Rich Lowry takes on the NY Times 1619 production, which explained that the US revolution was motivated by a desire to avoid the British abolitionists. He has them outnumbered.
Frequently Unasked Questions: This NY Times 1619 project has a broad scope and its mission is to show that America was founded on slavery, built by slaves and remains hideously racist today. My queston - what is the involvement of Times editor Sarah Jeong, who quite famously hates white people (but its OK, because progressive reasons.)

No tuition because his father and I teach there, though he'll probably get a Regents which is a four-year scholarship that does the same thing.

By the way, since there has been college admission discussion, Tucker Carlson discussed favorable admission to the Ivies on his show. This link has the transcript of his comments, which, if I had a kid who was a good student, would be infuriating to me:
https://trendingpolitics.com/tucker-carlson-reveals-scandal-that-could-bring-down-barack-obama/
The dems inn Congress have been using their ability to allocate money to universities to get their kids admitted ito prestigious universities. In my opinion, this makes a mockery of the effort kids make taking advanced classes, working on getting good SAT scores, extra-curricular activities, etc. All of Al Gore's 4 children getting into Harvard is simply ridiculous.

The common connection between what MM's daughter thinks about church and then Iggy & Jimmy's discussion about "A republic if you can keep it" and the Jefferson-Adams view about this system working for god fearing citizens...gets right to the heart of my dis-affectation to the church of my entire life.
I listen carefully in church and swear they are not teaching the values taught when I was growing up or that my wife and I taught all those years teaching Sunday School, or what I believe from all the books I read about what preachers preached since the time of Martin Luther at least. Since the schools are lost and Hollywood is lost, and the MSM is lost, but for what kids learn at our dinner table, I really don't know where they can hear the truth as I learned it.
I cannot tell the difference between what I hear in church vs what I hear (if I listened) on CNN or MSNBC.
I think SBW nailed it when he said his #1 job is preparing his grandchildren to be the leaders when humanity decides to climb back toward the light.

That Cotton is 6 feet, 5 inches tall was a special inducement. The Old Guard prizes impressive stature—perhaps somewhat in the manner of Napoleon’s renowned Vieille Garde, who were selected in part due to their minimum six-foot height, rendered even more imposing by their tall, black, bearskin hats.
Mrs. Buckeye's 4th great-grandfather was Frederick Dountz who was a member of the Vieille Garde.
He was from a Prussian family and was conscripted by Napoleon. He was 6' 6".
After losing at Waterloo, he emigrated to the Colonies and ended up in the Northwest Territory after serving in the Continental Army.
His father was a mercenary who fought with Cornwallis at Yorktown and told his son stories about how wonderful "the Colonies" were.

Old Lurker,
I was a Methodist almost all my adult life. Had a charismatic pastor who left the church to start an independent church in Florida. I foolishly thought he was disavowing the liberal policies the Methodists were starting to push.
And then, he showed up as the guy giving the invocation and sermon at Obama's inauguration. Yikes!
I missed the church, and when Pope Benedict was named, I saw the Holy Spirit in his face when he walked out onto the balcony. So I started taking Catholic instruction, and became a Catholic. When Pope Benedict resigned (which I now think was a coup) and they named Pope Che, I tried really hard to get with the program, but the man was so unpleasant and pushing leftist stuff, I just quit attending mass.
I have no church, and am in full sympathy with you.

Then you're not even in the wrong church; you're not in a church at all. Get [literally] the hell out. Tradition, ritual and propriety are meaningless absent the Founder and Sustainer of the church.
It doesn't matter where you go so long as they preach Christ and Him crucified, as Paul preached to the Corinthians. As he also told them, if anyone comes preaching another Jesus than the apostles preached, get that Satan behind thee.

Robin, Christian Science is not Christianity. Mary Baker Eddy and friends just tacked His name onto a bunch of crazy horseshit, or maybe that should be crazyhorse shit.
I don't know what you're looking for but I would try several different churches. If you don't feel welcomed or aren't welcomed they probably aren't worth trying again.
Those churches infused with the Holy Spirit can't hide it and don't try to.

A friend of mine attends what she calls the Catholic renegade church near downtown.
This church was one of those a new bishop from Boston closed before he was diagnosed with dementia. They found a venue to celebrate Mass and therefore carry on with their own Sunday worship.
If you feel comfortable with the congregation and connect with the religious leader of your chosen church then the faith experience is enhanced.
I wouldn’t want to live without the grace and community and God’s help received through faith and commitment to Catholicism.

I have left religion as a salve for any injury. Born and raised Roman Catholic. Devout participant in the mass including years as a server, lector and even Cathecsimist. After the Bishop's decision on our high school, I finally found out that reigion is a scam, a fraud, a means of serperating people from logic and their money. BTW, they still haven't sold it. So it was a scam from day one. Never trust your money to the Catholic church.
Even though Frederick goes to a Catholic boading school I want him to find his own way without my bias. But for me, I will never come back.

I have a good friend who was born Jewish. About two decades ago she converted to Christianity and joined the friendly campus Episcopalian parish (she was and is an academic). An intellectual by calling and temperament, she asked her priest for "Further Reading." He gave her Spong and Borg and the like. In despair she came to my husband and me: "why did I ever convert if there is no real resurrection?" We gave her a bunch of scholarly works which show our their lies, which show the resurrection is a very strongly attested to historical fact. She's been okay thereafter, though in a different parish.
What damage the Jesus Seminar and its ilk did--though I know all too well the roots of all that go back to the late 18th c.

Religion as many churches practice it is God's enemy. He wants a relationship not a pile of bricks and stained glass, nor is it rituals and secret handshakes. Jesus's half brother James said this;
"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."
The Church is the body of believers and its head is The Living God.

Good evening. Hubby and I are lapsed Catholics. He is a cradle Catholic and I'm a convert. As you know,my mother-in-law is moving next week to independent living in southern Maine. She has attended the same parish in northern Maine for 89 years. She was married in the parish, all five kids were baptized, received first communion and were confirmed at that parish. Two daughters were married there. She and my father-in-law contributed not only financially but also years of time on parish council and other church ministries. My mother -in-law started a prayer shawl ministry several years ago and her group has knitted hundreds of shawls for the sick and elderly. She recently brought shawls to the church for the priest's blessing.
She said,"Father,I'm moving soon, leaving this parish that I love. Are you going to miss me?"
The priest said,"not really."
Can you believe that a priest could be such an a**hole? My heart broke for her.

JiB, you sound like a teenager.
All that happened is that you misplaced your trust in people, who always are fallible.
The Church, religion, is not the bishop who sold out your school.
And there is no Santa Claus either.
Man up, be the church you want it to be. Don't be a child and think somebody else is going to do it for you. YOU do it.
It's all local. Be an active member of your parish council. Take care of the "business" aspects so your priest can attend to pastoral duties. Far less likely to have corruption with multiple people handling finances.
I share your disgust at the hierarchy, but to stomp off with your baseball...really??? How will anything ever change?
