Acosta has stepped down as SecLab.
NY Mag finds hedge fund managers who don't think Epstein managed a real hedge fund. Their guess: he blackmailed his clients. Well, call it 'blackmail-lite' - investors pay Epstein, say, 2% per year and he puts the money in Treasuries and index funds. Epstein raises $1 billion, pockets $20 million a year, lives the life. If the fees are higher but the clients are paying for regular access to the young ladies, well, more money for Epstein. Of course, that is a lot less like blackmail and a lot more like a disguised fee for service. This theory also works with the idea that Epstein was pals with some wealthy Saudis and was shaking down the sheiks for cash and intelligence (hence Epstein's ownership by US intel), as reportedly claimed by Acosta during his Trump transition interviews).
A waving red flag that libs are worried about just who was being protected is this ludicrously framed article by Dahlia Lithwick at Slate:
How Alex Acosta Got Away With It for So Long
Acosta got away with it? What was in it for him? And why (as Ms. Lithwick eventually acknowledges in the hundredth paragraph) were so many other of the high and mighty also abetting Epstein? Why, for example, did Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance go easy on Epstein? Acosta's reach extended that far? Please.
The real question is why did the system protect Epstein. And on that point, I have yet to see any reporting describing the prosecutor's case files down in the Southern District of Florida. Unless the DoJ is unique in the history of bureaucracies, I expect there is surviving paperwork documenting the charging decision. The Miami Herald, in their exhaustive Epstein investigation, claimed access to other documents but nothing from the SD FL (my emphasis):
Not only would Epstein serve just 13 months in the county jail, but the deal — called a non-prosecution agreement — essentially shut down an ongoing FBI probe into whether there were more victims and other powerful people who took part in Epstein’s sex crimes, according to a Miami Herald examination of thousands of emails, court documents and FBI records.
There is also the odd aspect that the plea agreement bars pursuit of Epstein's co-conspirators. Isn't that a bit of clue that maybe the point was to protect people other than Epstein?
Well. My Frequently Unasked Questions: Would there normally be contemporaneous DoJ paperwork on a typical case? Is there paperwork for the Epstein case or did the dog eat it? If there is paperwork, shouldn't the DoJ Inspector General and Congressional overseers have access to it?
We heard Acosta's rationalizations on Wednesday, but is there contemporaneous support for it? Or some other explanation, such as a note citing a senior DoJ official telling Acosta that the intelligence community has asked them to back away?
Where are the leaks??? Or is this a situation where the usual media suspects have been advised that "I'd tell you but then you'd want to kill yourself"?
But they've convicted tommie Robinson so:

There are enough leftists who’ve talked openly about reducing the population to that level.
I imagine you could also find language abut that in some of the horrible things rse finds and pores through.

fdcol63,
The way I see it, it's a flat-out battle between good and evil. The rampant pedophilia is a sure sign, as well as citizens selling their own nations out for money and power.
So (and I am used to being scorned over this attitude) I honestly believe Trump is heroic. He sacrificed a lavish lifestyle and public adulation to run for office and go about doing his best to save this country. In doing so, he has risked his life, his family, and his business.
And he is doing so, keeping as many promises as he is able (and a damn sight more than we have seen any president do within my memory).
He believed in this enough to get his family to enlist, to get the support of Mike Pence (who, although not the most silver-tongued of orators, was a righteous governor in my state) and to get the support of Jerry Falwell, Franklin Graham, and that group of black pastors.
He tweeted about pedophiles way back in 2011 or 2012. He has stood against abortion. He has convinced the Saudis to relax their restrictions on women (not as fast as Americans would like, but it's a start). He recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Having been so disappointed in so many politicians over the years, I firmly believe this man will be one day recognized as a great man, as great as Washington or Lincoln.
I also believe that he may be supported by God, which may sound nutty, but how else to explain his success?
Anyway, that is my personal opinion. No one has to agree with me, but I hope in reading this post, people will get a little more hope in their hearts.

Good post. Just so you know I don't think everyone on the Ledge is a doom and glooming Eeyore. If I ever take issue with something you write I will quote you directly so there is no confusion.
BTW one of the few benefits of getting a Poli Sci degree in the 80s when the Cold War with the Soviets was still in progress AND at a university that wasn't under the control of Cultural Marxist professors is that I learned a lot in the History of Communism class. The professor for that class was a staunch anti-Communist and spent a lot of time discussing the history of Communism in the US. I took this class after Yuri Bezmenov had defected and revealed all of the subversive tactics that the KGB was using against the US. His videos are on YouTube if you haven't seen them.
I point that out to you only so that you know you are preaching to the choir when it comes to understanding the vastness of the enemy/problem.

We already have hope in our hearts.
I speak for myself when I say we can’t put all of this transformation and cleaning up the Deep State Swamp on President Trump alone.
When something being done like the census, is hobbled by judges and dishonest Dems we have to have A Plan B revealed by the President yesterday and which I applauded.
However Paul Ryan was correct when-he stated coming in from the business world Trump did not have a full knowledge of government. Ryan helped him for as long as he could becausequite frankly Trump can be a tough boss.
I read the president’s tweets today and the responses from readers.
About 50/50 pro and con,
I find this behavior on his part unhelpful but accept it as his modus operandi.
I would remind ourpresidrnt that Paul Ryan got him the tax cuts which are now helping the overall economy and Salk Americans.
Heroic?
No just a goidpresident.
On a scale of Lincoln?
Not even close.
His legacy will be a good one.
History will be kind to his years as president.

However, my greatest fear is that they ... unlike previous generations ... are so much more ignorant of American history and our Founding, and have been SOOO indoctrinated to doubt and even be hostile to the notion that America is an exceptional nation and better than most, that when the foundations of their current belief systems have been yanked from under their feet that they will then fall ... and believe .... and place their trust in .... another form of government that is even worse.
Yes, that is the great fear, but then I live in the land of the crazy people. I look around at how many GOOD people there are, living their lives, coaching the teams, returning the found wallet, and playing cute games with the lost stuffed animal at the airport, stepping up to help out every time, volunteering for whatever whenever, and always asking, "How can I help?" and I am optimistic. Because even in the land of the crazy people, when the shit goes down, plenty of people, no matter what demographic, stop and help.
How can one not be hopeful about a people that still asks, "How can I help?"
And I sometimes think our great divide in this nation is really about how we offer help and who gets to determine what constitutes that help.
But that's just me.

On its website, Acxiom claims it has collected information from almost every adult in the United States.
“Acxiom provides clients with access to 2.5 billion customers and two-thirds of the world’s population,” states a promotional video on Acxiom’s website, which claims the company has a client list that includes banks, automakers and department stores.

The storm clouds are gathering, aren't they? The Trump Admin continues to inspire confidence, doesn't it? Faith, patience and vigilance reigns supreme!
