing to have been said. Nervous Nancy & Dems are getting Zero work done in Congress,...

....and have no intention of doing anything other going on a fishing expedition to see if they can find anything on me - both illegal & unprecedented in U.S. history. There was no Collusion - Investigate the Investigators! Go to work on Drug Price Reductions & Infrastructure!

Tom R

Cathyf @ 12:57

The information from the Brits was given to Flynn before Trump was inaugurated. I assume in the 3-4 weeks after Trump took office before Flynn got fired he informed Trump about the memo.

MissMarple2

Just got a call from a friend who is having a garage sale tomorrow. She had a bunch of vintage cookbooks and wanted to know their value on eBay.

While I was looking one up she went to look for the date and found it was signed by both Julia Child and Paul Child! Worth on eBay: $65, so she decided to hold onto that one!

cathyf

Maybe— if Flynn appreciated the significance.

James D.

So we already knew Peggy Noonan is a flighty, addle-brained fool. She just goes right on proving it:

t all depends on Congress, which has been too stupid to move in the past and is too stupid to move competently now. That’s what’s slowed those of us who want reform, knowing how badly they’d do it.

Yet now I find myself thinking: I don’t care. Do it incompetently, but do something.

“Do it incompetently, but do something.”

That’s the motto of the Uniparty, right there.

D

From JamesD
“Do it incompetently”
That pretty much sums up the Obama administration.
They even messed up spying on the Trump campaign which they will pay for when they are prosecuted in the future.
Don’t know when that will be , but it is Friday again and still no indictments or arrests.
President Trump does things competently.
It is why the Left will not defeat him.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!
Make hay while the sun shines.
Enjoy life to the fullest.

Abadman

I'm not much of a businessman, I try to concentrate on seeing people.

I Do know hospitals will negotiate,I have a bipolar schizoaffective son and I have tried to help him in the past negotiate his medical bills

I also believe that hospitals will try to bill over what insurance negotiates to pay.

There was talk about physicians not charging for services a couple of days ago. I talked to my office manager about it once and she told me doing that would get me in Dutch with Medicare.

The government can make me take care of someone for free but I cannot chose to

My memory is a little foggy but I may have suggested a patient stiff me on their bill once or twice

No doubt behind the paywall, another good piece by Kim Strassel, with some blue on blue action:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-democrat-deflates-a-trump-scandal-11559862259

It's about the Twin Metals mining decision by the Obama administration, reversed by Trump.

The goal [of the green groups] is to gin up a scandal of the type activists used to run out other Trump appointees.

Enter Ms. Klobuchar. Or, at least enter an email she wrote to then-Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Dec. 16, 2016, the day after the leases were blocked. Government sources provided me this missive, in which a furious Ms. Klobuchar punctures the scandal narrative and skewers her own party for putting politics ahead of the law.

A step fwd in computer security? Or no?

"Apple has introduced a new privacy feature called Sign In with Apple, which will use AppleIDs rather than email addresses to verify credentials. All developers that use third-party sign-ins will be required to offer it as an option to users if they offer other third-party sign-ins, like Google and Facebook. Users who want to adopt the feature will be required to add two-factor authentication to their AppleID accounts. The feature is currently in limited beta"

henry

Jim Sunnyvale, is two factor authentication anything more than a way to get your cell number so they can sell lists to message spammers?

I’m kidding, sort of. But there will be a file with lots of confirmed digit for the Willie Suttons of the dark web to play with.

MissMarple2

clarice, D.,

I just read that headline about Ohr to a friend on the phone and she had the exact same opinion as D - that it was a payment for services rendered.

So, who authorized the bonus?

It was given in 2016 per the article.

More specifically FTA:The records do not indicate why Ohr was given the bonus in November 2016, though they show he also received a $14,520 bonus a year earlier, totaling $42,520 over a two-year period.

This is a very satisfying verdict and award, and one that Oberlin is definitely deserving of losing.

Libel, tortious interference with a business relationship, tortious interference with a contract, emotional distress.

This stems from the arrest of 3 black student shoplifters right after the 2016 election, and subsequent demonstrations, cancellation of business with the college, accusations of racism, etc.

More good news -
The University of Alabama's Board of Trustees has decided to return a $21.5 million gift from Hugh Culverhouse Jr. — the school's biggest donor — and take his name off its law school.

Culverhouse urged businesses and prospective students to boycott the university and the state over Alabama's new abortion law.

James D.

That’s wonderful news, MM!

Of course, it’s only a good first step. These verdicts need to come against individuals to really have an impact. When prog bureaucrats (and rabble rousing terrorist moron students) get hit personally with verdicts that wipe out their pensions, force them to sell their homes, cars and prized possessions, and cripple their families financially for generations to come, only then will we see them modify their behavior.

Jack,

The votes will come from others in the black community. However, the reason I supported Kushner's idea wasn't for the votes.

Those men were in there because Bill Clinton signed that bill to make himself look good. They were called predators and such, and it was done simply for Clinton and the dems to look tough on crime.

Many of these guys have not been able to visit sick and dying parents, have missed seeing their kids grow up, and have lost all sorts of opportunities.

It is my understanding they are going to get job training, too, so that they can support themselves and maybe their families.

Yes, we've heard from Buckeye

Jack is Back!

Well, TomR, like many of your suspicions and opinions on this you are wrong. I knew Chuck and he dismissed anyone on his team who was a pessimist or unwilling to deal with the situation you were confronting. You have no idea how wrong your are but then that is your MO.

Piece of advice: Deal with what you know not what you think you know and everyone here will have more respect of your opinion.

And Chuck wasn't a dickheaed. He was a realist. He would be here on The Ledge telling why this year will be the Brown's year.

Jack is Back!

Correction: Chuck dismissed those who would go into a game or play without feeling they could win and recognize the fact of the opposition. Hoping is unrealistic optimism in his opinion. You are either committed or not. Hope has nothing to do with how you play, win or lose.

MissMarple2

Well, after that amazing trip to the UK, Ireland, and France, along with that stellar reading of FDR's prayer and the magnificent speech he gave, I figure President Trump knows what he's doing.

Look at all of the stuff which has come out over the last few days about the Mueller report! Mexico is starting to fall into line. We discover the Ohrs got payoffs.

So, I am content here on the Verandah. The weather is nice and I am going to have a glass of beer. You guys can enjoy your Grey Goose up on The Ledge, but I don't need anything that strong. LOL!

Tom R

I knew Chuck and he dismissed anyone on his team who was a pessimist

You got it right the first time around. Eeyores are not conducive to winning. Those of us on the Verandah feel the MAGA agenda is going to win and are committed to supporting Trump. Hope comes in handy when facing adversity and knowing you can overcome it. The Eeyores fail horribly there.

I certainly do MM. Terrible day. About 10:30 Kiwi had a complete meltdown. She has a collapsed trachia, and when she gets nervous she breathes heavily and then can't breathe. It went on for 5.5 hours. I can't believe her heart lasted that long.

She is so exhausted at this point. It's not her first incident - the first one was when I was traveling, but if this keeps up I can't leave her in that much pain. I'm going to up her medication and try some dog CBD. (Who knew?)

She still has a hard time walking because her body was limp for so long. But she's right here next to me, snoring. Gawd I love my pup.

If the likes of Comey, Brennan, Rice, Powers, et.al. don't get indicted or even serve one day in jail for an act of Sedition then my time on The Ledge was not well spent but disappointingly spent.

Scientific Reports is publishing the results of the study led by scientists at Emory University. (link below)

The tested 2 trees - the white oak and the tulip poplar and a thorny bush with the common name Devil's Walking Stick.

We have all 3 of these growing in our woods. We have a poplar tree that my son measured and recorded for a botany project in high school. It was 134' tall and estimated to be 149 years old. It started growing around 1856 when Franklin Pierce was President. So...it could have been used for medicinal purposes during the Civil War. Here are 2 photos:
