Here we go again. Trump and Pelosi versus AOC! Do you bet on youth and energy or experience and numbers?
I remain shocked (in a totally non-shocked way) that Dem "strategists" seem to be seeking a progressive Presidential candidate whose coattails should let them sweep Congressional districts in Brooklyn, Manhattan, San Francisco and a few other urban enclaves while losing most of the country.
Do they understand "swing districts"? Do they understand that winning Brooklyn with 85% of the vote doesn't send more people to Congress than winning with a mere 75%?
The roster of nervous libs is expanding. Matt Yglesias tried to explain the benefits of moderation. With science AND studies, since common sense has left the building.
Jon Chait joined in on July 3, which may have gotten him even more readership than a full burial at sea on July 4.
Kevin Drum wonders if the Democrats are now the party of open borders and makes a courageous admission:
I have previously criticized Republicans who accused liberals of wanting “open borders.” President Trump tweets about this endlessly. But I have to admit that it’s hard to see much daylight between Warren’s plan and de facto open borders.
Well, yeah.
I'm sticking with my current theory: With her race and gender, Kamala Harris gets a bit of an automatic progressive pass so she is under less pressure to go Full Crazy. That should help! However, as a Hothouse California Dem who may have never met an actual conservative, she seems to be hazy as to just how crazy her party is. Hence her waffling and walkbacks on Medicare for All and her support, or nostalgia, or something for forced busing.
I'm old enough to remember 1984, when Walter Mondale was lefty enough to be dubbed the Pander Bear and Reagan carried 49 states. That led to the Democratic Leadership Council and a moderate revolt which culminated in Clinton '92. Or go back to lefty McGovern in '72, when Nixon carried 49 states. Carter ran as a moderate in '76 and away he went.
So far 2020 looks more like 1972 or 1984 but these pendulums keep on swingin'.

Good point. Carter and Clinton used their southern accents and church-going to give the impression of moderation.
When we really look at their actions, it's not quite as presented, is it?

Biden was confronted by protesters yesterday, shouting at him about the deportations during the Obama administration. "Movimiento Cosecha" is another group to add to the list of leftist protesters.
I don't think they will moderate either and Biden will be more confused and be mumbling "c'mon man"more often. :)

Seems like the governor of Puerto Rico was left out of the round up last week. It could be that it would be expensive for the Feds to fetch him while he’s on vacation in the south of France, but I’m going to go with a different tack. The Feds wanted to know to whom he’d chat with afterwards, since they already knew he would:

The year after he got out of prison, Katie Couric, Chelsea Handler and George Stephanopoulos came to his Manhattan mansion to dine with a British royal. And in 2011, he was photographed at a “billionaire’s dinner” attended by Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.

With more things like Epstein coming out, it is more and more obvious why the dems hate Trump. He's clean and they are dirty. That's been my theory from early on.

What is true is the police-to-moron ratio will be low, so the local opposition will feel less “constrained” to respond in kind, which is exactly why it won’t happen. The lefty thugs are fundamentally cowards.

Indeed on south ridge and Mayfair. Both in Milwaukee County. Nothing new there. Add the state fair to the zone of troubles, and Summerfest’s main entrance. It has been calmer lately, but import some crazies and who knows.
As far as farm response. If they start harming cows (those farting threats to the planet), all bets are off.
Rural mischief is more likely a bus load or two down highway 11 in union grove. (Repeating ‘11 intimidation). Police would deal with that.

Went to our little yacht club for dinner last night which we generally only do about once a month. Ended up chatting with one of our pals (a couple) in the bar and started talking about all the Epstein nonsense. So the wife of the couple starts telling a story. Turns out her first husband was a mover/shaker type with both a G-II and a G-4! As with most of those players he offered rides for various bigshots and certainly was not too biased on which side of the political spectrum just to keep his options open. Now, a second element: a lady who acted as a flight attendant on these company planes was key to everyone's comfort on these flights. She was apparently a plain woman, who sort of disappeared in the small groups, but spoke five languages and was very sharp.
So, one day the boss (the ex) offered a ride to some young governor and his entourage. After the trip, the attendant told the boss to never offer them a ride again!
You guessed it, the Clintoons. She said they spent the whole time slamming their adversaries and scheming on how to fuck them over. Totally disgusting mob.

Ugh,the Clintons. I think I mentioned this a few years ago. We rented a house in Florida for three months before buying a place.Hubby took a flight back to Maine to work in the office for a week. The connection was in Philly. The man sitting next to him was from Scranton. They started talking politics. The man's friend owned a restaurant where the funeral reception for Hillary's father was held.
In our world, the family pays the expenses. Hillary and her brothers stiffed the restaurant owner and eventually the DNC paid the bill.
They are horrible people.

I was listening to a talk radio show in the car one day and heard a caller from Concord MA call in and tell the host that one of the two Dunkin's in Concord has a sign on the front door that says, "coffee served in fine china when requested." Having a close friend from Concord, I couldn't wait to ask him if Dunkin's coffee tastes better when served in fine china rather than the styrafoam cups that us peasants have to suffer. He didn't believe me so we took a trip and sure enough, the sign was there.

MissM posted this on the last thread and a link on that page describes Epstein's shady dealings with African dictators.

Of course it's no surprise that Hillary and African dictators raped Africa too.

First time Wilbur Ross is mentioned, where were his exposes on Epstein at the time.

We have a real problem with anti-vaxxers here in California. I decided to go to the farmer's market near UC Irvine this morning an there were a couple of hundred of them completely misrepresenting the medicine behind their claims.
They were basically a lot of soccer moms and what we call in the mental health bidness transitional aged youths. Well meaning, but clueless.
My stepson got his MMR or whatever it is when he was 2 over 25 years ago and is autistic. But I also believe there is a genetic predisposition that one of the vaccines may set off. But all of the many studies are conclusive, so how does one argue with the science?
When I say the whole world is going crazy, maybe there is some truth to that.

He hasn't been one in more than 30 years, that's not truth in labeling.
