The NY Times tells us that young Republicans want a stronger stance on climate change. Help is on the way - Politico talks about Republicans in Congress looking for something stronger than outright denialism - but... that Dem wave last fall swept away a lot of Republican moderates, including climate moderates.
Ad to the youth movement, old timers like me can remember when leftists seized on any available problem and insisted the only possible solution was massive government regulation. In that spirit, here is Paul Krugman, circa 1998, bashing Al Gore's 'Earth in the Balance" for its ignorance of market-oriented solutions to pollution problems.
I will say that the Green New Deal has been successful in moving the Overton Window, so once far-out ideas now seem moderate by comparison. And speaking of far-out (or otherwise), here is Rep advisor Greg Mankiw advocating a revenue-neutral carbon tax back in 2007. A globally coordinated tax, no less! Here in the US they suggested an off-setting cut in the payroll tax. That somewhat covers the apparently regressive nature of the carbon tax but leaves retirees somewhat high and dry.
From a different direction, Tyler Cowen notes that if the US and Europe cut back on their use of oil and coal the price will drop. That will make it less economically attractive for developing nations to switch to other technologies, unless those new technologies are price competitive on their own merits.
I stand by my earlier Bold Prediction: China is has major coastal cities and is most threatened by climate change; they will engage in pre-emptive unilateral geo-engineering if the world's climate becomes increasingly dire. The good news being, here in the US we will neither die nor need to make any decisions.
First!

I don’t believe that in 12 years we will be in crisis.
Let the millennials buy the electric cars and use bicycles to get around.
Pretty soon the baby boomers won’t be driving as much or will get around in golf carts.
I can use less water, I already have a washer that takes an hour for a full cycle.
This panic mode about climate is just that, irrational people with a goofy agenda.

"if the world's climate becomes increasingly dire. "
With the politicized scientists, media and politicians working hand in glove; it will ONLY be reported as increasingly dire no matter what is actually occurring.
China won't even clean itself up to present day American standards, let alone 'geo-engineer'.

Their answers all want us to devolve back to the Stone Age. They have no creativity or engineering sense or ability to invent. After all they have meaningless degrees in disciplines lacking common sense.
They blamed a rockfall of a bluff in Encinitas on global warming in this morning's paper. Up and down the coast those same bluffs have been unstable for generations and yet people spend millions on caissons and stabilization so that they can build on them for the views.

The Chinese, being hard bitten communists already in control of their country have no need to pretend this idiocy that has been concocted by soft headed communists in the west in order to seize control of relatively free countries is anything other than the crock it is.
James Hansen's battle cry was 1988. How many cities have drowned in the ensuing 31 years?
And now I'm supposed to believe the world ends in 12?
Any extra CO2 has been a net benefit and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Yes, the AGW hoax is a hoax. I've been going to Daytona for 60 years, starting in a ruffled pink bikini at age one, and the beach is just the same (it was hit by the year of the multiple hurricanes when loads of the sand was violently thrust into the upper stories of the beach hotels, but we are back to normal). No sea rise of any consequence. And even if there was, we (I mean mankind) didn't do it. Silly asses.
Rse, I have been following your reports about your parents with great sympathy, and am so, so sorry, especially as with the worst things in life there is no remedy. The kitten helps, though. I keep praying for you and yours.

People need the truth not propaganda.
Low information voters cannot be allowed to determine our future.
Informing the voters on a city, state and national level is essential.

To partially bolster OL's point, I think there's a sizable share of the population who only give lip service for being for liberty; that secretly they'd be happy being ruled as long as their needs are met. It's probably at least 35% even though many wouldn't answer truthfully if surveyed.

I agree. I am afraid that is what the bloated pensions have done to enough law enforcement, as well as other career gubmint authorities, that they could only be counted on if their retirement was affected. And at that point, they would back whoever promises the biggest payout.

I saw Ali Alexander's post and it was about the Antifa people going down there, which was public knowledge.
Alexander was using that to talk about how we are on some sort of turning of the wheel in society and that thinking is changing, which is why he believes violence is more acceptable in some circles. He was NOT predicting a mass shooting.
I personally think these are the heirs of the Weathermen that Daniel Greenfield was writing about in his article that clarice posted earlier today.

When my children were growing up I stressed above almost everything else that they should never lie to me; that no matter what they did we'd figure out how to deal with it but if they lied to me and I found out, which I would, very bad things would happen.
I think the remaining paltry CNN viewers don't care if their children, the unaborted ones, lie to them.
