NATO refuting standards apply to all assets. Another reason we spend more than our partners. No aircraft of the US can be deny fueling by a NATO member. The B-2 is not new to Euro Ops. Easier to get to the ME and othetr bad guys than from Whiteman in Mizzuo.
Maybe not any more with Iran rising. Sometimes speed Needs to be factored in. Believe me, this all about Iran waking up not necessarily a combat certainty.
AB,
There are two main methods of refueling. The brilliant and effective air force method of a hydraulic boom extending from the back of the tanker [KC 135, KC 10 etc] that then is inserted by a guy in the tanker who has a small padded bunk and his own window and a joystick for extending the boom.
The navy and marines have a dreadful, pitiful and wholly inadequate system that involves a boom on the plane that extends out and then a large drogue that extends from the tanker [usually a C-130] that the plane to be refueled then flies his probe into.
The air force has drogues that can be attached to their booms in order to refuel navy/marine planes but generally each service refuels their own.
There used to be KC-135Qs which were specially designed to only carry and pump the special fuel SR 71s burned; JP-somethin or other.

The Great State of North Carolina has EARLY VOTING for a very important Congressional (Ninth) race. Please vote early (now), or on Election Day, September 10th, for Dan Bishop, a great guy. His opponent wants Open Borders, Sanctuary Cities & is weak on Crime, Military & Vets!
"Google Chief Legal Officer David Drummond regularly ignored the company's policy against office romances with subordinates, a scathing new blog post alleges.
Drummond, who received $47 million in salary and equity last year according to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, is the latest American executive to be called out in the #MeToo era -- with a blog post on Thursday describing an alleged extramarital affair with a former lover.
Twenty thousand Google employees worldwide walked out in protest in November after an explosive New York Times story detailed how the company protected top executives who were accused of sexual harassment -- including paying $90 million to one who allegedly coerced a subordinate into performing sexual acts."
Yeah Ig, I’m somewhat familiar. Broke down and looked it up, yes the RAF has tankers. Converted A330s. They have drogue/probe only so are limited in what they can refuel. (For this tour of the UK, per video I saw, we apparently used our own tankers.)
I think the Navy and Marines would tell you the drogue/probe system is better as you can refuel helicopters ;)
Thanks for all the keto info!
Yes, I was just wanting confirm that PB is on the "good" list.
Weight loss has plateaued at 12 pounds so I'm looking closer at my diet elements. For example, I've continued eating boneless/skinless white meat chicken but skin and dark meat will provide more good fat.
I've snacked on nuts too frequently on nuts, thus planning to switch to celery and PB instead. I also saw a warning about "too much lettuce" but didn't click through so I'm not sure what that's about.
Jane, you buy a big enough generator, you can run your AC.
The littles ones people keep in their garages and roll out aren't what we're talking about here. We be talking about the big old eight foot by three foot by three foot things they put next to your house, that run for thirty minutes every month, and technicians come out to service.
No NATO ever ran the arctic circuit during my time. Maybe many years before Iggys service. But in the UK on TDY I go5 gas from a crewed UK platform. All pre 1995.
Jim, nuts as an ad lib snack can be a big source of carbs. Measure out the portion the can gives you the carb count for--usually 1/4 c--and see how few that is, then figure out how many carbs you've been eating.
You've likely explained your "plateau" right there.

AB,
Shared capability is NATO and part of our base agreements in the UK. I had a crew member who was French when I was stateside but not in hostility.
Most NATO members fly our machines.

I have 2 friends with generators so I can go there. But generators don't provide AC.
Posted by: Jane | August 30, 2019 at 05:13 PM
I wasn’t clear Henry.
Yes, I understand all USAF refueling is standardized. The question was about RAF tankers (if there is such a thing), not UK-based USAF tankers.
Mostly I suppose I’m wondering why we’re using B-2s to do a tour of the UK in the first place.
Posted by: Another Bob | August 30, 2019 at 05:14 PM
Thanks JIB. Figured it’d be something like that, but couldn’t fathom what benefit is derived from training RAF people on the B-2.

Awfully distant “just in case” situation where B-2 is concerned. Only 20 of them, requirements for specialist hangaring, etc.

Big thunderstorm here right now. What's going on there JIB?
Posted by: Jane | August 30, 2019 at 05:35 PM
You don’t move handicapped air assets if you don't have the infrastructure to accept and maintain them.
Sort of been planning for a long time. We and RAF are joined at the hip. Always have been. Good, the fear of God is now amongst the Iranians.

Jane,
We are warm, humid any comfortable. You can get in 9 if you tee off now.
Nothing is happening here for another 48 hrs.

Jane "But generators don't provide AC."
Sure they do if that was the plan when installed. Since I am like you with high temps trying to sleep, that's the main reason I have them!
