First!

D

Better to have the gun to stop the mentally ill aggressive shooter.
All Walmart’s should have armed security guards.

Threadkiller

https://time.com/5647305/rod-rosenstein-trump-white-supremacy/

Trump's 9/11 apparently.

D

Rosenstein hoping he will remain untouched by the Horowitz and Durham reports and investigations.

James D.

Rosenstein can go fuck hmself, in plain English.

henry

so Rosenstein is a white hat supremacist?

Old Lurker

James, He might enjoy that, so, no.

boris

Now would be a good time for the ledgers to use their influence with Trump to warn against making a deal with Schumer and Pelosi on gun control.

rse

Apparently London has suffered a massive power failure extending into the south of England.

rse

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/08/09/major-power-cut-across-country-london-goes-dark-national-grid/

Melinda

mostly fixed, as of now. 90% up.

Threadkiller

You must be listening to Rush, Boris. Exactly that is taking place.

The political ship isn't getting steered by the silent wait and see blind-faith pom-pom club. Trump will always havs their "lock her up" vote.

Captain Hate

Kellyanne Conway said essentially the same thing as Rosenstein to Huge Douche Hewitt. You guys gonna say the same about that see you next Tuesday who can't control her fat slob husband?

Threadkiller

I will. Fuck her too.

rse

Mel-

wouldn't today be a good time to talk about more renewable energy in their national grid?

Buckeye

Whose "lock her up" vote?

You trash talkin' me TK:)

Captain Hate

I can always count on TK

Melinda

Actually blacks out the Carry Trade meltdown going on....Oh, and "Because Boris' Brexit!"

Almost forgot that part...

Threadkiller

More from Kellyane blows Hugh:

KC: Well, first of all, kudos to you for playing a clip of a guest who was taking you to task. Usually when that happens, people ignore it and never invite the guest on again. So that happens often in mainstream media. Look, you just mentioned two people by name who I know, Chuck Todd and Jake Tapper. I don’t agree with a lot of what they say on their shows, but I know they’re good people, and I know they’re great husbands and fathers.

Very reassuring.

James D.

Agreed, TK.

Fuck anyone and everyone who talks about "white supremacist terrorism" when it simply doesn't exist.

Anyone who wants to amplify the slanders and lies of the Dems/MSM because they don't want to be called racist by people who will go right on calling them racist anyway, can go fuck themselves.

The moment I hear that phrase from anyone, I'm done with them, and everybody else should be, too.

Buckeye

I woke up thinking Trump better not take the bait.

James D.

Look, you just mentioned two people by name who I know, Chuck Todd and Jake Tapper. I don’t agree with a lot of what they say on their shows, but I know they’re good people, and I know they’re great husbands and fathers.

If Kellyanne believes that, she is a goddamn moron.

They're good husbands? Well, Hitler liked dogs, so I guess everyone has some good qualities, right?

Wrong. I don't care if they are good husbands and fathers, they're still vile, toxic lying scumbags who make the world a worse place every second that they draw breath, and to pretend otherwise is disgusting.

Threadkiller

Here is the test, Buckeye:

If you chant over and over senseless rally cries and Trump never plays that tune, but you drool over him as if he did, you might just be a "lock her up" voter.

I think you are in the clear, Buckeye. ;-)

D

Boris:
I am sure the Trump administration will handle this gun issue just fine.

Buckeye

Agree James D.

I've grown up around redneck, knuckle draggers my whole life. Never met anyone who I would think of as a white supremacist. Some who were racist, but that is a different thing.

henry

cue the blue on blue violins, and get moar beer / popcorn:

James D.

Sorry I'm in a mood today, but it's getting to be a little much, being told by the media, by government bureaucrats whose lavish salaries I help pay - and apparently by people in my own party and who work for the President I voted for and donated to - that I'm a racist scumbag criminal who ought to hate myself for the crimes of being born white, and for believing that our leaders ought to obey the Constitution they took an oath to uphold and the laws they themselves freaking wrote.

Actually, I'm not sorry at all.

D

JamesD:
Totally agree.
I turn off the station if that is the topic.
I won’t listen to lies and propaganda.
This gun issue always rears it’s ugly head.
Repubs probably should have figured this out with a strategy before it all hit the fan.

D

Henry:
I will figure it out for them.
Yes they did violate the rights of the women running against them.
Let Trans compete against other trans.
Then everybody wins

boris

No, I want to see ledgers going on the warpath now. This is the ultimate test of their power to steer the ship of state.

Don't just sit there and assume Trump will do the right thing. Anyone taking that POV is no different than the wait and see blind-faith pom-pom club.

Nosiree.

D

Boris:
What is your responsibility in all this then.
The real Pom Pom kids are the ones who are convinced the President walks on water. I am sure some 4d plan exists to handle this.
Let us let Rosenstein handle it.
He did such a great job on the Mueller probe.

Buckeye

I am planning a boating "incident" today, if anyone has any firearms they want "unregistered":)

Threadkiller

We already havs you riled up, Boris. Didn't have to lift a finger to do it either.

That is the power we wield. And if bums you.

D

We ledgers have no power inOz.
We are still impatiently waiting for the delayed indictments and perp walks.

Threadkiller

...it bums you.

boris

Trump just might believe he can do anything he wants and his supporters will vote him reelection in a landslide. He might even be thinking "I'll show those dimorat losers who think they can suppress or divide my backers. Ha ha ha they have no chance. I AM INVINCIBLE !"

boris

Ha ha ... like I'm the one riled up here lololol!

Texas Liberty Gal

On the way home from grocery store caught a little bit of Rush. He is not at all happy with Trumps remarks on background checks. He's worried that if he supports and helps get background checkst thru he'll suffer same backlash as H W Bush did when he went back oh his Read My Lips No New Taxes pledge.. I share the same concern.

Buckeye

Boris

The biggest reason we hang out on The Ledge is that we figured out a long time ago that no politicians pay the slightest bit of attention to what we say.

peter

So now nearly a whole week has gone by. The entire field of Dem Presidential candidates, including a former Vice-President, just about every news outlet in the MSM and many other politicians have expressed the opinion repeatedly and urgently that Trump is a white supremacist racist, and so are his supporters. And after this relentless, full court press, what is the result? His Rasmussen Approval is still at 47%. This also after the stock market bull run has been shown to be remarkably fragile.

Threadkiller

What is your responsibility in all this then.

Boris' normal responsibility is to remain silent for days and then descend on his winged chariot to try to pull Tom R's ass out of a self inflicted fire by generalizing about members of The Ledge.

Tom has been away for too long so Boris figured he had to set a fire himself.

#MAGA

boris

I have never defended TR, only suggested ways the ledge could avoid becoming just as bad. Constructive lessons in blog commenting.

Threadkiller

like I'm the one riled up here

Your 12:51 makes that clear. Thoughts swirling in your mind from weeks old conversation that you just have to type out to release your anger.

Like an obsession.

Old Lurker

Boris, where did you ever get the idea that the Ledge thinks it is control of anything?

In fact the very placement of the facility, up high overlooking the turmoil below, implies we watch and comment but do not pretend we are driving squat.

Threadkiller

Constructive lessons in blog commenting.

Hall monitor.

Threadkiller

I caused that, OL. I made the case that Trump also relies on bad reviews to improve his product. Boris doesn't believe that marketing genius Presidents give a shit about what their disgruntled supporters think.

So he mocks the notion.

Buckeye

I see OL and I are on the same wavelength today:)

Thomas Collins

However, peter, Trump's Strongly Approve/Strongly Disapprove number is back to double digits (-10). And 47%, given how the economy has gone, shows that the attacks of the Media/Academia/Business/Entertainment Wokeness Quartet have been somewhat effective.

I think Stephanie a few threads ago had the best analysis on how much of a slog 2020 is going to be.

Buckeye

Peter,

I actually think the market is showing remarkable resilience in the face of the China "panic".

Thomas Collins

By the way, OL, I have a new place for you to deplete your retirement resources when you take your family out. DuckDuckGo Strip by Strega Boston. And no, despite the name, it's not a place where Destiny and Tatiana do champagne rooms; it's a high end Boston restaurant with great food (although the fact that I wasn't footing the bill may have made the food tastier and the wine more flavorful). Just remember to keep saved enough funds for Ledge refreshments!

Jane

I'm getting a little worried the Hillary crowd is going to take out Joe Biden, and of course, blame Trump. He really seems to have dementia and I think the party is panicking.

Melinda

Very thorough piece:

Saw this on FB and have a question:

Israel has no mass shootings, requires weapons training, has stringent background checks & permits must be renewed every year.

Do the libs in Israel also push for communism and banning those guns the public carries? Or are they sensible a bit more sensible?

OK two questions.

D

The ledge is not bad nor will it become like TomR.
We are reasonable , likeable people with a realistic point of view, open to other opinions and many of us are optimistic with a feeling of certainty that President Trump will win again.

Old Lurker

TK, I too have always agreed with you on the value of critical input from Trump supporters. But when I did/do that, it is always as me,supporter, not "We The Ledge".

Some of the biggest fights I have had here when Sessions was sleeping under his tree, and Trump was triangulating against departments of which he was in fact the CEO, or when he was relying on blaming (pre-existing) politicians for promises Trump himself made but failed to deliver...which griping from me drew fire from many friends here who were instead saying nothing but rah rah cheers for the guy was that the downside of groupie like adulation is that big headed politicians even Trump might come to believe their own BS. I have mixed (meaning I see the good and the bad) feelings about his rallies for just that reason.

I have always thought that the risk to any person elected based on very specific promises of what he could/WOULD accomplish even knowing the Swamp was there, is that by his next election he has to be accountable for not performing.

I absolutely understand why promises might be impossible, but it offends me greatly to pretend 1)the promise was never made, or 2)it WAS accomplished.

I was promised a Wall from sea to sea and therefore a fully controlled border (of course I knew it could not be completely built by now...). I was promised a radical reformation of the Tax Code that will not turn into a pumpkin in 2016. I was promised a quick final end and burial of ObamaCare.

Along the way all sorts of related side promises and predictions were made.

Now many good and great things have gotten better, for sure. And for sure the Swamp was shown to be stronger than any of us here knew (but we thought he knew more). And he has done more than well enough to get my vote the next time. But don't pretend that any of the big three were moved much off their starting place; don't pretend he did not let lesser politicians eat his lunch along the way.

And at the end of each day, I retreat to the bar on the Ledge which I share with like minded JOMers, and together we watch Rome burn.

clarice

I suppose one can never go wrong being pessimistic, nevertheless I remain an optimist.

Jane

"We are reasonable , likeable people with a realistic point of view,"

I thought we are there because we start cocktails earlier.

Anyone keeping an eye on Puerto Rico, recently?

#WasTwoWeeks

henry

I’m with Jane.

James D.

Do the libs in Israel also push for communism and banning those guns the public carries? Or are they sensible a bit more sensible?

Well, some of them do push for communism, and they persecute nNetanyahu with a fervor that would make the most impeachment-minded Democrats envious, so, no, they're not all sensible over there, either.

henry

Puerto Rico? Is there a three strikes rule on governors?

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/puerto-rico-s-supreme-court-law-used-name-new-governor-n1039911

Now try it with Puerto Rico's $41B and no governor....

Here's a twist ahmylan she met with George Mitchell the unassuming Senate majority lesderv and Ireland envoy, who at one point employee George nader yes the creepy fellow who was a Mueller witness

Marlene

Good afternoon! The daughter just called and she isn't happy. After 20 years in DC,her car was broken into this afternoon. (first time) She had her wallet with her when she stopped to do an errand, so she has her license and credit cards. The passenger side window was smashed and all the stuff she had in the car was taken. :(
By the way, she's leaving on Sunday for a trip to China. It is one of those business/cultural exchange trips. She went several years ago,but I'm nervous about this trip because of all the recent news. *pours more wine*

Alex

So the Texas mother expressed concern about her son ability to buy a gun and we condemned Lanza's mother for having guns in her house and the Loughners not getting help for her son. Where do we draw the happy medium for family members taking responsibilities for their child's actions. Question of maturity and parent responsibility pervades many of the issues of the day such as abortion, gun rights and student loans. Problem is that the millenial generation has not grown up.

Narciso

Well mainland China is probably safe, Hong Kong might be a little more lively

henry

Alex, agree on the problem. That generation’s patents haven’t grown up either. Neither the problem, nor its solution, are mysteries.

bubarooni

Aren't there some Minnesota peeps on this board?

My daughter has been handed a belt of territory in Minnesota that runs from just north of St Cloud up to about Grand Rapids and runs east to west all the way across the state.

She sells shredding services with Shreddit.

She's got Duluth but outside of that there doesn't seem to be a lot in her territory. She asked me if I had any ideas on how to develop it.

I told her there might be some large mines or lumber operations out in the middle of nowhere that she could call on.

Any tips along those lines would be greatly appreciated.

D

Alex:
Good post.

henry

Marlene, my car was never broken into when I lived in DC. However when I visited my brother at the Hopkins Med School dorms, I learned to superglue the battery in and leave the car unlocked. Otherwise a broken window plus stolen battery were guaranteed. (I also told the guard in his kiosk ten feet from where I parked of my new precautions).

Buckeye

Marlene

As long as your daughter doesn't have any Trump connections she will be fine:)

All joking aside, the vast majority of Chinese in the big cities are used to rubbing elbows with Westerners, and Americans in particular. For the most part, they like us.

I wouldn't anticipate her getting any grief.

Narciso

I think she did her due diligence now the police well they didnt perform up to.

Narciso

Miss rutnik removes all doubt again,

Narciso

Nee gillehrand, touting the gentle giant, and the grifter parents I think one Is on the city counsel

Melinda

bubarooni,

No question running up 61 up to Grand Portage, gets you the Lutsen Resort, Cleveland Cliffs mine, Two Harbors mines, And a host of little law firms, besides Financial Advisors all the way up. If a shredding truck made that run, twice a month all summer, given all the retirees up there, you could set up a nice regular business, for the summer and fall. Let the accountants, brokers, insurers, and lawyers finance it.

henry

Bubarooni, Brainerd (as seen in Fargo) seems to be in that territory. Other than that, iron mining operations around Duluth? Shipping out of Duluth?

I’m more familiar with areas south of there, most of my MN manufacturing customers are south (but not in Minneapolis or Rochester).

Marlene

I told the daughter that 20 years is a pretty good run. Her car will be repaired while she's gone. I'm not really worried about her trip,it is just a mom thing. :)

Melinda

And the Indian Casino in Grand Portage may be a tough sell, but getting told "No" over the phone is better than missing the chance.

Melinda

Also, the new cement plant in Charlevoix will be huge when complete, absolutely exploding biz up there.

Yes please carry mine on that leaky vessel!
I'll send makes/models/serial-nums via separate email ... LOL

It's getting to be time, maybe past time, for Civil Disobedience.
Example: we Blue state denizens should avoid participating in the Census

James D.

Re: those red flag laws

The only response to them is Break the system. Every time you see an unhinged FB post or overhear a prog neighbor ranting angrily about the President, call in a report to 911.

Every time. After all, they might have a gun in their home, you don’t know. Make a dozen reports a day. Maybe create a bot to scan for dangerous keywords on twitter and FB and generate automatic emails to the police.

This is what the left wants to do, this is their rules, so let’s see how they enjoy it.

James D.

It's getting to be time, maybe past time, for Civil Disobedience

If there were some way to organize it nationally, a strike by all 63 million Trump voters might make an impact.

Or if all of us picked the same week to jack up the # of exemptions on our tax withholding so nothing gets withheld.

Or if all of us picked a day to withdraw all our cash from our bank and start a bank run and panics

Etc.

Remind the jackasses who want to rule over us that we are free people, and that they are our employees and servants, not the other way around, and that we do have the power to shut the whole damn country down if they don’t show us a little respect.

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

Thanks for the response JamesD.

Damn I got busy there for a while after a morning of sheer boredom.

Anyone else wonder when the SJW go after Little League and their World Series for triggering all the losers and making them cry? Try outs are evil. Keeping score is evil. Elimination rounds are super evil cause elimination = Hitler or something.

Stephanie Nene Not Your Normal Granma

Or if all of us picked the same week to jack up the # of exemptions on our tax withholding so nothing gets withheld.

I've been pushing this for years. Since 1992 at least. Never gets off the ground cause IRS = scary. They can't arrest all of us nor audit all of us. Too many skittish conservatives. SMDH
