The express lane drama is Georgia is grinding towards the conclusion predicted by many - a Jussie Smollett fan seems to have fabricated a hate incident. Eventually lipreaders will chime in on the in-store video (no audio). At about the 28 second mark, Erica Thomas is clearly saying something, perhaps repeatedly. Couch potato sports fans have gotten good at spotting the f-bomb, so I'll guess that she is saying something else.
SINCE YOU ASK: The JustOneMinute Handbook is clear on the issue of accosting women (especially pregnant women) in supermarkets to point out picayune problems - DON'T. C'mon, what would Clint Eastwood do? ("If it's not worth shooting them it's not worth hassling them" isn't EXACTLY the answer I'm looking for, but close...)
That said, the Handbook is not supportive of making up self-promotional BS to promote that maligns others.

In today’s environment, companies are staying private longer and longer. I believe this is because of increased regulatory burden, shareholder activists, the short-term mentality of the public market where leaders are managing quarter-to-quarter as opposed to three or five years out, and the availability of private funding.

Sandy, do you have more than ten items in your cart? That twelve pack doesn't count as one item. :/
Posted by: henry | July 25, 2019 at 12:04 PM
As such, our government must look at regulation, complexity of tax policies, and shareholder activities through the eyes of a private company. Sarbanes-Oxley and the current standalone considerations on privacy and security legislation, for example, are too focused on the missteps of the large companies; when small companies implement the same processes, the expenses are prohibitive, dramatically reducing their ability to grow and create new jobs.

The best way to address pretty much any economic or societal problem is to get the government the eff out of it, since it's an iron-clad guarantee that government policies (created by credentialled elite experts) either created it or made it worse.

I meant to comment on rocco's post re: prison injuries and suicides from the previous post.
It certainly seems like we have a system that does a great job with punishment and creating misery, but isn't very hot on doing much to increase the chance that prisoners will be productive and law abiding citizens after they're released.
I don't know what the answer is, but I don't think it's what we have now.
Honestly, I'd rather see a lot less people in prison, and more widespread use of the death penalty. If we as a society truly believe that someone can't ever be allowed back on the streets, I don't see any benefit to anyone - including the criminal - of locking them up for several decades. Just shoot them and be done with it.

I haven't tracked calories, and I'm only a beginner measured in weeks not months on the diet.
But it has certainly been my experience that with the meat and cheese protein in the diet I feel either no hunger or a minimal, barely noticeable, gnawing feeling. I rarely need a breakfast, for example. I can easily get by on 2 meals a day. Makes weight loss a gimme.

Jim (and Ext).
Since I was charting carbs closely, it was easy to add a column for calories too. There is absolutely no doubt that my cals were way down too. I was "controlling" portions for carb management, and the calories just followed suit.
So I don't know the what or the why...I just know I am healthier and more fit than I can recall, and that I am never hungry like before.
As my Doc said when the tests came back "Well, with those numbers, what's not to like about being 25# lighter than this week last year?"

So I would make the argument (to be sure, via arm waving) that
1) you are motivated enough to go on the diet
2) with minimal will power and no hunger pangs your portion control is effortless
Anyone can forcibly over-eat, binge on desserts, etc etc
But if you are already being mindful and you don't feel hunger, it's trivial to eat sensible amounts.

Jim @ 12:25
Here is my problem with that theory. Pretty much every single Democrats asked leading questions that stipulated it was beyond a doubt that Trump was guilty of something. With one exception Mueller refused to accept their mischaracterization of the facts. The one exception is when he agreed with something Ted Lieu said. During the lunch break he made it clear that he misspoke and he changed his answer.
In other words, IMO there was no evidence yesterday that Mueller and the Democrats rehearsed scripted questions.

Nolte explicitly takes the position that Mueller isn't senile. It was in the title of his oped. He made it emphatically clear later:
I didn’t see senility or fragility or confusion or old age or anything close to doddering.
What I saw was a guilty man forced to take the stand against his will, a guilty man who fought like hell to never appear for a cross examination. Why? Because he’s guilty. And because the facts are not on his side, because he cannot explain his behavior, because he cannot justify what he’s done, he has only one choice and that’s to stall — to ask for questions to be repeated, to pretend he doesn’t understand, to run out the clock, and when that fails, he simply refuses to answer any question (take the Fifth!) that will confirm his guilt.
Your response to Extraneus was "Bingo Nolte". Now you say I was wrong to assume you agreed with Nolte's main point? That doesn't jive.
Second you have a disconcerting method of asking a foundational question that is leading somewhere you choose not to disclose like Hamilton Burger often did. I object.
You are 100% correct. I do have a point to make but I wanted to first make sure that you and Extraneus were in agreement with Nolte. BTW for the record I agree with Nolte as well. I don't think Mueller is suffering from senility or any other cognitive impairment.

Did Barr bring back execution specifically for traitors or is he trying to scare everybody like corrupt governors and drug kingpins?

If that’s true illegals don’t need DL’s. They aren’t driving, they’re traveling.
Sovereign Citizens are big into squatting as well. This makes perfect sense.

Marlene could be my 70-ish sister in law.

I hit a string of great comments at your link, Mr Pin.
I assume there are bleeding heart liberals if you read deep enough, but I didn't see any.

Marlene, Anti-Biz Markey is so out of touch with reality, he thought that yesterday's spectacle underscored the need to proceed with impeachment.

Pinandpuller,
The first 5 are child murderers.
Remember that guy on Twitter who said they should search Epstein's island with cadaver dogs? I also think his New Mexico ranch and that New York mansion, too.
Anyone who lines his entry hall with framed, real human eyeballs is not playing with a full deck. And dealing in the amount of child trafficking and rape that is suspected, I would bet some died or got killed trying to escape.
I no longer think that any of this stuff is by accident. The press release from the DOJ made a point of it being all child murderers.
I am ok with executions for treason as well, but this is the one which gets approval from the average folks first.

OLD VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm
and well fed. The grasshopper has
no food or shelter, so he
dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:
Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving. CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned and enraged by the sharp contrast. How can this be that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper
is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green"
"Occupy the Anthill" stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing. "We shall overcome." Then Reverend Al Sharpton has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper while he damns the ant. He later appears on MSNBC to complain that rich people do not care.
Former President Obama condemns the ant and blames Donald Trump, President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight.
Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer exclaim in an interview on The View that the ant has been made rich off the back of the grasshopper and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.
Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & anti-Grasshopper retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having; nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in,you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous neighborhood.
