Pin, you know me. You've broken bread with me, you've had cold beer with me!!!
You had fried chicken and a nice warm place to sleep at my home!!!

CAPSLOCK is what made me ME. Oh yes, I sewed some wild CAPS LOCK......back.....IN THE DAY.

GUS

Narciso, what kind of CARBON foot print does a SKY DRAGON have??

MissMarple2

Rocco,

My sister-in-law's brother was an Indianapolis policeman who was shot and killed when trying to arrest a nut case guy back in the 80's.

I don't think she ever got over it, really. we went to the funeral which was huge - he was a young guy, newly married.

The murderer was a part-time Catholic school teacher and the paper tried to gin up support for him, like he was really the victim. It was despicable.

Rocco

Sorry, I thought that picture would come right up but you'll have to scroll a bit to Jan. 25, 2017 to see my son training.

GUS

MissM, one of my very dearest friends, married Mrs Gus's college room mate. Our families are as close as could be. Their 2 children are a couple years older than GUS JR, and are very very close friends, with him.
My pal, Mark, had an Uncle who was shot and killed in the HOOD, as a Milwaukee Police Officer, back in MY high school days. His partner was murdered too.
I remember it like it was yesterday. My pal Mark is younger than me, and I did not know him when his Dad's brother was shot and killed. However, when we became friends, he was surprised to find out, that I knew of his Uncle. He was a kid when his Uncle was shot and killed as a ROOKIE MILWAUKEE COP. I remembered, and knew the story.
I never even imagined back then, that my 2 little brothers, would be heroes to me in future. But like being a Patriotic American, INSTINCTUALLY, I always cared, and LOVED those who took care of US. Military included.

I may have even had cold chicken and warm beer at a certain point.

Ig’s Mayo Clinic article: ANSWER: No scientific evidence exists to show that eliminating dietary lectins will cure any medical disorders or conditions, including autoimmune diseases. But your diet certainly can have an effect on the way you feel, especially if you have a chronic condition. If you have a medical concern triggering symptoms that seem to be related to the foods you eat, consider talking with a registered dietitian, who can review your diet and offer suggestions for modifying it in a way that may help ease your symptoms.

There ain’t much difference between Ig and Anonamom on this since the Mayo clinic suggests that lectins can trigger responses and Mayo went too far to suggest anything about curing illnesses. Curing is not at issue, alleviating the circumstance is the significant point.

Joe was a great guy. He got heavy and had health issues, but he was a really good business man. I don't know exactly where the cash came from, but JOE, made an empire in Milwaukee.
Paul owned a couple of high end restaurants in CHICAGO, then parlayed that into the BARTOLOTTA RISTORANTE, in the WYNN CASINO in VEGAS.

Thinking about TK.

I don't know how TK fouled up on the ladder, but I know that 5 years ago, at 60, i forgot that I wasn't as young as I used to be.

I locked myself out of my first floor apartment. No problem thought I. The balcony door is open and I can climb up there. It's only about 10 feet above ground level.

Found a six foot length of 2x4. Propped it at an angle against the wall and duck walked up it until I had one foot on top.

Reached for the balcony and the 2x4 rapidly slid out from under me. Landed on my back. Knocked the wind out of me and an almost silent groan came out of my mouth.

Nothing broken, other than my pride, and the realization that I was getting too old for such stunts.

Rang my super's bell and he let me in. Should have done that in the first place. I ached for weeks after.

Long, but interesting. I have noticed this in movies that use panning shots. They seem to stutter on TV, which is disconcerting, as they move over a screen. The rest of the film, when not panning look fine.

The odd thing is that while the stutter is disconcerting to the eye it gives the impression of action unfolding so rapidly that it can't be captured.

I'm not sure that movies need to be "fixed" with non-original interpolated images.

Like me and mr narciso earlier tonight, Politifact judges me and jim as: Both Right.

The last time Brad Thor talked publicly about Donald Trump, he got nationally syndicated radio host Glenn Beck suspended from Sirius/XM for a week.

But that was May, and this is August—a little more than 80 days away from the possibility of being forced to say "President-elect Hillary Clinton"—and that alone has a way of changing some people's point of view. In perhaps one of the most difficult pieces the bestselling author has ever written, Thor announced on Tuesday he'd had a change of heart about the Republican presidential nominee.

But, he never mentioned Trump specifically by name, other than to admit he had been—up to that time—a devoted "#NeverTrump stalwart." Instead, he wrote that "America has cancer," it has only three months to live, and there are only two options to choose:

I closed it out guys, for real this time.

"On April 21, 2018, Thor announced his candidacy for President of the United States in the 2020 election. On July 5, 2018, Thor decided against running and left the Republican Party, becoming an Independent, citing frustration with the GOP-controlled Congress and President Donald Trump."

Maybe he is a wuss, but his writing never seemed to reflect that.

I don't think curve-balls curve. As I understand it they dip below the expected trajectory. Sometimes dramatically so.

The knuckle-ball was said to have no spin imparted on it so the air might move it around because of the seams on the ball. Without the spin it was a lot slower pitch.

Nowadays, the primary strength of pitchers is "heat" the fastball. Maybe even in the past, but if you could master a second or third pitch you had unpredictability on your side.

My last comment on the subject [thousands cheered];
Mayo clinic on lectins.

Mine too:

Mayo Clinic: the people who helped bring you the obesity epidemic.
And talk about selling--they are the world's experts on selling themself.
Worked on you. Ex too.

Don't discourage ill people from finding optimal health because of what you find of be "outlandish" claims. When I was a student, they--Mayo Clinic included --were treating ulcers with surgery--cutting people from sternum to umbilicus to do so. It was beyond outlandish then to think that a bacteria caused them. Even more outlandish to think not eating processed carbohydrates would cause that bacteria to virtually disappear.
There was no science behind that then--but someone who listened to the guy who thought that, stopped eating those "healthy " grains, could get rid of the ulcers, without enduring what was basically sham surgery.

Maybe why I am more likely to be open to innovative thinking that challenges convention. Outlandish even.

And for the record, there's almost no science behind any diet recommendations. There can't be--too many variables. It's just observational stuff, based on the vague recollections of people. You know that, if you've read anything about intermittent fasting---which for EONS has been said to be BAD for weight loss. Three meals a day---graze---No. "Shut the pie hole" is fine. Better than fine--effective for lots of people. You.
Some people are doing it weeks and months without any of dire consequences that have been predicted forever.
I would be surprised if ten per cent of practicing physicians would make that recommendation to their obese patients this week.

Mayo Clinic would have recommend a low fat diet probably as recently as five, if not less, years ago.
They still are recommending those "healthy " grains to diabetics.

I am not waiting the twenty or thirty years it takes mainstream medicine to get on board. And I have no qualms whatsoever in recommending Gundry's book --which I am guessing you have not read for yourself, though I think it would be impossible for you to have an untainted evaluation of it at this point in time---to anyone with symptoms of inflammation that are bothering them--for them to read, and decide for themselves whether a totally benign change in their diet will improve their health.

Ask yourself why these people--and you-- are so invested in fighting Gundry?

Ten years ago they were screaming about "paleo" or "keto." Disparaging Taubes--a reviewer, basically!
The food wars have been epic.

They are protecting what they perceive to be "their "turf," their "expertise," which has been thoroughly discredited.

At least two of the four guys who are in the cardiologist's article are life long "nutrition scientists" who were lifelong low fat advocates, with the Campbell fellow recently having to retract studies after ethic reviews. Willet from Harvard has had much of his lifetime's "work" questioned lately because of his relationship with Big Sugar.

Knowing the players, their opinions, like Mayo Clinic's, do not hold much credibility for me.

Hey, don't rope me into this. All I did was cite an article I thought might be of interest to the people here who like to talk about nutrition. (I'm not one of those, if you hadn't noticed.) The article cited Mayo, so I clicked the link and pasted the Mayo claims. I have no opinion on the Mayo claims.

As for my own opinion, I haven't seen any data to show that weight loss isn't simply the result of a reduction in calories. Is there data that indicates an increased daily caloric intake, with or without carbs, results in weight loss?

Anecdotally, my brother lost 50 lbs on a low-fat, high carb diet. Then he went on a low-carb, high-fat diet and gained it all back plus more. This led me to be skeptical about the keto theory and makes me wonder if the success that people here have achieved isn't simply due to the keto foods being more satisfying than carbs, and thus that the keto diet has led them to a reduction in avg daily calories.

As I say, I'm not too interested in the subject, but I'd be interested to see data showing an increase in daily calories can result in weight loss.

Good Morning, Strassel's right, this sham of an investigation was a cover-up. But I say it goes back further, to 2009 when Victoria Toensing's client turned whistle blower, was solicited by Mikerin. The whistle blower was so concerned he contacted Mueller's FBI.

At the time this unidentified man became an informant, the FBI was led by director Robert Mueller, who is now the special counsel investigating whether Trump colluded with Russia. The investigation was centered in Maryland (Tenam’s home base). There, the U.S. attorney was Obama appointee Rod Rosenstein — now President Trump’s deputy attorney general, and the man who appointed Mueller as special counsel to investigate Trump.

And a couple of paragraphs later we find out who was running the whole show...the third amigo, Andrew Weissmann.

Interestingly, as the plea agreement shows, the Obama DOJ’s Fraud Section was then run by Andrew Weissmann, who is now one of the top prosecutors in Robert Mueller’s ongoing special-counsel investigation of suspected Trump collusion with Russia.

And why was it so important to bury Mikerin's sweetheart plea agreement?

Still, a lid needed to be kept on the case. It would have made for an epic Obama administration scandal, and a body blow to Hillary Clinton’s presidential hopes, if in the midst of Russia’s 2014 aggression, public attention had been drawn to the failure, four years earlier, to prosecute a national-security case in order to protect Russia’s takeover of U.S. nuclear assets.

The Obama administration needed to make this case go away — without a public trial if at all possible.

The Three Amigos, Weissmann, Mueller and Rosenstein were covering for Obama and Hillary for selling Russia 20% of our uranium.

We can't forget this part.
